Avatar m tn i haven't had a vicodin in 15 day but started taking the tramadol because it was "safe". So now I'm trying to take just one but my body aches sooo bad and I am crying all the time too. I have a bottle of vicodins that I gave my husband so I wouldn't be tempted to take it but now I'm wondering if I should use it to ease of the tramadol and then wean off that or just use the thomas recipe and quit the trams. I can't sleep! I have 4 kids I have to take care of.
Avatar f tn I didNT know I was pregnant and was on heavy doses of tramadol for migraine. Foundout at 4 Weeks and weened off last week. Has anyone had a similar experience and what was the outcome? So worried please help.
Avatar n tn Labor and Delivery ULTRAM ER should not be used in pregnant women prior to or during labor unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Safe use in pregnancy has not been established. Chronic use during pregnancy may lead to physical dependence and post-partum withdrawal symptoms in the newborn (see DRUG ABUSE AND ADDICTION). Tramadol has been shown to cross the placenta. The mean ratio of serum tramadol in the umbilical veins compared to maternal veins was 0.
Avatar m tn lesa May 26, 2010 — The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced yesterday that it has added a warning of suicide risk to the labels of tramadol hydrochloride (Ultram) and tramadol hydrochloride/acetaminophen (Ultracet).
Avatar f tn In general, drugs such as Ultram (or tramadol) are not recommended during pregnancy or during breastfeeding because there is a lack of safety information. This does not mean that it will necessarily cause problems for the fetus or baby, but since the information is not known, it might. Animal studies have shown that the drug crosses to the developing fetus, but the danger to a developing human fetus is not known.
Avatar f tn I'm not a medical professional, but I think the odds are that you'll be okay. From what I've read, it seems that the major risk with Tramadol in pregnancy is with long-term use at high dosages, which doesn't sound like it applies to you. Women do all kinds of things before they know they're pregnant and 95% of the time, everything turns out okay. I would, however, not take any more, and I would tell your doctor.
Avatar f tn For some, tramadol is a god-send. For others, like me, it's just as bad as vicodin in terms of addiction. Is your doc aware of tramadol's potential pitfalls? Too many physicians regard tram as relatively harmless.
Avatar m tn s under control now (and has been for 2 years), but I continue to use Tramadol to help keep those last symptoms at bay. I typically take 2 50mg pills each morning (for approx. 3 years). I don't need any more than that. That dose completely controls my symptoms. I've been reading about Tramadol addiction online and am troubled. I know that the dose I'm taking is low-ish and that I'm not abusing it, but I'd like to try to taper down and eventually quit.
Avatar n tn [28] Tramadol causes serious or fatal[citation needed] side-effects in a newborn, including neonatal withdrawal syndrome, if the mother uses the medication during pregnancy or labor. Use of tramadol by nursing mothers is not recommended by the manufacturer because the drug passes into breast milk.[28] However, the absolute dose excreted in milk is quite low, and tramadol is generally considered to be acceptable for use in breastfeeding mothers.
Avatar f tn ve been taking no more than 100mg of tramadol just so i can make it thru my work day. I was wondering if i will have any w/d from the Tramadol. I have Saturday and Sunday to be home and detox and don't plan on taking any tramadol over the weekend. Will that be enough time to get over the worse part of the detox? I can't miss work. I'm royally screwed. Any and all advice would greatly help...thank you all!!!
Avatar f tn m actually looking forward to be free of the white chains of tramadol! You know, I did a lit review of tramadol and although it states dependence could result, there really isn't any big warnings about this demon. In fact, I've heard many in the medical profession refer to it as "a glorified Tylenol." We have drug seeking patients come into the ER and tell us they are allergic to Ultram just the doctor won't write them a script for it (they want the Vicodine and Oxy).
Avatar f tn Past 3 years have worked my way up to appx 15-100mg of tram daily. Was purchasing them OTC in Mexico. Cheap and easy. Time to stop had enough. Half a@@ tapered over weekend. Last tram was yesterday morn. Need to know how soon I'm gonna die from the abuse and what I've done to my body. In process of quitting.
Avatar f tn How many do you take a day? Are you getting them from your doctor? If so, get in to see him tomorrow if you can. Tramadol is dangerous and hard to get off of. I got off of them over a year ago, and I would rather ingest poison than a tramadol right now! That is how bad I hate them! They're evil!
990354 tn?1307132886 Serotonin Syndrome Risk The development of a potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome may occur with use of tramadol products, including ULTRAM ER, particularly with concomitant use of serotonergic drugs such as SSRIs, SNRIs, TCAs, MAOIs and triptans, with drugs which impair metabolism of serotonin (including MAOIs) and with drugs which impair metabolism of tramadol (CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 inhibitors). This may occur within the recommended dose.
1315055 tn?1294367046 I believe its the St. John's wort and 5htp that should be avoided while still on the tramadol because of the serotonin issues. It's the same as not being able to take an anti-depressant while on tramadol because tramadol also contains an anti-depressant and too much serotonin brings on serotonin syndrome (exceedingly high levels of serotonin) which could result in seizure. So that would include the st. john's wort and any other supplement that affects serotonin levels.
Avatar n tn The other, Oxys, should be tapered also because of the pregnancy. Yes, some have done it and even made it ok. That does not mean everyone will. Please talk with your OBGYN, they are very understanding. As I read your post again, I am confused. It sounds like you have already quit c/t? Is this right? If so, how long ago did you quit?
Avatar n tn I have heard and agree and the ringing in the ears is likely from the Tramadol withdrawal; I experienced a bit of that as well. It went away within the first week or so after my detox. As far as seizures go in reference to TRAMADOL, I do believe that the higher risk is from high and/or increased usage of the drug as opposed to withdrawal from the drug.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I would like to ask whether the use of Raglan in pregnancy due to the morning sickness can have negative effect for the baby? Because I am throwing out everything I can't eat, I even couldn't drink and was in hospital last week, and the doctor said I have to take Raglan. I take the medicine now and I feel better but I'm worried for the baby.
626605 tn?1302520471 Spontaneous post-marketing reports indicate that seizure risk is increased with doses of tramadol above the recommended range. Concomitant use of tramadol increases the seizure risk in patients taking: •Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI antidepressants or anorectics), •Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), and other tricyclic compounds (e.g., cyclobenzaprine, promethazine, etc.), or •Other opioids.
Avatar f tn I am looking to use Tramadol to easy my oxy withdrawal symptoms. I'm not looking to use the tramsdol long term, only for a week or two. Has anyone done tho before? I have heard it works, if the tramadol is taken in low doses.
