abilify

Avatar f tn s cognitive behavioral therapy can be quite helpful.
Avatar n tn There are boxed warnings on the labels (also you could go to the medication website as well) stating to use caution about the use of antipsychotics in people who are elderly especially people with dementia. It would be worthwhile to see a neurologist who specializes in gerontology. There are medications specifically designed to treat dementia that might be able to be used without these concerns of which they would have more knowledge of.
Avatar n tn It has been a horror drug in my family. My brother passed away @51 years. The known blood sugar issues from Abilify made him become very obese and his heart gave away. I am not saying it was solely Abilify but it played a big role. He took it for many years as well.
Avatar m tn I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills? I have a drink at the weekends which seems to be ok. A few bottles of wine.
765828 tn?1306263868 My "family" knows I've been in and out of hospitals, but they don't care to know why. In fact, they are possibly as disgusted as I am with myself. There are people who can't understand, then there are people who don't want to understand. Or both. All the above applies. Everyone talks about how this website is a great support system and it is. I just don't use the internet and you do not know when you'll get an answer if you're in a crisis.
Avatar n tn Right now pdocs use AD in conjunction with mood stabilizers to maintain control over depressions . So if one is not working for you then you will have to try others until your brain finds one that works best. Realize that nothing is sure-fire success yet, controlling mania and depression, but we are headed in the right direction.
1110718 tn?1258435594 I am not a doctor and can only relay to you what I have read. I read that PANDAs is usually noticed in children about the age of 7 but that it can occur earlier. Children don't (or can't) always articulate what is going on with themselves so earlier occurrences of this tragic condition may not be brought to the parents' attention until around that age.
Avatar f tn with no research on the effects of abilify on children how am I to know whether this medicine will endanger my MR adhd 9 year old child .he is also on strattera.
Avatar n tn Prozac interacts with Abilify and may increase the concentration of Abilify in your body. That may be the reason why you are experiencing the side effects. If you just started on Abilify then you should go talk to your doctor and let him know that you cannot tolerate the side effects and be put on something else.
13126824 tn?1428652469 I have the same problem and have found it to be a lack of potassium for helping with circulation in ur system. If u simply include some bananas per week or even a potassium vitamin to ur daily routine it would help u out greatly. Hope this helped!
2190999 tn?1504988891 I know. Some of my meds are copayment of $300 pr month. With good coverage. It's going to depend on if you're on other meds too, & how long, what dose you were on the Abilify.
Avatar n tn First I would like to know who perscribed Ativan to you for depression. And why they have kept you on if for "years." Ativan is NOT an antidepressant and has no affinity for that disorder. It's a short acting benzodiazipine. (Antianxiety) The main uses for Ativan are anxiety, irritability in psychiatric or organic disorders, preoperatively, insomnia, and as an adjunct in endoscopic procedures.
4592241 tn?1359813138 My point was to be careful about what you put in your body, I'm not against antidepressants at all. The above is my personal story and as I stated each individual is different. That said here is a link to an article about abilify and its 30% rate of causing diabetes after long term use. It's not a joke it's Forreal and to be taken seriously. It also has other serious side effects like the ones I experienced. http://www.glopc.
Avatar f tn He does not have depressive symptoms--he gets manic and hears voices when he is stressed so we also have him on a low dose of risperidone and also Abilify (which has been our miracle drug). Mood swings are getting worse and he is getting more aggressive at home (hits walls). Besides getting him a punching bag, I wondered if anyone has had better experience with a different mood stabilizer--maybe something new? We tried tegretol with no effect when he was first diagnosed.
Avatar n tn The number one mode of transmission is IV Drug use so most children are not exposed to that. Blood transfusion was another common form of transmission, however, all blood is now screened for for hep b & c. I won't say they catch 100% of infected blood but it's pretty close to that. In my opinion, children are less likely to be exposed to hepc. There is a very small (5%?) chance it can be passed in utero to the child from an infected mother.
575214 tn?1218040360 I have schizoaffective disorder and generally did not need more than one antipsychotic. Did they diagnose any form of psychosis in him? Benzotropine is a side effect pill. It is used to stop motor restlessness in antipsychotics but if he is experiencing that that may contribute to the problem. I take Clonidine in patch form. That's used occassionally as a mood stabilizer but often for Tourrette's and is used for children with restless or impulsive behavior from what I know.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been on Abilify for many years now. I have tried in the past to get off of it, but depression seems to hit right away. I stopped it again a few weeks ago and now am really depressed and just want to cry and stay in bed(esp since I do not even want to get dressed) am going to start back up on the Abilify to get back to being even. Just didn't want to have to stay on med for the rest of my life. I felt good right after I stopped it, more energy, more motivation, then this.
918275 tn?1254068752 I take 20 mg of Abilify and have found it helpful in both controlling my psychotic symptoms and in giving me more energy. What other meds are you on? Another medication I take as a mood stabiliser is Lamogitrine (Lamictal) really helps to guard against the depressive side of the illness.
Avatar m tn it seems to be working for some things but I was on 2mg but that caused more movement disorder instead of less like it should of. Abilify is an antipsychotic and antidepressant so it does have the potential side effect of EPS and TD and so on. I was just wondering if the rocking bit was akathesia or something. The rocking I'm pretty sure isn't caused by my mood because I wasn't even feeling anxiety like I usually feel at the time of it happening this last time at least.
585414 tn?1288941302 Its just a new option for people as regards antipsychotics. Abilify works in a manner somewhat different from the other antipsychotics and Saphris was based on Abilify (Serotonin-Dopamine agonists) so it should have a similar side effect profile of having less sedation and less of a potential for weight gain and diabetes (though all current antipsychotics can cause this). If you want to know the full side effect profile as well as beneficial results go to the medication website.
Avatar f tn s like Satan placed his hairy *** cheeks on my life. Last August of 2015 I stopped taking Abilify, after taking it for a year because it caused me to shake a lot, and I was worried about getting tardive dyskinesia. Also, last year I've been working hard animating and drawing daily, because i want to be an animator. And in summer 2015 I was accepted to animation programs at art college last summer, and animation was my life, so shaking hands is something I definitely didn't want.
5764859 tn?1400881756 I use Lamictal as my mood stabilizer and take Effexor and Abilify for my depression. The combo of all of these had made all of the difference in the world for me. I take 200mg/day of the Lamictal and for me it worked pretty much right away but seemed to lose its effectiveness after the first 6-7 months. So after getting up to the full dose 200mg, my doc added Effexor and then eventually the Abilify. I'm BP2 also and have tried so many different meds over the years I lost count.
Avatar n tn my 10yr old son has been on a regimen of 1300mg lithium and 5mg abilify since age 7 due to aggresive behavior towards family and self mutalation. Was hospitalized at Walker Art,Needham Mass to get satabilized..meds worked for the better part.He was recently taken off abilify 5 wks ago-the past 3plus wks he has returned to his behavior not seen since age of 7.Drs wanted to try him on triliptal which been on over wk now, nothing has improved more so worsened.
Avatar f tn Children with ADHD usually do not exhibit psychotic symptoms or reveal a loss of contact with reality, whereas children with bipolar disorder may exhibit gross distortions in the perception of reality or in the interpretation of emotional events. Bipolar symptoms in kids differs for symptoms of adults. These are basic common symptoms: During a time of mania, children and teens may: Feel irritable and throw violent temper tantrums. Seem extremely happy and have high energy levels.
Avatar f tn thanks for your response i believe abilify is approved for children the doctors have mentioned it to me before. The risperdal seems very heavy duty to me i would like to take care of more than one problem with one medication i will read more about abilify.
