Avatar n tn What is/are the urine test(s) definitive for the diagnosis of untreated Lyme Disease?
Avatar f tn I have heard that a urine test for Lyme Disease is more accurate than a blood test. If this is this correct, does Igenix perform the urine test??
1640442 tn?1302449164 my western blot test and two other test came back positive however the pcr test for lyme came back neg the pcr test give a faulse neg?
Avatar f tn Has anyone experience this with antibiotics? Do you think it is related to the abx or the Lyme or something else? My last urine test was normal, but with slightly raised sodium. Please could someone advise me on how to proceed?
Avatar f tn Testing for Lyme Disease is also extremely inaccurate. The tests only pick up on 50% of cases of Lyme Disease. If they have already tested you for it, have them test you again. I know from personal experience, because I was sick with many symptoms for months and doctors had no idea what was wrong with me. It turned out it was Lyme Disease, even though all the doctors said my tests were negative for it. There is a really good Lyme Disease section right here on MedHelp.
1297538 tn?1278546102 I just mailed in my LUAT Lyme Urine Antigen Test to IgeneX today. I have to say that the three antibiotics I was on (Doxcy, Flagyl and Zithromax) were pretty rough! I'm wondering if anyone has heard and or done this test and knows what results can be expected. I did have a suspiciously negative Wester blot IgG and IgC test come back which prompted my LLMD to do this LUAT test. Anyone have any experience with this? How accurate is it?? Any help is appreciate! Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I actually went through this with my own dog and being int he field I did my own bloodwork on her. What test did they do for lyme? The accurate test to get is a lyme quantitative C6 Ab test. This will give you a level of antibodies.
Avatar n tn A variety of tests are available. Many doctors who are unfamiliar with Lyme disease just use the Lyme test available in their local laboratory. This is usually the Lyme ELISA. This tests measure a patient’s antibody, IgM and/or IgG, in response to exposure to the Lyme bacteria. By today’s standards, these tests are not very sensitive. IGeneX, Inc. will only perform the ELISA test in conjuction with Western Blots.
362692 tn?1248639193 Even though Craig had another Igenex Lyme test which was again negative, he insisted Craig could still have Lyme. he stressed the antibiotics. But I just can't believe someone could have Lyme if the bands are all negative. This same Lyme neuro also wrote a book on Lyme. He is actually treating chronic Lyme with LDN with great success. He also believes that chronic Lyme can present as an autoimmune disorder, so that is why he is now treating it with LDN.
Avatar f tn Hi there. I'm a 34-year old female. I have been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. Despite this diagnosis, I have the impression that I may be experiencing recurrent bladder infections rather than solely inflammation, as my symptoms have always improved with antibiotics. The reason the diagnosis was given is that despite my symptoms, my urinalysis and urine cultures usually come back clear. I would like a second opinion as to whether an "occult infection" may be present.
Avatar m tn Can Lyme s disease lie dormant in body over years ie 5 yrs ..cause rat s urine ?
Avatar f tn s reaction to the Lyme bacteria, the PCR test looks for DNA of the Lyme bacteria in your blood -- that is, a direct test, rather than an indirect test like W.blot/ELISA. Docs who are not particularly up to date on Lyme do not 'believe' in the PCR test but do believe that W.blot/ELISA is fully accurate. If you need help finding a Lyme specialist who understands all this, let us know.
Avatar m tn I have had weird undiagnosed symptoms so I did a Lyme disease test through Igenex. My test results overall came back as negative, but my IgM 41 was positive and IgG was indecisive/soft positive, also my IFA was equivocal meaning not positive or negative. Could this be something worth investigating further? I have brain lesions which would be explained by Lyme disease and many symptoms that could be explained by Lyme.
Avatar m tn I ask them if he could have Lyme disease because he had been hunting. Finally they did a blood test they said was for Lyme disease but we have heard nothing in three days. ..
Avatar m tn (If this is a duplicate message from me, just ignore ... I thought I had responded.) I'm not medically trained, but I had Lyme several years ago, and your symptoms are quite similar to what mine were ... but Lyme is tricky, so not everyone has the same list of indicators.
Avatar m tn I was tested for lyme disease over a year ago by my family physician. Test results came back negative. I was reading an article in a magazine concerning symptoms of lyme disease and everything listed as symptoms I seem to have. I am trying to find a specialist in my area who is knowledgable in this area. Should I have another blood test done to see if things have changed?
Avatar f tn Me too I come up neg with the 2 lyme titer I had and they dont do anything else herein CA unless you find a hugely expensive Naturopath,
Avatar n tn Welcome to MedHelp Lyme -- Yes, I would have more testing done, but it's not just the test that is important -- it's the doctor who is reading the test that is key. There is a split in the medical community about how to diagnose Lyme and how to treat it. So-called mainstream docs rely almost entirely on the usual tests, which you probably had (called W.
Avatar f tn Sorry for the info overload! You say: "Ive been on the antibiotics for a week now almost... no better, no worse." It has to be the right antibiotics for each infection, and Lyme ticks often carry more than just Lyme. Treatment for Lyme isn't like an earache -- it often takes months of meds -- and Lyme also can really wear you out. Even after treatment, it can take a while to get the old energy back again ... kind of like having a baby.
Avatar f tn Sounds like Lyme Disease or Q Fever. Many people with Lyme Disease test negative. Unfortunately most doctors think that a negative blood test excludes Lyme, which it doesn't. People test negative for a variety of reasons, like what strain of the bacteria they have, whether they've been sick more than a few months, and whether you've had any immune suppressing drugs or a coinfection along with Lyme that also suppresses the immune system.
Avatar m tn He has been on Doxycycline for a week now, even though his results for Lyme were negative. Is it normal to have negative results if you do have Lyme disease? Is it normal for a fever to last for weeks. When can he expect to start feeling better? Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Lyme Borrelia Test (CPT: 86617)—Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme Disease) by Western Blot analysis. Justification: Many CFS, FMS and RA patients have this systemic infection (diagnosed as Lyme Disease) along with other co-infection(s). http://www.immed.org/illness/clinical_testing.html The good news is antibiotics not only treat the lyme bacteria, but mycoplasma (found in many RA patients) as well ! So antibiotic therapy should have solved most of her lyme symptoms and even her RA symptoms.
1029507 tn?1287714315 In January, the CDC changed its website on Lyme Disease testing to say that a negative test result cannot be used to exclude Lyme Disease, and that it is a clinical diagnosis. I would imagine that if you printed a copy of this and gave it to whoever is requiring a Western Blot, that should satisfy them.
Avatar f tn Hopefully you will have some luck and success getting tested for Lyme - while your symptoms don't have to be Lyme, they could very well be Lyme (not to forget co-infections). You may need to find a Lyme dr. to interpret the results if they aren't definitive enough for a non-Lyme expert to read. Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
Avatar n tn they did test me for lyme disease negative, all my blood test are coming back normal no rh factor, thyroid fine, cbc ok, blood is not showing anything.
326184 tn?1348809108 If you have Lyme disease, can it cause lesions in the brain..? could it be Lyme disease? Is a test for this done when ms is suspected or does it have to be ask for? Thank you in advance for any responses.. I have joined many different areas on MedHelp under cantsleep2007..
4451049 tn?1387153437 I'm not willing to say definitively that Lyme disease is the cause of your urinary retention but.....it should be considered. "We observed that the urinary tract may be involved in 2 respects in the course of Lyme disease: 1) voiding dysfunction may be part of neuro-borreliosis and 2) the spirochete may directly invade the urinary tract." From Pubmed article #8540796 There are other Pubmed articles of the same type speaking to Lyme.
Avatar f tn t read much about it, but I would also want the Urine PCR test to look for Borrellia (Lyme) DNA in the urine. Man, this is proof positive of the organism in the body. The Igenex kit now apparently comes with the supplies to run this test, but I don't know the cost or if insurance would cover. For those without a molecular biology background. If the organism is in the body replicating and dying there will be a release of it's DNA into the blood.
