Avatar n tn Different labs use somewhat different ranges for normal. One lab described normal for serum calcium as 8.5 – 10.9 mg/dL. So while your 10.3 was high for the lab you used—over your lab's normal by .1—it would have been in the normal range for the other lab. Your doctor might have taken that into account. With regard to bilirubin in your blood: The other lab listed .2 to 1.9 mg/dL as normal in the blood. Again while your 1.4 was high for your lab—over your lab's normal by .
Avatar f tn I just took a PTH and calcium test because I have a lot of symptoms of thyroid or parathyroid problems. I also just started taking a Vitamin D 25 pill at 50,000 units 3x a week. My Vitamin D from this last blood test was 60 (normal for the first time ever!!), my calcium was 9.6 mg/dl and my PTH was 14pg/ml, my creatinine was .6 mg/dl. My doctor said all of this was in the normal range.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you have had some evaluation of your urine in the past for high calcium levels. The best test for a "metabolic" evaluation is a 24 hour urine test (where you collect urine in a jar for 24 hrs and the total amount is analyzed for different constituents (i.e. calcium, citrate, magnesium, etc.) It is unusual to have calcium deposition in one area of the bladder where you had a previous procedure and not have other kidney stones.
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago I had a 24 hour urine test done along with a potassium test ,was wondering how long do these test usually take and what exactly are these test looking for?
Avatar f tn I am new here and I was hoping that someone would be able to shed some light on my most recent test results. Here is a little background. I am 31, female, and in poor health. I have Lyme, Bartonella, Babesiosis, RA, and a list of other health conditions. I was hospitalized in January for an infected port a cath (pseudomonas) which turned into sepsis. I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox.
Avatar f tn Ever since then I have been experiencing pain in my back (left side) After many months I finally was sent to a Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) they did a 24 hr urine collection and a CT scan. Results came back over 600mg of calcium in urine. Norm is 250mg. They also found multiple cysts in my left kidney. I have been seeing her and doing these tests now every 3 months and my calcium levels are still high even with being on a Diruretic she prescribed.
Avatar m tn hi all, i have no experience with kidneys tests and since i take an antiviral which can damage kidneys and i found albumine in urine in last test i ask if results are very bad or it can be normal to detect some from time to time albumine in urine 3mg/dl (0-2) cystatin C 0.98 (0.56-0.95) after i took an antibiotic in feb 2015 my creatinine clearance lowered to 88-90 (min 80) and creatinine got higher to 1.1-1.2 (before 0.8-0.9).
Avatar m tn I’ve had elevated calcium since January and my PTH is in the normal range although higher than yours. I’ve also been worried about cancer. The parathyroid specialist I’m seeing ran some cancer tests but not nearly as thorough as your tests. I had a 4D CT scan of the parathyroid and it did show an adenoma. I think you should see a parathyroid specialist if you can. You can still have hyperparathyroidism with a normal PTH.
1093351 tn?1317810854 There is no reason to wait any more than 1 week for repeat lab tests, and there is no reason to get a urine calcium level on the vast majority of patients--its a test with no value. Finally, remember that getting scans is NOT part of the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism. Ever.
Avatar f tn Thyroid labs are good, but your calcium level is too low! Low calcium can make you sick sick sick! Are you taking high dosage of calcium with the right ration of vit d3 for absorption? I would run quick from any Dr that wants to tag you with anxiety because they are too lazy to figure out what is wrong! Look up the symptoms of low calcium. You deserve better care.....
Avatar f tn So I have had tons of blood work done and urine test and nuclear scans and CT scans. Its not a parathyroid issue that was ruled out.The scans show nothing on my parathyroids. I am waiting on my thyroid biopsy results. But my doctor has brought up Cancer. I have High calcium levels in my blood 11.2 and in my urine.438.0, PTH 7.19, Protein in urine 321 Vitamin D 38 I am just looking for outside possibilities maybe an idea of what else to look for or look at.
Avatar m tn He indicated it was more like a cyst. I also got the results of my urine test and found out I have a bladder infection today. Today I had a CT scan with and without the contrast dye. My question is...what is a renal calcification??? From what I read on the internet it sounds like a kidney stone but the doctor indicated it was not a kidney stone and is approx 7mm by 10mm. I am a smoker, overweight and also my aunt and grandmother had kidney cancer.
Avatar m tn I am age 50, and have a 12 year history of Borderline high serum calcium levels usually around 10-10.2(range 8.6-10.3), and on a few occasions several years ago a 10.3. My pcp has never commented it as abnormal. However, on my most recent labs, the calcium level came in at 10.4, and she finally commented. A repeat labs done 13 days later revealed a calcium level of 11.1 with a pth intact of 18(range 16-77), and then a referal to endo.
Avatar f tn But this is so strange cause I went to the gyno the other day and she did a normal urine test and she didnt pick up anything. I am very confused. Can someone help me please?
Avatar n tn Did they do a blood calcium test or a urine calcium test? Calcium in the blood is all well and good as it shows you have calcium, BUT if you have a high level of calcium in the urine that means your Vit D is not doing its job, and is sending it bye-bye. Yes, see an endocrinologist. Too many doctors have too little knowledge in this field. I am having severe low calcium (rather than high) and low Vit D issues (even after taking supplements) so I know where your concerns come from!
Avatar n tn 5 one month ago, and re-test within the last week came back 9.5. My ionized calcium was tested last week too, and that was at 1.28. My PTH was 20. I know high calcium and high PTH is a clear indication of parathyroid issues for most doctors. I am experiencing many of the signs of hyperparathyroid such as fatigue, difficulty sleeping, irritability, kidney stones, osteoporosis (found via a CT scan of my kidneys, I have a bone density scan scheduled next week).
Avatar f tn Now at 48 I have acute high calcium levels in blood and urine. My 24 urine came back with a note from the lab that the test had to have been done improperly because my levels were impossibly high. I had my submandibular gland removed last May and it was calcified and full of sarcoidosis. So now I have sarcoidosis hypercalcicuria along with fibromyalgia. If you feel like you have the flu from the neck up, sore throats and such check for sarcoidosis. My gland never swelled!!!
Avatar n tn This is most likely primary hyperpara -- with the stones it does not matter if the urine calcium is high -- in fact the urine calcium of patients with primary hyperpara is unpredictable - so not worth re-measuring if the PTH is high and the Calcium is high (yes, even 10.3 with a normal up to 10.2). Post the results and I will follow along.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Therefore, I checked my labs and back in Nov. my result for my calcium was also near the top. Me now knowing that vitamin D and calcium go more or less hand & hand and that too much calcium can cause toxicity really scared me. Have you ever heard of such?
668044 tn?1225913014 then about my urine (i have a little kind of infection but nothing bad). But nothing about the iron, calcium, cholesterol or anything else more detailed. I may be wrong but i think he didn't give me the real blood analysis. Can you help me? Thanks a lot...
Avatar f tn I was having bad flank pain on the right side and went to my primary dr who said she thought it was muscle spasms and nothing kidney related. However she did a dip urine test in office and it showed a trace of blood. She then said she would forward to the lab further further eval. Well I still have the pain its worse when I sit or lay for a period of time. I received the report in a patient portal thing before the dr office called.
