Common Questions and Answers about Urine test strips leukocytes

The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
the penis can itself cause irritation and perhaps discharge. And for sure stop the routine UTI test strips. As I said, they are not designed or calibrated to be used in this way. I hope this has helped.
UrinBilirubin, Blood, Glucose, Ketones, Leukocytes, Nitrite, PH levels, Protein, Specific gravity, Urobilinogen If everything is OK with one of these tests then no further investigation is needed?
i just recently went to the docotr for syptoms of a uti, the docotr said i had leukocytes in my urine but i didnt have a uti, they gave me antibiotics for the last 7 days, i used one of those AZO test strips, a few days after i finished the medications and it says i still have leukocytes in my urine? is that normal or do i have another infection still? the test came up negative for nitrates. there is no other symptoms except for occasional urgency???
I then tested my urine with the AZO strips and it came back positve for Leukocytes but negative for nitrates. Do you think that whatever was wrong with me in May is still wrong with me? Today it seems like I got my period (not sure yet kind of light) and it is not due for 5 days. Any insight on what is happening is greatly appreciated.
I test myself for infection at home now with the Azo kit...and each and every test shows positive for Leukocytes. I have seen a Nephrologist and after a 24 hour urine my Citrate levels were so low that they couldn't even be measured. I took Urocrit until I got an HPylori infection with ulcer...and even so...I got the stones. My new Urologist is promised to not make me feel dismissed and take symptoms seriously...hopefully that's true.
I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing. Then a few days ago my urine appeared green and was testing for blood, leukocytes, protein (I always have this), and still the nitrates(Now positive at any time of day tested). I then began having urgency issues as well as right side flank pain. I went to the Dr.
i have NO burning when i urinate. i took the urine strip test and it showed *trace blood and leukocytes, no nitrites. i also noticed some white 'floating' type things in my urine. i went to urgent care where they did another urine test & it confirmed what my test had shown. my temp and BP were normal. the doc pressed on my back & stomach & i had no pain. the DR wrote me a script for Bactrim DS, one tablet, twice a day for 10 days. i have taken two so far.
A few days later I felt a burning sensation before I urinated and felt the constant need to urinate with only a little urine coming out. It seemed like a UTI so I got azo uti test strips and after using them they tested positive for leukocytes (uti) so I've been drinking lots of water and have been taking cranberry supplements. The symptoms seem to be improving. From the information I just gave am I at risk for STD?
Due to the frequency of my symptoms, I have urinalysis test strips at home. 5 days ago, when my symptoms began, I did a test first thing in the morning (with no voiding during the night), it showed positive for both nitrites and leukocytes (>500). Later that day, I went to the urologist and their urinalysis came back clear. They gave me a bladder instillation (of which I have been doing weekly or bi-weekly).

These had been ongoing for a few months, intensifying in the last few weeks. He gave me a urine strip test which showed nitrites and white blood cells so he prescribed 5 days of 500mg Levaquin. I came back in a week with the same symptoms, he gave another strip test with the same result: nitrites and WBC. He prescribed 2 weeks of 500mg Cipro, twice a day. I noticed no change in my symptoms and so I went to a urologist.
right now is there a way to test i have diabeties like a test urine i can buy?? its very irritating i am always thirsty and my head feel weird like idk but im always thirsty. whats the worst if i have diabeties and the symptoms can i test it myself without going to the doc??
They did not send the urine to a lab. I do not have an infection as the urine strips test for leukocytes (which are fighting infection cells)..
He did a quick test of urine (I guess with the urine test strips) and said it was normal. Then he asked me if STD was a possibility and I said could be due to my brothel visit. He has put me on amoxicillin 1000mg twice a day for 5 days. He told me to visit a urologist if there is still no relief. With this information, could you kindly provide your advice on my questions below. 1.
Now I went and bought a tube of 10 parameter test strips and have been getting some weird results. Now the key things are that I have been having a high specific gravity and occasionally (like when I take it to the dr) I will get either blood or a non-hemolyzed trace.
I then researched that I could purchase an over the counter UTI test strips to see if I STILL had an infection. (I just couldn't believe that after all the antibiotics I had why was I still feeling discomfort?). I took the at home test strip and sadly so I tested positive in Leukocytes and negative in the Nitrite. Now for the 3rd time I went back to the Drs. feeling depressed that I was still dealing with this. I was prescribed Cephalexin, 4x a day for 7 days.
If you notice that the dipsticks have darkened in the container BEFORE you use them to test your urine, contact the company. I buy urine test strips from pulmolab listed below. I buy the cheaper ones, their about $25 fro 100 test strips, about the best price I have found and the company support is excellent. If you have questions or if you get some strips that have a problem they have a good customer service dept. I just buy the packs of plastic cups at Walmart.
, remember I have other symptoms too that have nothing to do with that, like the bleeding two days after sex, the horrible burning seething, throbbing pain two days after as well, the belly bloating, etc. I had tested my urine and saliva on the ph test strips about a week ago and that's what showed the highly acidic urine and saliva. Then I did it a few days later just to be sure and same thing.
However, last week, I decided to get the AZO test strips, and with all three test strips provided, the result was clearly positive for Leukocytes. 1. What could be causing my symptoms? 2. In the US, STD tests do no include Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma, Trichomonas or Gardnerella. In your opinion, should I ask my urologist to order these tests for me? 3. Is it possible that I have been exposed to a bacterial infection that is resistant to all the anti-biotics I've taken? 4.
However, last night, I decided to get the AZO test strips, and with all three test strips provided, the result was clearly positive for Leukocytes. 1. What tests should I ask my urologist to do? 2. What should my next course of treatment be? Is it Cipro? 3. Is persistent UTI common? 4. Can stress play a role in my symptoms?
I would encouraged you to get some urine test strips to keep at home. I can give you some links on places do this. You may have to stay on long term antibiotics treatment. There are some natural antibiotics that are very helpful as well, there are several but my favorite is Silvrbiotics by American Biotech Labs. I can give you a retailer that has it cheaper then anyone else.
Just over two weeks after the episode (16 days to be exact), I went to my PCP and was tested for the usual things. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia by NAAT urine tests and blood test for Syphilis, all tests came back negative. As of today, I have no physical symptoms. I have no sores or redness on my penis and I do not have any burning during urination. My symptoms are an intermitent iritation in the center of my penis pretty close to wear the shaft meets the head.

I use the 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips for home testing. The other way is to catch your urine into a clear and clean recepticle and look and smell your urine. Best time to do this is first thing in the morning and by taking a mid stream sample (wee a bid first, take the sample and then finish weeing into the loo). If you have an infection the urine could smell like kidneys or liver (if you have not smelled them before, have a go at the butchers).
What tests should I ask for to ease my mind. Also my urine is frequently cloudy without infection. At-home test strips say I have leukocytes but no nitrites. Thanks for any advice.
I would also like to add, that I take the UTI home test strips and they always come back negative for nitrites, but a high positive for leukocytes. I have also been told by a few ER docs that I have trace amounts of blood present in my urine. I've been to a regular urologist, and he treated me like I was some kind of hypochondriac. He said he had no idea why I was feeling burning when all of my cultures were negative.
You can buy urinalysis strips yourself to test, they are pretty cheap (about $30 for 100 of the 10 reagent strips). If you mean a urine culture, that will not grow mycoplasma or ureaplasma unless it's a special culture. That is not what is typically used. Now if you do find mycoplasma or ureaplasma if you test for it, that doesn't mean it's the cause of your problems. Many people harbor these bacteria with no symptoms. However, it might be worth checking out.
Following is the result of my recent urine test that I did my self. Leukocytes -ve Nitirite -ve Uro-Bilinogen 0.2 or 3.2 Protein Trace <0.3 PH 6 Blood -ve Specific Gravity 1.025 Keytone -ve Bilirubin Glucose -ve Thanks.
