Avatar f tn Nurse had a chart that categorized medicine risk level in pregnancy, category A having no risk at all, ranitidine falls in category B as showing no harm in animal reproduction but no human studies being available. Category C have having an adverse affect to animal reproduction but no studies on humans. I've always said if symptoms were so intolerable I would take it but, I haven't had the need to take it. So, it's up to you and what you think is best.

2006603 tn?1331329327 I believe my doctor said it was like a Class B (for pregnancy) which is one of the safer things to use, anything below Class A or B is considered a little less safe, if I understood him correctly lol. Hope it helps you, I know it's helped me with my acid reflux.
Avatar m tn In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.

Having given up the drug for a while things improved but stomach started to suffer again and thus the reason to re-start the drug.

Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I would like to ask whether the use of Raglan in pregnancy due to the morning sickness can have negative effect for the baby? Because I am throwing out everything I can't eat, I even couldn't drink and was in hospital last week, and the doctor said I have to take Raglan. I take the medicine now and I feel better but I'm worried for the baby.
Avatar n tn A similar thing like this occurred a month ago, however, my stomach only hurt when I touched the very lower portion of it then. Today my stomach hurts when I touch it mostly in the middle and when I don't touch it. The pain feels like the inside of my stomach is just raw. I don't have constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting occuring, but I am having problems sexually. I've taken urine and blood tests all coming back negative. The blood tests were to check my blood counts etc.
Avatar f tn We have managed to ween them from the domperidine which seemend to go ok only a little bit of sick. With advice from our paed we have recently taken them off the ranitidine but ever since they have been up all night , uncomfortable and suffering from a sever cough. When we take them to the doctors they advise that their chest is clear and that is it so we are now stuck on what to do. Do we put them back on the ranitidine or see if the cough goes away?

Before I got pregnant I had never had it nd always thought ppl were over exaggerating but holy this aint no joke. I hope this isnt an open door for it to happen even after I give birth. Avatar f tn During really hard vomiting, I felt like a lump was in my chest. Afterwards, I started having bad relux and shortness of breath. A week later, I was in the emergency because I couldn't take deep breaths. After numerous tests including blood work, ekg, chest X-rays and urine tests, they determined I had a bad UTI. All my other tests came back normal. I took the percription until it was gone, but I continued to have a day every 4 days or so where I couldn't take a deep breath.

I avoid lying down after meals and if course any irritating foods, but it's constant and nothing helps!!!
