Common Questions and Answers about Urine test protein albumin

Avatar m tn Hello, Pus cells are indicative of infection while albumin in the urine represents protein in urine or proteinuria. It can happen due to renal causes or other causes like infections, sarcoidosis, multiple myeloma, and SLE. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
336365 tn?1213319598 The spinal was cancelled for unrelated reasons. My 24 hour urine test came back with high protein and blood in the urine (this has been on-going for years). My neurologist had a fit and ordered this test. See results above. I was diagnosed with White Matter Disease after two years of MRI results. The Spinal was because of suspicion of Multiple Sclerosis. I did have the Lumbar Puncture this past Tuesday and no results yet.
Avatar n tn I recently took a 24 hr urine test. I was told that I showed "some" protein in my urine and that the doctor would recommend me to an endocronologist. OK, should I be worried??!! What can cause this? Can it be treated? Is there a scale of the amount of protein one should have vs. not have? Could this also cause reproductive problems? I watch my diet and exercise. What could have brought this on? WHat steps should I now take to take charge of my health?
Avatar f tn Low albumin levels can reflect diseases in which the kidneys cannot prevent albumin from leaking from the blood into the urine and being lost. In this case, the amount of albumin (or protein) in the urine also may be measured. Low albumin levels can also be seen in inflammation, shock, and malnutrition.
Avatar m tn Hi, Urine test showed normal results, minimal protein, white blood cells and red blood cells. This rules out presence of infection or proteinuria. Your 24 hour collection shows normal amount of 1700 ml (Normal volume 800-2000 ml). However, the normal values of albumin in 24 hours is less than 30 milligrams (mg). When your kidneys do not work well and leak between 165 and 300 mg of albumin in 24 hours, your doctor may check your urine more often to watch for kidney damage.
Avatar n tn t something to be worried about, but if your urine is consistently foamy you should have a test to see if protein is in your urine called a urine albumin test. If you are worried why don't you consult your endocronologist and see if he/she thinks it is cause for concern and possibly the urine albumin test.
Avatar m tn My doctor said my Kidneys were leaking protein in my urine is this something to worry about? What does it all actually mean?
1068422 tn?1293684253 Urine protein electrophoresis pattern shows the presence of Albumin and trace amounts of other protein fractions. No evidence of excretion of Monoclonal proteins or monoclonal light chains. Medical Info. 48 Years old...Female. Type 1 diabetic Vit D. Defecency Epilepsy - Tramatic Brain Injury White Matter Disease Minimal High Blood Pressure Severe Neurogenic Bladder I had 26 vials of blood tested and a 24 hour urine test about 2 months ago in preparation for a spinal tap.
Avatar f tn Want to add one more thing, since I am senile from all this stuff that is/was similar to what you had, and are taking. Did they do a urine test as well? Because, if you are spilling albumin the serum levels would also be low, and that is the case with me, but I am sure your doctor would have told you that, or the report. Don't worry too much, OK?
Avatar n tn My nephrologist ordered a random routine Urine test and a 24 hour urine protein test. Both the tests came back normal. The urine routine also tested for nitrates and bilirubin and they are absent too. The urine specfic gravity and pH are normal too. This test however does not check Calcium levels. The 24 hour test says that over a 24 hour period my kidneys let out 25.5 mg of protein in 1.5 litres of urine. I was measured my fluid intake on the day of test to be 1.0 litre.
Avatar f tn this was not the test i wanted but it will work. my question is protein and albumin are 6.5 and 3.9 respectfully. alt 26 ast 24 bili is good. what can i do about alb and pro being low? also i went to doc today and i had to sign another release that changed the routine. i now have to bring my first morning pee in to my appt. With low albumin and protein along with this change im thinking kidney problems arising?
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for your response. Are you considering nephrotic syndrome then given the sudden onset blindness as well? If so would that be consistent with the ascites - serosanguinous exudate-apologies it had a LOW cell count, not a high one as previously stated? Have read about the connection with glomerular disease and inflammatory condtions like pancreatitis. Now I just heard the cat has tested postitive for it with an fPLI of 15.
Avatar f tn high sodium, creatinine, protein in urine, and albumin/Creatinine ratio. Low uric acid, creatinine renal clearance, GFR 52 These are from blood, spot urine and 24 hour urine test.. Foamy urine, nauseated daily.
Avatar m tn To add something, i had the Total Protein/Albumin test 2,5 years ago and the levels were Total Protein 8.7 Albumin 5.2 Globulin 3.5 So Globulins are elevated by 0.3g/dL.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if the home urine tests (the 14 parameter) tests are accurate? Mine is showing 0.9 creatine, 80-150 micro albumin, trace amounts of protein & bilirubin. No glucose. This has been going on for several weeks. I am not sure if I should ask my doctor about it, or if it's insignificant because it's just a urine test.
2211588 tn?1374138003 On nov 2011 i feel my urine is red so test my urine at that time too, there was 70-90-rbc and albumin showed up after consulting doc he again adviced me to do same and more test like ultrasound, KFT and xray. On uprise all report came normal on very next day, after that, i did urine routine test 2 times randomly when i feel pain on my lower back. and all test showed normal.
Avatar f tn However I do have protein, leukocytes, and microscopic mucus threads in my urine, obvious UTI, but thought it was relevant. I also have a history of chronic UTIs (and other infections) as well as kidney stones, and a liver mass. I know that this is a lot of information, but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you!!!
Avatar n tn Excess protein in the urine is called as proteinuria and usually it is albumin that is lost through urine. Some protein is normal in the urine. A 24 hour estimation of protein loss in urine would be optimal to estimate the level of proteinuria. Conditions which can cause proteinuria are nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, dehydration, collagen vascular diseases, strenuous exercises, diabetes mellitus, infections, multiple myeloma etc.
Avatar m tn ( cant find any. My urine test was done at a labratory not in the doctors office.
