Avatar m tn Hi Cheryl, I agree with CML's suggestions. Our cat, Sammy, was diagnosed with diabetes more than 2 years ago through a blood test. When he was diagnosed, he had lost quite a lot of weight and the vet couldn't understand why Sammy was losing so much weight. I would definitely bring your cat back to your vet and ask for a blood test. You could also ask for a fructosamine test to see how much sugar is in your cat's blood. I wish you and you cat well.
Avatar n tn Usually, you should be fine if August 7 test said all negative. Have a doctor follow you. Best.
Avatar f tn BUN was about 40 at the time of the kidney disease diagnosis (though I’ll need to check this value). Urine was tested only for infection (no protein other analyses done), and additional blood work has not been conducted yet to test for potassium, sodium, phosphorus, etc. Prior to the pancreatitis, he sporadically leaked urine at night, but about a week before his pancreatitis emerged, it progressed significantly to every night, and during the day during long periods of sleep.
1079218 tn?1297028844 Okay, I'm beginning to get really upset with my urologist as she doesn't seem to think I should be as fearful as I am or as worried as I am about still having blood in my urine without a UTI or Kidney Infection. This has been going on for years now & she has performed many tests but apparently she doesn't keep very good notes in my file as I'm a US Vet & she's only on staff once a month for a tax write off I think.
658828 tn?1225046595 To tell you a little about my medical history I was diagnosed with a chronic bladder condition called Interstitial Cystitis and my doctor thinks I most likely have IBS as well b/c of the bloating, problems with bowel movements being different etc. She tested my urine for a kidney infection b/c of the back pain but there was nothing indicative of an infection. I do not have any symptoms of kidney or liver problems (believe I have read about them!) No jaundice, edema, loss of appetite.
Avatar f tn I received a call from my primary physicians nurse stating I had some blood in my urine and will set up an ultrasound . While still waiting for the appointment for the ultrasound my symptoms are still the same and the itching is getting ridiculous !!
Avatar f tn Have read about the connection with glomerular disease and inflammatory condtions like pancreatitis. Now I just heard the cat has tested postitive for it with an fPLI of 15. Have read low albumin was common with pancreatitis but not heard about the connnection with EPI though understandable with lack of enzymes. Do you think this is a possiblity given the increased appetite? Stools were traditionally larger and more tan coloured than other cats, though no diarrhea, ever.
Avatar f tn U are having another stomuch infection like gastritis. Stomuch sounds are present in every human, they are normal thing. If no sound then it is not normal and serious disease. Hbv not cause xiphoid pain. Do an ultrasound u might be having gall bladder stone or some local infection that will subside in a few days. Dark urine will go away if u change ur diet and drink more water.
Avatar m tn I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. It's unlikely that pancreatitis results in acute liver failure/necrosis (ALN)- while pancreatitis can result in ELEVATED liver function tests (LFTs), it shouldn't cause failure. Cause for ALN include blue-green algae exposure (in stagnant ponds), sago palm ingestion, xylitol sugar-free gum, a few medications, etc. Sometimes end-stage liver disease (cirrhosis) can also cause acute liver failure also.
Avatar f tn what else can I give her to eat some protein. I just had the lab test drawn today for Pancreatic functions....Forget the name, but they have to send it to Texas...Suppose to tell me if she has pancreatic insufficency. I really would appreciate any other ideas of how to get her to eat. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time. The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal.
Avatar m tn Diabetes control varies with age and pancreatitis recurs. Get to the vet for a physical assessment. Good luck, caring for a senior is hard - but special.
Avatar n tn It could indicate whether you have pancreatitis. Parathyroid patients may have pancreatitis but it is possible that you have only gastroesophageal reflux.
Avatar n tn I am assuming that yur liver function tests were elevated to justify the ERCP as this would not typically be the first test because of the potential for complications. Usually, a specialized version of an MRI scan (MRCP) is done to rule out stones in the common bile duct. This is noninvasive, doesn't radiate the patient, and has no chance of causing pancreatitis like ERCP does.
Avatar m tn Blood work, urine test, stool sample and abdominal ultrasound...all clear. Are these signs of pancreatic problems?
Avatar n tn You did absolutely the right thing for your dog. I had to do the same thing for mine years ago. Pancreatitis is one horrific illness to deal with whether in humans or dogs. It is extremely painful, and there is no way of knowing if expensive supportive treatment and abdominal rest will result in recovery. Most of the time, euthanasia is the best and only option.
Avatar f tn Yes get these checked at the emergency. Pancreatitis is dangerous if it is the acute kind. If your levels are not raised you could have chronic pancreatitis so you could get tested for that.
Avatar n tn The same thing a kidney stone is made out of and also if you have pain there as well it could be kidney related due to refer pain. So you should get blood and urine test asap. the other problem that could arise after surgery is scar tissue building up causing adhesions..that is why it causes the pain..so the Doctor should send you for a ct scan..
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me the "gold standard" test for diagnosis. My mother has been through a battery of tests and although she was diagnosed she is still in limbo.
Avatar f tn As discussed last month, digestive enzymes and probiotics may help to control the effects of chronic pancreatitis, and sometimes are helpful for other digestive problems. Fish body oil, such as salmon oil (not cod liver oil), and antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, beta carotene, and selenium, may help reduce the risk of acute pancreatitis. Dogs with chronic pancreatitis can be deficient in B vitamins, so a B-complex supplement is also recommended. -------- Hoping that helps a little.
Avatar f tn I am on my 4th gastroenterologist and all of them agree that i do not have chronic pancreatitis. I have been tested for automimmune pancreatitis and I do not have it....
Avatar f tn I have seen countless drs and finally I saw one of the best pancreas drs nationwide, and he suggested it could be minimal change recurrent mild attacks. The only other test Ive had is a hida scan for the gb and it was abnormal, but not the cause of the pain. Anyone out there with insight?
