singulair

Avatar m tn i was not warned of the possible side effects like so many other parents and patients. there is also some thought that singulair is being linked to suicide in teenagers. you can google suicide and singulair and watch a family's story about their son's suicide. also look up your child's medications on www.medications.com. i hope this message reaches other parents with children on singulair.
920032 tn?1550680156 He prescribed me with the symbicort turbuhaler and I have one puff off this once a day and in the past 2 months that I have been on it, I have pretty much forgotten that I am asthmatic, even through the extreme cold in the last couple of weeks. By this time of the year I have normally suffered through Bronchitis at least twice, I am still waiting for my first one this year...
1135961 tn?1279145314 I have seen two doctors and im on a combination of meds. They are, Advair500, Atrovent, Alvesco, Prednizone, Singulair, and ventolin. All these meds dont seem to work.Ive been to the e.r three times in the last two months. And during my last visit I was put on bypass. Its seems like every day my chest is tight, and I wease a little. Sure there are some good days, but overall my asthma is still out of control. I feel so frustrated , and dont want to end up in the er again. What do I do?
Avatar m tn Whoa, Nelly. Regardless of whethr or not you use Singulair you absolutely positively MUST always carry around an emergency albuterol sulfate inhaler. MUST. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. While these cost as much as sixty dollars each in the United States Wal-Mart had a generic brand for sale (in store only) for less than ten dollars. I also question the use of a blood pressure medication for anyone suffering asthmatic attacks unless absolutely positively necessary.
Avatar f tn My inhaler ran out about a month ago (and was expired anyway). I ran out of my Singulair and was too busy to refill my prescription for a couple of weeks. I finally refilled the Singulair 3 days ago, and the next day (after showing numerous homes) I felt like I was having a full-blown asthma attack. I could not get a deep breath, and realized I was beginning to hyperventilate. I called my doctor after hours and he called in a new prescription for an inhaler.
Avatar m tn We reasearched Singulair when our son was first prescribed it and found none of the information now noted in their website. The link to suicide, depression and other behavioral problems and Singulair, although known by the manufacturer and the FDA for several months was not mentioned by either until recently and notices were not sent to all Pharmacists and Dr.s. For me, this experience has shown me that there is no "miracle" drug, and all drugs are just that....drugs.
Avatar n tn She has emotional outbursts and loses her temper really easy. If she gets upset, there is nothing we can do to snap her out of it. Sometimes I do something to distract her and she forgets that she was mad. She says mean things to her sister and grandmother. If she gets in the "zone" nothing I tell her phases her. She will not follow directions and does not care if she gets spanked. Whenshe is not in the "zone" she is very loving and very delightful.
370736 tn?1247242917 I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.
Avatar f tn I AM ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE FOR ANSWERS FOR MY DAUGHTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS IN TEARS MOST OF THE TIME AND BEGGING FOR ANSWERS FROM SOMEONE !!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP Let me add that she is NOT in tears because the Singulair has made her depressed, we heard all about that in the news. She is in tears because of the agony she's in because of how BAD her arms and legs feel all the time!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter is on Singulair and just finished a short course of Prednisone.
Avatar m tn Call your doctor ASAP to make adjustments in your treatment. I have never heard of twitching with Singulair, but it is a side effect of other asthma meds. Be sure to let your doctor know that you have stopped taking Singulair this week and watch for signs of uncontrolled asthma - increased use of inhaler, coughing, sighing... There are a lot of subtle signs that people miss. You do need to be off the med, but be careful. Take care and I am glad you are feeling better.
Avatar m tn As, Singulair (montelukast) is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children. Singulair 10mg tablets contain the active ingredient montelukast, which is a type of medicine known as a leukotriene receptor antagonist. You may need regular inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting beta agonist such as salbutamol, to relieve your symptoms. Nebulization may help. Sometimes, steroids may be needed to control the symptoms.
Avatar n tn Long-term use comes with serious side effects both for adults and for children, but more serious for children. If you are concerned ask your doctor for effective non-steroidal substitutes. I got off inhales steroids three years ago after suffering health problems caused by it. I now use natural anti-inflammatories plus nebulized albuterol and an anti-histamine.

I'm not a doc but I've been to many trying to get mystery burning of the skin and rashes figured out incl. a dbl ear infection and EVERY doc that the dbl. Singulair and Zyflo was a Brilliant idea.... Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
1154802 tn?1266485720 I have been prescribed prednisone to help keep my asthma under control twice in the past three months. I've noticed there are a lot of bad side effects (as there is with any drug I suppose) and I know most of them are from long-term use and ten days isn't really long term use, but they still worry me! I'm on a preventer (symbicort), two puffs morning and night. But I still find I'm using my Ventolin at least 5 times a day (bad, I know!!
Avatar n tn One common cause of these symptoms in children is chronic sinus inflammation. A CT scan of the sinuses is a safe way to make this diagnosis. You might discuss this with your Pediatrician.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
640719 tn?1277140030 Hello Bill103 and Juliva, I am curious to know if the Octacosanol recommended comes in the form of Wheat germ oil? Juliva have you tried and did it help you? I want to help my son with his asthma. Thank you .
Avatar n tn The main symptom is a sensation of fullness/pressure in both ears which frustrates me and causes me to regularly be trying to find relief by moving my jaw, performing the valsalva maneuver etc. I first mentioned this to my doctor almost 4 months ago. He looked in my ears to confirm there was no wax build up and noticed that there was signs of fluid in my middle ear.
Avatar n tn No, Singulair (montelukast sodium) and zyrtec do not contain cortisone. If your son is prescribed 5 mg of Singulair then try to get that instead of a 10 mg preparation (you can get 4 mg and 5mg chewable tablets—ask the pharmacist or the doctor about these). Usually a medication which can be broken into half and used this way to half the dose has a line break on the tablet. Usually Singulair does not have such line breaks.
