Avatar n tn What is/are the urine test(s) definitive for the diagnosis of untreated Lyme Disease?
Avatar f tn I have heard that a urine test for Lyme Disease is more accurate than a blood test. If this is this correct, does Igenix perform the urine test??
Avatar f tn Has anyone experience this with antibiotics? Do you think it is related to the abx or the Lyme or something else? My last urine test was normal, but with slightly raised sodium. Please could someone advise me on how to proceed?
Avatar f tn I actually went through this with my own dog and being int he field I did my own bloodwork on her. What test did they do for lyme? The accurate test to get is a lyme quantitative C6 Ab test. This will give you a level of antibodies.
1297538 tn?1278546102 I just mailed in my LUAT Lyme Urine Antigen Test to IgeneX today. I have to say that the three antibiotics I was on (Doxcy, Flagyl and Zithromax) were pretty rough! I'm wondering if anyone has heard and or done this test and knows what results can be expected. I did have a suspiciously negative Wester blot IgG and IgC test come back which prompted my LLMD to do this LUAT test. Anyone have any experience with this? How accurate is it?? Any help is appreciate! Thanks!!
1029507 tn?1287714315 when this all started with me 3 years ago i had every test they could do down their and could not find out what was wrong. lyme doc says it is the little lyme bugs but nothing has ever been found in my urine. had a nurse tell me its from drinking dark soda she said the lyme bugs like that i even drink diet coke caf free. i guess i need to stick with water and see what happens. this is why i think it can be passed with sex. it burns when i ejaculate dont know what other test to do?
Avatar f tn You can ask your doctor if he/she knows of them, but they are one of the best labs in the world for Lyme testing. I had a second test done called the Lyme Urine Antigen Test (LUAT) also through IgeneX and that one just came back positive. It might be worth your while to ask you doctor about it. If he/she doesn't know about it I believe you can order the kit from IgeneX yourself but your doctor still has to prescribe the weeks worth of antibiotics to do the test.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Wow, thanks for all of the excellent responses! I sort of suspected that I may have a UTI, but I wasn't really sure if maybe antibiotics could possibly take a toll on the kidneys overtime. I know occasionally the liver can be effected and the GI tract, but I wasn't sure about the kidneys. This new issue is just odd for me. I didn't realize that Lyme could cause that as well, so thanks for the heads up on that.
Avatar f tn took blood yesterday 4 lyme also doing a 24 hour urine test 4 toxins heavymetals since i work with auto paint hope something comes up tired of docs that dont dig deep insted throw you anxiety and depression meds if your car starts running like **** you dont just put fuel treatment in and call it good eventually somethings guna blow also it doesnt help that im heavily tattooed we are definetly judged by looks so that makes it a challenge to get a real doc that cares not a bunch of assholes that j
Avatar f tn The doc should know what to order, and if they don't, then they may not understand the results either. :( There is much misunderstanding among docs about which tests to use and which ones to believe. here is some of the explanation from California Lyme Disease Assn (aka CALDA) on this point: ---------------------------------------------------- Antibody tests The most common tests measure the patient’s antibody response to infection.
535822 tn?1443976780 Well I saw this new Doctor yesterday the usual know it all kind , he said he doesnt think I have a hypothyroid or Lyme ....he said they woudl still do the test for Lyme and Thyroid, he gave me a big health speel, mostly about blood pressure, mine is always low but as usual it shot up when I went in there ,,anyway I didnt get to tell him all my symptoms iddnt seem interested so whats new...he said he thought it could be Epstein Bar or MonoI said to him but would a virus go on this long ...
Avatar f tn My neurologist ran the serum copper test looking for a copper deficiency (this was before the Lyme diagnosis.) My neurological exam is highly suggestive of myelopathy. (Hyper reflexes, Babinski sign is present, positive Rhomberg, and clonus at the ankles.) So the the copper being high was an unexpected finding. I really appreciate all your responses!
Avatar f tn I am guessing it is to do with the fact that my urine is staying in my bladder for longer and more concentrated. During the day, I urinate frequently (due to my symptoms). Thank you so much for your assistance.
Avatar f tn t read much about it, but I would also want the Urine PCR test to look for Borrellia (Lyme) DNA in the urine. Man, this is proof positive of the organism in the body. The Igenex kit now apparently comes with the supplies to run this test, but I don't know the cost or if insurance would cover. For those without a molecular biology background. If the organism is in the body replicating and dying there will be a release of it's DNA into the blood.
Avatar n tn they did test me for lyme disease negative, all my blood test are coming back normal no rh factor, thyroid fine, cbc ok, blood is not showing anything.
Avatar f tn Testing for Lyme Disease is also extremely inaccurate. The tests only pick up on 50% of cases of Lyme Disease. If they have already tested you for it, have them test you again. I know from personal experience, because I was sick with many symptoms for months and doctors had no idea what was wrong with me. It turned out it was Lyme Disease, even though all the doctors said my tests were negative for it. There is a really good Lyme Disease section right here on MedHelp.
Avatar f tn Sounds like Lyme Disease or Q Fever. Many people with Lyme Disease test negative. Unfortunately most doctors think that a negative blood test excludes Lyme, which it doesn't. People test negative for a variety of reasons, like what strain of the bacteria they have, whether they've been sick more than a few months, and whether you've had any immune suppressing drugs or a coinfection along with Lyme that also suppresses the immune system.
Avatar f tn I am very interested now to see what my urine test to Igenex produces but probably will not know for another month or so. Does anyone know if they send the results to me as well?
1094370 tn?1317134825 Those diseases have to be tested for separately and often treated with different meds than Lyme. An experienced Lyme doc knows this, and looks at the tests AND your symptoms to figure out what you might have. The tick you saw was maybe the tick that Lyme'd you, or not. I never saw the first tick that got me, never had a rash. Everybody's different that way, so I wouldn't worry about trying to prove the tick existed.
Avatar f tn m a chronic pain patient that was diagnosed with FMS, MPS, and DDD (nech and back). Recently, I tested at a 4.89 on the ELIAS screening test for LYME. Due to my medical history, my PM doctor referred me to an ID doctor who wants to run a lumbar puncture to assess the central nervous system. I read that this is an uncommon procedure for LYME testing. So my questions are -- 1) why are the conducting this test? 2) what else could be wrong (i.e., what causes a "false positive"?
Avatar n tn I was told by some doctor that since she had tick bite last year and developed symptom that time, she probably had lyme that time and then her lyme test will remain positive for maybe years. So that doctor said we should see if she has any symptom, otherwise don't even do the lyme test. So far we don't see any obvious symptom.
