Avatar m tn Trying to get an answer here...sorry about the repost. My urine test wasn't specifically a Chlamydia test (I don't think...see lab results above). Does the urine test described reveal any info about possibly having Chlamydia? Thanks...
Avatar m tn Docors ususally test for this by measuring microalbumin (which is a protein) in the urine. If this lab value becomes elevated, your doctor will typically start you on an ACE inhibitor, which will help slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy, along with good control of blood sugars. If you are having trouble maintaining good blood sugar levels, I suggest you go to your doctor and rework your medication and diabetes control plan. Keeping your sugars under control is crucial.
Avatar m tn It takes 1-2 hr to do the test. All additional time is in processing: sending specimen to the lab, waiting until there are enough specimens to fill a test run (since they're tested in batches, not individually), getting results into a computer, and finally communicating results to the doc's office. In high volume settings, like public STD clinics, the tests often are available the next day. In others, it can be a week or more.
Avatar f tn You pm'd me that your doctor was adamant that you can not get pregnant because you have not had sex. Are you actually asking if you are pregnant again? You get results immediately from both of those if they were for pregnancy. As in right there and then.
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago I had a 24 hour urine test done along with a potassium test ,was wondering how long do these test usually take and what exactly are these test looking for?
Avatar n tn I took a urine drug test at my painclinic.I peed in a glass with no lines,no strips.the nurse took it in a room, came back with a folder for me to sign. The folder was flat, how can my urine be in that folder ? or is it something else they send.
Avatar m tn As you can imagine, I was very anxious to get to the bottom of whether I was positive/negative for Type 2 and a further urine and swab test was conducted by the lab a month later and reported as negative. Also, the lab as they had made a mistake with the reporting of the earlier test, agreed to run igm and igg blood tests for me. This came out positive for HSV1 - no surprises there, have had many cold sores, and negative for HSV2. The IGM test came out negative for both IGG and IGM.
Avatar n tn When they test for M'done in urine (at least on a clinic) they test for it's metabolite (called EDDP for short) & it's ratio to creatinine levels, There is a drug called Bentyl (Dicycloverine) prescribed for IBS that can potentially cause a false positive. There may be others too. It also depends on how good the lab is that is doing the testing. Sometimes there's sloppy work or cross-contamination, particularly in the 'collection' phase. I'd request a retest.
Avatar f tn One change from the last time I posted - they had told me over the phone that the lab said the urine test was positive. So I thought I had two positive tests. However, the lab had given the nurse incorrect information (over the phone) and the test was actually negative (when the report came back). The tests were less than a week apart - could I have cleared the infection have cleared by then? Guess what I am really getting at is - I can't get my husband to admit he exposed me to an STD.
Avatar n tn First of all, normal values may vary slightly from lab to lab. Next to the results, it should have an "H" if the result is considered "High". So check that. Remember that sometimes, taking certain medications like cholesterol medications can cause elevated liver function test results. That's why the doctor orders the test in the first place, to see if the meds are not hurting the liver.

Avatar m tn I recently got my urine test done with the military and they sent me a letter asking for a family doctor to re-interpret the results and/or do a new urine test. On the info sheet, 3 lines were highlighted and the results were given beside then: Protein - 1+ Ketones - TRACE Bilirubin - 2+ I'm stressing a bit because I did some research online and the articles said that it might be a kidney problem. With me trying to get into the Air Force I need to be physically and mentally healthy.
Avatar m tn Maybe see if there is a location there near you or speak with your doctor and tell him you understand he needs a screening but you cannot afford it - call around with the cpt code the doctor will use for the test and see if you can find your own lab that will do it cheaper. He should do it if you agree to go straight to the lab when they require a test.
Avatar m tn The Dr I used to see in ALA said there are too many variables to add or delete in urine level test so to get a accurate test of level you need blood work done. Ask for a blood work drug level test to get the accurate results.
