Avatar m tn Testing for chlamydia/gonorrhea by blood does not mean you have a current infection. It only tells you if you had at one point in time developed antibodies for it. For accurate testing you need to be tested by swab or urine.
Avatar n tn I understand that swab tests for gonorrhea are site-specific. What about a urine test: will it be able to detect oral gonorrhea?
Avatar f tn About 1 1/2 years ago started having pains in my wrists so I Had a swab test - clean, urine test a couple months after that - clean, and a blood test a couple after that - clean. Is it possible for an infection to not test positive on these tests because it has been present for a long time? Doctors say its not but is there a test thats best if its been present for a long time, and what test would not show if its been present for a long time...
Avatar f tn If you performed oral on someone, you'd ask for an oral swab, not urine. Your infection is limited to the site of exposure, which is oral in this case. I agree that this is little to no risk. Oral sex on a vagina is lower risk than oral sex on a penis, as the penis enters the mouth and throat. Gonorrhea also isn't nearly as common, so the chances of you getting anything from this is very low. The only other thing you may be at risk for is syphilis, if she had any sores.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately the medical center that I go to offers the urine test (PCR NAAT) only for Chlamydia. They test for gonorrhea only with the swab test. It was painful/irritating the last time that I did the test. That said, the previous medical center in the city that I went to did urine test for both gonorrhea and chlamydia, but I then found out that they were doing cultures on the urine to test for the gonorrhea and chlamydia (not the PCR NAAT test).
Avatar m tn I got an gnorheea test and chlymedia test done for 52 dollars. Just a simple urine test at planned parenthood. You call for the results they give you an ID card. No worries about coming in for the results. Stress free.
Avatar m tn Hi Dr HHH, I am from Singapore. I recently took a PCR Urine test for Chlamydia & Gonorrhea. The result came back negative for both. i had hold my urine for 4 hours before the test. However, during the time when i was collecting my urine, i did not collect the first catch / the first part of my urine. I actually collected the "mid stream" of my urine instead. Is this gonna affect my test result since its was a "Mid Stream" urine sample?
Avatar m tn Are there urine tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia? Or what are the options?
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor and was tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Both came back negative so she put me on an antibiotic thinking it must have been a UTI. This seemed to help for a bit, but then it started to hurt just as severly in the mornings again and sometimes at night. Now it doesn't hurt as much as it did at first, and only in the mornings when I first get up. What has startled me is that in the morning if I squeeze my penis milky urine comes out.
Avatar f tn A few months later I went back to test to make sure everything was clear but this time I received a urine STD test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Are urine STD tests reliable for women? Can I be confident with my negative results?
Avatar m tn For guys, I have tried both receptive and insertive (condom) anal and (unprotected) oral sex. I was tested for both Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and they were negative for the URINE TEST. I’m now waiting results for oral and anal swab tests. Just wondering.. assuming I got Oral Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and I had given oral sex to my partner; she has a risk and *might be infected*.
Avatar m tn my doc does not know about urine tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia. plz tell me the names of the tests so that I can get them done at a test centre.
Avatar m tn Good Day Doc, I had a protected sex encounter with a sex worker about 3 weeks ago. At the third day of my exposure, i did an Urine Culture Test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Test result is negative. However, these few days i am having some weird tickling feeling on my penis. Sometimes, i can feel some sharp tickling at the tip of my penis, especially when i am walking. But, I do not feel any pain during my urination. My questions are: - Is the urine test on the 3rd day conclusive?
Avatar m tn Thanks, Today im at day 5 exactly, so ill test for both gonorrhea and chlamidya, no syntomps so far. , although every clinic I consult they say that accurate results will be after 7-10 days, but I will take it today trusting medhelp. Do you know anything about false positives or they are not common for gonorrhea and chlamidya?
Avatar f tn Actually, it depends on the swab test used. The urine test is a NAAT type test and is very accurate with a very low false positive rate. But, if the urine collected is too dilute and not the first void of the day, the urine test has a high false negative rate. Based on this, the swab test ,specifically the Gen probe or a culture give the most dependable result (specificity and sensitivity). Take care.
1211949 tn?1271716170 Hi guys, I am just wondering what STDs you can test for with a urine test. I know it is Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, but I was wondering if they can test for any others as well. I know there are other things like trich infections etc. Back in December I got chlamydia. Ive been on azythromycin twice and levaquin as well as suprax for gonorrhea even though I tested negative for it. I have taken two tests since and both have come back negative from gonorrhea and chlamydia.
Avatar f tn Are chylamedia and gonorrea urine test accurate for women? I had 2 urine test 1)after 4 weeks 2)at 7 weeks both negative Are they conclusive or do I need a swab test?
Avatar n tn I presume your urine or a swab from your penis was the specimen tested for chlamydia. If your urine or swab test was positive for chlamydia it would be quite unusual for the same specimen to have not been tested for gonorrhea at the same time. Thus one of the first things I would suggest is for you to call your doctor’s office and see if perhaps you were tested for gonorrhea. If so and the test was negative, you have nothing further to worry about.
