I'm not sure since they usually have an IV going at the same time. That provides fluids as well as a port for medications they may use. Maybe it's to make sure you can swallow well. I'm curious - why does it bother you so much?

I was not surprised there was a difference because the blood for the first test was drawn at time when I was poorly hydrated. (For the first urine test and the second blood and urine I had normal hydration.) For me this indicates not just a problem with the kidney donor group (they should have requested matched blood and urine), but with the lab (they should not have reported results based on unmatched blood and urine samples).

Well, yes, it is normal not to hold water after you drink it, but, usually it takes about an hour or so for it to be excreted. Sometimes, if a person's body is not used to having a lot of water in it, it will actually hold on to it until it realizes it will not be deprived of it anymore, after that however, it will release it fairly fast. I would not worry too much, but, just drink 8 ounces about every hour, this way, it distributes it evenly and you never have too much or too little.

I have severe chronic fluid retention, can this severe retention give a false hydration result on blood test as it’s counted as fluid?

I was then told that my urine specific gravity was high (above what they could test for) and I had elevated bilirubin in my urine and when I asked about the bilirubin was told that my liver was probably stressed by my dehydration (as indicated by the specific gravity and urine color).

The urine test is checking sugars in the urine, protein in the urine, and hydration levels. But a blood test is far more accurate. You can choose to opt out, but there are risks with untreated GD. Do some research and figure out what you want.

You should go in for iv hydration than. Call your ob or go to the er.

With the note on hydration and different coloured urine during pregnancy, you require more water to stay hydrated during pregnancy so its easy to become dehydration and end up with darker urine at that point. I had a similar issue a couple weeks ago so I did a test where I drank 2-3 glasses of water.. Next time I went, it was no longer dark..

How is your hydration? My understanding is being dehydrated will cause there to be excess waste in your urine which creates the ammonia smell and that can happen when we are dehydrated. Bladder stones and UTI's are other reasons. No other symptoms leads me to believe it is likely an issue with proper hydration and I'd try to increase it even if you feel you are currently drinking enough. Is the color clear?

I have not noticed any change in urine color since being pregnant aside from the prenatal vitamins I take ... after I take them my urine is really bright yellow for a couple of times after then it goes back to normal. But, I took the vitamins for months before I got pregnant and it had the same color. I do not think this is a sign of pregnancy.

Clear urine means you are hydrated, the more yellow it is the more dehydrated you are. You want to have clear urine. Also if there's a strong smell to the urine that indicates poor health and dehydration.

Hi Super Sally. I got my results yesterday & everything was fine! I must have had a spike in glucose when I did the urine test & the urine test cannot be that accurate.

This is not bad. If you are very sick during your pregnancy its quite common to need IV hydration. Once your nausea meds kick in it'll be easier for you to maintain adequate hydration on your own.

Usually my urine isn't cloudy, but today when I used the restroom it was very cloudy. Is it just due to decreased hydration. .? I'm a Lil worried..

Well ive been drinking a lot of water but is there anything else that is a substitute for hydration that i can drink while pregnant? Someome told me coconut water. But isnt that going to dehydrate me?

I already have my beta sset up for 6/20 but has anyone got a urine + before that? if i do do a urine test how will i know if my body has secreted the HCG im going to inject on wed? thanks for the advice!

One reson this happens is that some elements of muscle accumulate in the blood stream during exercise and these produce stress on the filters of the kidneys. For as long as there is adequate hydration the kidneys are generally fine. In the event it happens again, you could consider having a morphology test done - this makes a microscopic description of the blood - this would be helpful to detect which area of the urinary system is producing the blood.

I also have foamy urine, frequent urination, dribbling, split stream and had cloudy urine for a few days but that has cleared up. I bought a UTI test strip and it came back negative but decided to see a doctor who also said there is no UTI. I am awaiting results of my blood test and culture but freaked out by my foamy urine. I have had prostititis in the past which resulted in erection problems.

I'm going to look for some Hydration Factor, I live in the UK so it might not be called that over here, I'm sure there will be an alternative if its not the same. My energy levels are low so I hope this helps, thank you for sharing.

As long as the head of your penis was covered throughout the sexual exposures, and the condom didn't break (which would have been obvious), then no STD from these events can explain your symptoms. And stinging pain at the tip of the urethra is usually not an STD symptom, unless there is also abnormal discharge of pus or mucus.

Sometimes we need to trick our brains to make ourselves "go in public"; for example sometimes visualizing a waterfall or other running water may help you relax enough to be able to get the urine to come out.

You're not drinking anywhere near enough water. The more water you drink the lighter your urine will be and the healthier it is for you. You've got toxins that build up in your system and usually our periods help relieve that. Being pregnant ends up keeping more in your body though so you need to constantly be drinking water to keep your body flushed.
