Avatar m tn As a diabetic you are at risk for diabetic nephropathy, a kidney disease which is a complication of having persistantly high blood sugar levels. Docors ususally test for this by measuring microalbumin (which is a protein) in the urine. If this lab value becomes elevated, your doctor will typically start you on an ACE inhibitor, which will help slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy, along with good control of blood sugars.
Avatar m tn Around two months ago I started seeing a nephrologist to see if the blood is coming from the kidneys, and around the same time my UA test started showing protein in my urine. Bellow are the results of my last UA and a 24hr urine protein. With this results, Is the protein in my urine secondary to the gross hematuria or am I having protein in my urine because some how my kidneys are not working right??? Any help will be really appreciated.
Avatar m tn I recently got my urine test done with the military and they sent me a letter asking for a family doctor to re-interpret the results and/or do a new urine test. On the info sheet, 3 lines were highlighted and the results were given beside then: Protein - 1+ Ketones - TRACE Bilirubin - 2+ I'm stressing a bit because I did some research online and the articles said that it might be a kidney problem. With me trying to get into the Air Force I need to be physically and mentally healthy.
Avatar f tn The other test you have looks like a urinalysis( test for the urine) you have blood in your urine but only BLD + 5 UL.
Avatar n tn My father is hiding it from us, I donot know what is the reason behind this but being his son I want to know the reality please help me out so that I can inform it to other family members before its too late please for GOD sake help me out. If it is not a urine report then what is it? Please reply me with full details and if there is anything serious please do let me know.
Avatar m tn Again if you are still concerned after the urinalysis you could also consider an abdominal ultrasound. This is a test where we can look at all the abdominal organs with sound waves. Many congenital kidney diseases will show up on this tests. The fact that your puppy is energetic and playful and that his urine is yellow makes me less concerned. Finally please make sure you get a fecal exam to check your puppy for internal parasites. That can be a common cause for the border line anemia.
Avatar m tn Obviously, he has severe anemia and no amount of iron will fix this kind. I have never heard of chemotherapy for kidney disease or kidney damage. I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.
Avatar m tn There is a combined diagnostic process for kidney disease. This includes BUN, creatinine, phosphorus, calcium and potassium levels in blood. Specific gravity and protein leakage (and any UTIs) in urine testing. Blood pressure check. Ideally, a scan and xrays of the kidneys. If possible, an SDMA (Idexx Labs) test should be done as well. Collectively, these are the indicators for kidney disease, although only some of them being abnormal would point to early disease.
Avatar f tn Hi, Hematuria or blood in the urine can be due to many conditions. such as trauma, stones, infections, viral infections, nonspecific inflammations of the kidney or obstructions of the urinary tract. The evaluation of hematuria requires that examining the entire urinary tract including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Management of blood in urine depends upon the underlying cause. It is good that your cytoscopy showed normal results.
452332 tn?1329009513 Is it possible to have a beginning stage of kidney disease and receive normal test results for the BUN and creatinine blood tests? 2. If I explain this to a nephrologist, would he/she be willing to run tests, or just say everything is normal unless the BUN and creatinine are out of range? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi, Urine test showed normal results, minimal protein, white blood cells and red blood cells. This rules out presence of infection or proteinuria. Your 24 hour collection shows normal amount of 1700 ml (Normal volume 800-2000 ml). However, the normal values of albumin in 24 hours is less than 30 milligrams (mg). When your kidneys do not work well and leak between 165 and 300 mg of albumin in 24 hours, your doctor may check your urine more often to watch for kidney damage.
Avatar m tn Could my BUN have been normal and still have kidney disease or failure, and also no protein was found in my urine, soo......????
171927 tn?1294023723 Plus exercise and other things can give you different results. That way its more like a fasting urine test. It helps eliminate the chance that what you are eating is the cause of your lab levels. I have a lot of experience with kidney /bladder problems and kidney disease so if you want to message me I would be more than happy to answer anything you want to ask.
Avatar f tn I just found out my creatinine ration was 481.6 mg/g. Everywhere I read it says that I have kidney disease. But my mineral counts are normal, at least the ones I've been tested for anyway. My doctor is doing another urine test. I'll know the results in about a week. I'm scared. What do I need to do to not progress my disease?
Avatar n tn i did a urine test recently and the results showed that there were traces of blood . The result showed 3-5 in range (/hpf) and <3 in ref.range. I do not know what does it mean. However, when I see the doctor, he said that it might be due to inflammation of the kidney and he said it might be due to some fever when I was young or other things that cause it. But, he told me not to worry and nothing was wrong as I did not experience any pain while passing urine. Is this true?
Avatar n tn In my urine routine test i found Occessional RBCs and occult blood. I diid other tests like Himogram,Urine crtena,24 hr protein. All test found normal. Avatar n tn Erythorcytes :10 - 15 seen, littlehigher, Kidney function test, PSA test is normal, kidney stone test negative.. Doctor examined and said no problem of prostrate. He has pain while passing urine and gets tired after passing urine. WHat might be the cause for RCB to be seen in the Urine?
Avatar m tn My enquiries are so I can offer some help. Kidney disease is a very complex condition and different blood results and staging of the disease involve different diet requirements. It would also be helpful if you could let me know whether you are using any supplements or medications for her. And please let me know whether she has had a blood pressure check since being diagnosed. Finally, you may want to join our special group for owners with dogs that have kidney disease here on MedHelp.
Avatar n tn all I can find is 1) uncontrolled diabetes... not it. 2) pregnancy... nope. 3) meningitis... no fever! 4) kidney disease or damage... my kidney function test came back normal. 5) tumors... Avatar f tn Back in early December 2013, my beloved fur baby Boomer had routine blood work done. The vet said his levels were slightly high and mentioned possible kidney disease. The kidney disease-related levels were as follows: BUN: 31 (normal 7-27) Creatinine: 1.8 (normal 0.5-1.8) Phosphorous: 5.5 (normal 2.5-6.8) Hematocrit: 53% (normal 37-55%) Urine specific gravity: 1.015 (normal 1.016-1.
Avatar f tn urine calcium done and it was normal. My kidney function is normal too. I also have Graves Disease too, and I am HYPOthyroid now, but still on Anti-thyroid medicine! I am waiting to see a third Endo Dr. Which hopefully I get in soon! I am so frustrated, I am tired of feeling so fatigued every single day. Other than that I feel o.k.
Avatar n tn I will have the tests redone and hopefully, the results will be correct. Diabetic kidney disease is a family condition (my father and grandfather both died from it). I have been very closely monitored and have taken Vasotec (Enalapril) for about 13 years to keep my blood pressure lower than normal. Since there is no change in my blood pressure and the A1c results were very good, it does appear lab error (and not extreme kidney problems) are the problem.
Avatar n tn I have hypothyroidism. My T3 level appears to be in the normal range. We are adjusting my thyroid medication as my symptoms are severe along with a 12 pound weight gain in 6 weeks. We tested for Cortisol for Cushings Disease. I don't understand everything. Below are my results. Cortisol Urine Free Per Volume -- 7.17 ug/l. Cortisol Urine Free Ration to CRT 6.58 ug/l CRT. Cortisol Urine Free per 24-h 13.4 ug/d (<=45.00 standard range). Cortisol Urine Free per volume 109 mg.
Avatar n tn I was referred to a kidney specialist who reviewed my results and ordered more lab work and had me do a fasting (food and water) blood and urine test but it all came back normal. What else could cause diluted urine. I am about to loose the job because I can't pass the drug test. I am not trying to cover up or hide anything and the employer won't let me take the blood drug test unless I have a medical diagnosis. Please help!
82861 tn?1333453911 They can become elevated if there is a urinary tract infection, a kidney infection or a prostate infection, or the elevations can be caused by damage to the kidney (either kidney disease or kidney failure). A urinalysis with a microalbuminuria test will determine if it is an infection or kidney failute. Lyme disease can commonly effect the kidneys also causing kidney failure. So if it has not been performed yet I would have your dog's urine tested and perform a lyme disease test.
