Avatar m tn I'm 22 y.o. I've been urinating frequently in the past 2-3 years as far as I can remember (possibly longer than that). But I also noticed that I only tend do to that when I drink excessively compared to other people, so there are days where I urinate normally (which are usually the day where I drink less water).
129311 tn?1266346822 sorry to say, but yes, that is a rise that's cause for alert. Maybe it's benign, BPH, they call it, hummm, that fast of a rise I'm betting it is BPH....but I'm guessing here. They'll probably give him Cipro to see if that works, but Bactrim is better, if he has an older doctor they'll give him Bactrim, it's a sulfur drug and it's great, but it's been around forever, new docs think all the old stuff doesn't work ~ ya know what I mean?
Avatar m tn can PCA3 test results be false positive if the urine sample was not collected as dictated by the attentive 3 stroke procedure. With normal DRE, PSA under 4, moderate urinary difficulties, and the symptoms manageable with just one 5mg of Hytrin a day, do I really need to go for biopsy? Hstory: I am 65 years old with diabetes and mild BPH symptoms for the past 18 years.
Avatar m tn On having a PSA test done he had a reading of 58. Is his chances of having Prostate Cancer greater with a reading as high as this or will the prostate shrink?.
Avatar n tn - Prostate cancer. Prostate cancer cells in remaining prostate tissue or in other parts of your body can release PSA. Checking for signs of prostate cancer is the main reason men have PSA tests. - Recurrent benign prostate growth. Some prostate tissue remains even if your entire prostate is removed. This tissue may continue to grow, leading to increased PSA levels. - Inflammation of prostate tissue (prostatitis).
Avatar m tn without explaining to me, my urologist took a urine sample and sent it for PCA3 test which came out positive, and now my urologist recommends that I go for biopsy, because, according to him I have one in 2 chances of presently having prostate cancer. How can that be? With stable PSa around 3.2 and no lumps or bumps, and no major problem, how can I be a candidate for biopsy. I stubbornly believe the test results are false positive.
Avatar m tn With a clear urine test, along with other symptoms, what are the chances of prostate cancer? PSA last fall was normal. Can prostate cancer cause all these other arm/ shoulder pain and muscle twitches, and other symptoms? Any other thoughts? Question: Can a nerve condition cause these urinary issues? Prostate Cancer - same question. thanks.
Avatar n tn Thanks Dr Rowena, I continued Microbid for another 10 days, had my PSA and urine test done on 14 August .Test reults for urine are OK and PSA level came down to 1.93 .As per my doctor's conclusion ,this is good and I do not have to worry any thing .He recommended to see him if any pain,UTI,blood in urine in future. Please advise if I should still go for rectal ultrasound.how much safe PSA recommended in my case.
Avatar m tn He then took a urine sample and told me that it was a special test to determine if I had a genetic predisposition to prostate cancer. Last month he told me that the result of the genetic test came back negative and the PSA was a 4.1. He also measured the volume of urine output and that seemed much better. He told me that it was his opinion that I have him perform a biopsy on my prostate (through the rectum with the sonogram unit for the samples) at the end of this month.
3149845 tn?1506627771 Hi, i had prostate cancer and radiation about 3 years back. doing good and my psa is.05 steady, i had a blood test last week to check the psa. Avatar m tn Please visit a doctor, remark on the earlier too much albumin test result and get yourself tested for diabetes (a fasting urine test is the custom, eg. a mid-stream sample taken before you have any nutrition first thing in the morning). Untreated diabetes can lead to assorted organ damage including kidneys. Treatment might be as simple as improved diet along with more activity, but sometimes meds are needed to help bring it under control.
Avatar m tn My father had prostate cancer at 62. He is ok now, but that scares me a little. He was taking Androgel for 6 to 7 years before they found it. Questions: 1: When I started having the problem again was after masturbation. I drank a little too much on Saturday and Sunday morning I felt dehydrated. I ejaculated that morning and about 20 minutes later the discomfort set in. It lasted all Sunday. Monday night it was bugging me so I ejaculated and the pain immediately stopped.
Avatar m tn m waiting for test results taken today (urine sample) but for the last 3 days I have had blood in my urine. No pain when passing urine apart from a little discomfort in my lower abdomen. But each time I go there's a lot of white filament/floaters (some red (blood clots?)) in it. These floaters I have noticed in my urine as dull white/grey for several months & there would only be a small amount during those months at each time.
Avatar m tn Do you know if Lupron injection for prostate cancer can cause a false negative on a urine drug test my doctor gave me to make sure I am taking my Percocet. I am a 85 year old man who does take his medicine like I should and now I am having to defend myself because their test came out wrong. Can anyone help?

Avatar n tn I met guys whose psa had increased form the 1 area to 2 and they had prostate cancer... the increase is the key. Also if you ever have prostate cancer and I sure hope you don't, I would really recommend Proton Radiation if it is available to you./... It has a 90% cure rate and little to no side effects from the treatments... Its like I am cured and was never sick... I hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn Difficulty in initiating urination and intermittent urine stream may suggest a prostate problem. The prostate may be enlarged due to an inflammation or swelling.A prostate infection may be a primary differential. Did this happen abruptly? Are there other associated symptoms like pain in urination and straining in urination? A complete physical examination by a urologist will be able to assess the underlying cause.
Avatar m tn no infection but some crystalization -did an ultrasound of prostate. urologist saw white spots on screen and said this is infection. i am not sure if this diagnosis is correct because he prescribed doxycyline, i used for 3 weeks but it did not work. -from my blood test, psa was 1.7 (normal lab value was to be less than 1.4). my psa 3 years ago was 1.3 at a different lab and the normal range for that lab was 0-4.
Avatar m tn I had prostatitis about 4 years ago. After taking Cipro and Levaquin for about two months, it finally went away. I was fine until just recently when similar symptoms came back. They are much more milder than before, but still bothersome. Primary physician did urinalysis and DRE, and said everything seemed OK, but I could see a urologist if it was still bothering me. Went to urologist, and he said stream good, but trace blood in urine.
Avatar m tn Hence you just need to get your PSA levels checked every year or two years and if you show any symptoms of prostate cancer like nocturia ( increased frequency of passing urine at night), difficulty passing urine, including straining to pass it or stopping and starting, sense of incomplete bladder emptying and pain when passing urine or at tip of penis or blood in urine or semen then get it evaluated from a urologist.
Avatar n tn Blood in semen or hematospermia can be due to several causes like benign or malignant tumors of the prostate, bladder, testes, or seminal vesicles, infections like chlamydia, herpes, cytomegalovirus, and trichomoniasis, prostatitis, epididymitis, or urethritis, stone in the seminal vesicles or prostate, polyps in the urethra, obstructions in ejaculation-duct, and cancers of genitourinary system. Get a culture sensitivity test for both semen and urine done.
Avatar n tn I take comfort in the fact that is lower then my previous test and would think that if prostate cancer was involved then my psa would be increasing and not decreasing. As for the muscle relaxants go, i have taken up my gps offer on these. Since taking them, i feel great. I am in no pain whatsoever and i have only taken them twice thus far. I would think that if there was a prostate problem, then i would still be in some form of discomfort regardless of the muscle relaxants.
