urine test strips for blood

The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.

I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...

Now what is with these test strips showing blood in my urine every time I get checked at the clinic ? Should I be concerned ?

I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???

What i know is if you are worried about an sti, you need to go for urine tests. Wbc doesnt tell u what sti u have. Thats why there are specific sti test for the uti.

Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. I recently went for my annual exam and my urine test came back with trace blood. They sent it off to the lab and it came back negative for everything except for trace blood. I have no symptoms of a UTI or anything like that. I have been told by several people that this can be normal! But the dr wants me to go to a urologist anyway. I recently bought some reagent strips to measure the blood in my urine and it showed trace amounts of hemolyzed blood. I am currently fighting a case of gastroenteritis, is there any connection and should I go back to the Dr?

they were all urine test i used FRER test i hope i get a blood test at the docs monday to confirm im just so worried but i know its best to loose it this early at 6 weeks than for it to a stillbirth again i just want this so bad im really upset its going to be really hard to wait on the other test

can somebody give me a document for the importance of quantitative test for the microalbumin to know the exact values(some labs still using strips :why should they replaceto quantitative ?

The only advice I can give is to request a confirmation screen where the urine is sent off for analysis instead of the standard test strips. Also, you can request a blood test and offer to pay for it yourself if necessary. Drug testing is not an exact science.

I check my urine at home with Chem Strips to check for protein. To boil down the issue, Genentech tells doctors to measure protein using dipstick urine analysis (Which blood will cause a "false positive" of sorts, its a simple test using strips like you would to test the pH of a pool). Her oncologist does not see any point in exploring alternative testing because that is what Genentech says to do.

I went to two doctors. Had gonnohrea and clamydia test 7 days post which were negative. I went to plan parenthood today hoping to get swab test done. They said they didn't do that test. They took urine for second gonnohrea and clamydia test. I just don't know what to do now. Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.

Testing the urine is one way to check for ketones. You can pick up urine test strips at your local drug store. Just follow the instruction to do the test. If I remember right if the test strip turnes pick you have ketones in your urine, plus the strip tells you if there is blood, glucose, and a couple other things. But If I were you I would go get checked out just incase. I hope this helps.

I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.

I have been monitoring my urine with 10-Parameter test strips. The last few days I have had a lot of blood in my urine (looks like diluted Heinz ketchup). Whereas everything else (except for high specific gravity) was ok previously, the protein has showed from + to ++. If this due to there being more blood? Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!

Thank god the hospital I went to had a program and paid for my medicines but they could not pay for my strips and I now have to check my blood sugars at least 4 times a day. The hospital gave me 40 strips to get me by for 10 days but I'm not sure what I am going to do for the strips after that. I applied for Medicaid while I was in the hospital but they are not sure if I will qualify because my husband works.
