Avatar n tn But if you really did have something wrong like a gallstone or other bile blockage, then the urine test will remain constant in showing the problem on repeated tests. If you didn't have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well.
Avatar m tn Unprotected oral second void, maybe 1/2 ounce wasted then in the cup NAAT,, male is this an accurate test? Potential prostate swollen and frequent urination?
Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.
Avatar n tn Testing strips measure chemicals in the urine. Thus, the strips for blood measure hemoglobin, not red blood cells. There are certain things which can give false positive as well as false negative results. In particular, chemicals which color the urine can give false readings.
Avatar m tn Have not tried cranberry juice. Got Urinalysis done which came back negative. I then bought some at home UTI testing strips. With testing at home, one of the strips came back positive for trace leukocyctes, slight pink dots on the test strip. Will do Urinalysis again, this time with urine straight after waking up.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.
Avatar n tn About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing. Then a few days ago my urine appeared green and was testing for blood, leukocytes, protein (I always have this), and still the nitrates(Now positive at any time of day tested). I then began having urgency issues as well as right side flank pain. I went to the Dr. and she said my urine was a mess.
709686 tn?1277432159 One portiion of the physical is they take a urine sample to check for sugar. My test did not reveal sugar/glucose in the urine. Over the past few years I've had several blood tests done to see if I'm diabetic and each one comes back negative. My question is this. Is it possible to be diabetic when all tests come back negative? I seem to have all the symptoms and my grandfather died from diabetes at a very young age. HELP!
Avatar f tn I went to two doctors. Had gonnohrea and clamydia test 7 days post which were negative. I went to plan parenthood today hoping to get swab test done. They said they didn't do that test. They took urine for second gonnohrea and clamydia test. I just don't know what to do now. My urethra feels like there is urine in it after I pee and there is some sensitivity but I can't get confirmation on whether I have a nsu. Really could use some opinions on this.

Avatar f tn I've proceeded with 3 IUIs and 2 IVFs. After the trigger shot for one IUI and one IVF I tried to "test out" the hCG using pregnancy testing strips, 12 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours after the injections. I used a different brand of hCG for IUI and IVF. All test strips were negative. I used them correctly, and they were purchased for the "test-out." I have endometriosis, autoimmune disease that attacks my adrenals, ovaries and reproductive cells (killer-cells).
127529 tn?1331840780 So this month I am going to use ovulation test strips to see if I am indeed still ovulating. My cycles have been anything from 27 to 40 days in the last six months, with the 40 days being my last cycle but averaging around 32/34 days. I have never used the test strips before and the instructions given are for those with regular cycles. What day would be the best for me to start using them?
178590 tn?1294176767 Having trace of either should be fine. At least when I go for my appts and the dip test shows a slight trace of one or the other, I tell the nurse the results and they have never showed a concern with a trace result. Good for you to do the testing if you ob/gyn is not. Are there other good ob/gyn doctors in your area that you can switch too? If your current doctor is not doing all the regular monitoring that he/she should be, maybe it's time to switch?
1973666 tn?1325964688 Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar f tn m just wondering what is being tested for? I know they test for proteins in the urine, but are they also testing for UTI's and bacteria and things of that nature? I read what someone on this board wrote, and they said that after her OB visit, she was given meds for a UTI. Is that something the urine test will test for?
776572 tn?1360290739 When I first got the O strips, I had difficulty reading the urine strips O test. There were a few months that I wasn't sure if the line was dark enough - not sure if I just caught it ahead of time or just missed it. I got the CBE monitor and found that much easier to read. BBT does not work for me as my temps are very low and all over the place. When I went to the RE he monitored me and I definitely O each month.
1434731 tn?1382722384 what time are you testing? the best time to take an OPK test is between noon and 3pm. the hormone is released in the morning and does not always show up in first morning urine well..... personally i found it easier to just chart and learned to read my CM pretty well over the years. confirmed it with a clear blue fertility monitor over several months to be sure.
Avatar n tn If you really want to have the correct ovulation window you should buy an ovulation kit. This will test your urine for hormones and let you know when the best time for you to have intercourse is. Basically, you should start testing your urine on day 11. It really is the best thing to do. There is a website you can order the ovulation test strips or sticks pretty cheap.
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar f tn I took another digital one the following day and it was negative so I took one of those cheaper test strips and got a possitive. Last night I took another one and it was negative. This morning I took 2 more. One of them is negative and the other looks like there might be a second line, but it's much much MUCH lighter than the ones I took Monday. I'm worried about a chemical pregnancy. Has anyone experienced this? Am I just overly stressing? Please ladies! Help me put my mind to rest!
Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar f tn Be sure your meter is calibrated to the test strips. On the outside of the test strip container is a number. Set the meter to that number. Verify on occasion the meters viability with the test solution supplied. 2. Doesn't matter which finger you use, just be sure it is cleaned prior to using the lancet. A contaminated finger and/or one that is not completely dry will get you a false/positive result.
2020005 tn?1628125976 When I began using OPKs I bought a pack of 20 strips and began testing right after my cycle ended so I could be sure to be aware of when I ovulated. I also used 2 strips a day. Good luck!!
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
