Hello, Occult blood in urine can be due to urinary tract (bladder) infection, swelling in the filtering system of the kidneys ,stone in bladder or in a kidney, blood disease, like sickle cell anemia, polycystic kidney disease, certain medicines and tumors in the urinary tract. I suggest you to consult a urologist and get it evaluated. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
No, it is not normal to find any amount of blood in the urine. The doctor will probably want to test your urine again. If it does not settle, he will probably refer you to a urologyst or send you for ultra sound to check out the urinary tract. He may also examine your prostate. Blood in the urine can be from urinary infection, kidney stones, and prostate problems in men.
Would this possibly cause the trace of occult blood in the urine analysis (the reference range was reported as negative). The doctor tested me a few days later and there was no trace of occult blood in the urine. I had not been working out or drinking. Should I be concerned? All my blood workup was normal and I am healthly. I take an aspirin a day, omega and multiple vitiman and 20 MG of Lipitor. Typically I don't drink and do yoga 4-5x a week.
I am a little confused with regard to your blood in the urine. So has blood been detected in your urine when you had your last urine test? Or is it something that is detected from time to time? I am not a doctor and probably would not know what all your test results mean. I am aware of some urine problems like I mentioned in my early message due to my own experience and using a reagent test strip. A laboratory test on the urine is more accurate and gives actual levels. Best wishes.

I just had a thyroid ultrasound and the nodules are the same size. I just had a CBC done. All tests were normal. I have had occult blood in the urine fluctuating from 2+ to 4+ for 8 years and have had an urography and 2 cystoscopies done. It seems to be idiopathic. I also had the CEA and CA 19-9 blood tests done, but the CA 19-9 was 10 points above normal.

The last study we debated here on occult HCV, from the occult group, found all their patients had HCV blood Viral Load of 8-400 vge/ml... IN BLOOD. Easily found by available to us, sensitive PCR or TMA vl testing. And the above study even mentions they found "serum HCV RNA" Although I do understand your confusion because of the jump around methodology and varying different protocols your occult study groups use. Please define exactly what occult HCV virus is.

Aside from being anemic (again, that's pretty much normal for me) my last urine tests showed occult blood, and RBC's (it had a 6 by it, whatever that means).
The other reason is bleeding somewhere in the body, like a bleeding peptic or duodenal ulcer. Hence get a stool examination done for occult blood. The other causes of bleeding gut is IBS, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Also even if you have a symptomatic stone in the kidney or anywhere in the urinary system, then it can also cause microscopic blood in urine. Get a urine routine and microscopic examination. Internal bleeding of any kind can cause low blood pressure.
This can certainly cause the flank pain as well as blood in the urine. The best test to evaluate this would be a non-contrast CT scan - this should certainly be considered. If negative, then it may be possible that chronic NSAID use (i.e. with ibuprofen) can cause the blood in the urine. Blood tests looking for any kidney dysfunction should be considered. You may want to discuss obtaining these tests - especially the CT scan - with your personal physician, or obtain a urology referral.

ER doctor could not find any sign of infection through visual exam of ears, throat, and chest. Urine test was fine. Blood work showed HIGH WBC. All previous blood work (when she had no fever) showed normal WBC. Do any of you get these unexplained fevers? Other issue: She has to have blood flow issues because her skin will have dark red blotchy areas (mainly on shoulders, arms, & chest) and her feet will be purple/gray in color after standing still for just a few mins.
My new doctor recomanded that I go see a urologist for the blood in the urine and schedule a colonoscopy for the blood in the rectum. Yesterday I saw the urologist. The urine test performed in her office found infection. I was given Cipro 500mg. I started to take my first pill today. Next week I will be having an MRI of abdomen and pelvis +/- gadalinium for hematuria.

Although, when my pain and symptopms first began 5 months ago, I had bno sign of any skin eruptions. But wouldn't a blood test have revealed this type of viral infection? Also, some other questions for those with the Shingles theory: has your pain been primarily surface pain, or does it sometimes feel intestinal or like a pulled abdominal muscle - or sometimes just like pressure inside pushing out? My pain also moves around from day to day and changes in intensity.
Each time the protein and blood in urine returned after less than a week. I do not have UTI symptoms such as pain / burning / trouble urinating. My only symptom is blood / protein in urine and swelling in my legs ankles, arms, face, and the left side of my stomach. The swelling started three years ago along with the protein, but the blood in urine only within the last year. I have been to a urologist and had a CT scan of my kidneys which is normal. No kidney stones.
I have many other issues going on also, but not sure if they could be related. I have blood in stool, or just blood bm. I also have blood and protein in my urine. The blood in the urine is rbc's and stool samples always show occult blood. Thanks for any and all help!
