When they test for M'done in urine (at least on a clinic) they test for it's metabolite (called EDDP for short) & it's ratio to creatinine levels,
There is a drug called Bentyl (Dicycloverine) prescribed for IBS that can potentially cause a false positive. There may be others too. It also depends on how good the lab is that is doing the testing. Sometimes there's sloppy work or cross-contamination, particularly in the 'collection' phase.

Maybe see if there is a location there near you or speak with your doctor and tell him you understand he needs a screening but you cannot afford it - call around with the cpt code the doctor will use for the test and see if you can find your own lab that will do it cheaper. He should do it if you agree to go straight to the lab when they require a test.

It takes 1-2 hr to do the test. All additional time is in processing: sending specimen to the lab, waiting until there are enough specimens to fill a test run (since they're tested in batches, not individually), getting results into a computer, and finally communicating results to the doc's office. The latest lab test slip had written chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich and had urine culture checked off. I just learned today when speaking with a lab representative that all chlamydia/gonorrhea tests done at this hospital are culture tests. I read that the culture tests are not as sensitive as the non-culture NAAT tests and that most places have switched to NAAT test. Moreover, culture tests are harder to conduct sometimes causing lots of false negatives in inexperienced hands.

My urine test wasn't specifically a Chlamydia test (I don't think...see lab results above). Does the urine test described reveal any info about possibly having Chlamydia?

Surprised I did some reading. This test is the ratio of blood creatitine to urine (24 hr) creatitine. Since my blood and urine were taken weeks apart I questioned the validity of the test. I ask for a my doctor to retest me and got and the second test, with blood drawn at the end of the urine collection period, showed a value of 108. I was not surprised there was a difference because the blood for the first test was drawn at time when I was poorly hydrated.
t something to be worried about, but if your urine is consistently foamy you should have a test to see if protein is in your urine called a urine albumin test. If you are worried why don't you consult your endocronologist and see if he/she thinks it is cause for concern and possibly the urine albumin test.
