Common Questions and Answers about Urine test for ethanol

The unit of measurement cited refers to the concentration of ethanol (alcohol) by molecular count. If an ethanol level of 0.10% is equal to 22 mmol/l or 100 mg/dl, then 1 mmol/l would equal an ethanol level of .021%. This is a very low blood alcohol level where the average individual appears normal.
My question is this, I work in a law office and a client, who has informed us and the court that she is a diabetic, has tested positive for ethanol twice by taking a urine test. The client denies alcohol use. I was told my another attorney that ketones can cause a positive result for ethanol. Can this be true? I have tried researching the answer and am not making any headway. Please help if you can. Thank you.
If you were my patient, I would advise you that urine drug screens are quite specific for the medications they test for--they can usually distinguish between different types of narcotics, for example. There can be overlaps and false positives--such as the alcohol content in Nyquil could cause a positive screen for ethanol. Without knowing the category of drug though, its not possible to give a specific answer to your question.
Ethanol (yes, that’s alcohol) LSD Hallucinogens (Psilocybin, Mescaline, MDMA, MDA, MDE) Inhalents (Toluene, Xylene, Benzene) If there is a drug out there, there is a drug test for it. How about one more thing to worry about? Second-hand smoke from marijuana and crack cocaine can be absorbed into your hair. Problem? Some companies are now using hair testing to determine drug usage. Answer? Don’t even hang around others who are doing drugs.
Drugs the patient is taking, normally filtered out and disposed of in urine, may remain in the bloodstream for a much longer period and act longer than expected or even build up in body tissue. A liver with cirrhosis is usually much larger than a healthy liver Precautions and Prevention Once cirrhosis has been diagnosed, sodium and fluids should be restricted, and all alcohol consumption must cease. Antiemetics, diuretics, and supplemental vitamins are prescribed.
Kind of fun to think that every time you have a drink you're gulping down a whole slew of yeast droppings.) In any case, this yeast-biproduct, ethanol, is what is tested for in the alcohol urine test. So yes, if a diabetic has the right sort of bacterial or yeast infection, they can test positive for alcohol even if they have never had a drop of alcohol in their life.
I am having a full body scan and PET scan for reoccurring Thyroid Cancer, and I was wondering if a lid diet is necessary? Also, do you normally recommend a 24 hour urine test to determine iodine levels if a CAT scan with dye was done 7 months earlier? Lastly, are you familiar with PEI (percutaneous ethanol injection) and do you recommend this for reoccuring Pap cancer? Thanks!

I am hoping you will read this and respond. I was given a carbohydrate test that came back 12.8 (range for test was 0.0-5.9), I had a talk with my Neuro who asked pointedly if I drank alcohol I said no. So he then ran a carbohydrate deficient glycoprotein test (ultra Q) and it cam back 5.4%. I was told I have no tolerance for alcohol or organic solvents. Its a metabolic disorder, my body can't break down any form of alcohol. I can't find any information on this ?
I think the primary reason for fasting is the blood glucose test. I doubt that eating would affect LFTs. "...For example, males have higher transaminase levels than females. And, African-American men have higher AST levels compared with Caucasian men. Even the time of day that a blood sample is drawn may influence the level of transaminase elevation. People appear to have higher transaminase levels in the morning and afternoon than in the evening.
he didn't have any bladder issues, we are calling the vet's office on monday when they open again and hopefully they will test for UTI's. Another thing that we noticed today is that his eyes are leaky and infected looking so hopefully the vet can do something about that as well. Thank you so much for taking the time to try to help me find out whats wrong. I just don't think all these things going on with Gromit are unrelated and I really want to get to the bottom of it all.
Today, I spoke to the office manager who stated that she talked to the doctor about the way I was treated and she stated they are going to change the way they do things in the office. For example, the drug test he gave me was a 5 panel drug test that did not pick up on the medication that was in my system, so they are switching to 10 panel.
I have been treated for slight hyperthyroidism for about a year now (PTU drug). When I stopped the medication my levels went up. I have one larger nodule, but has remained the same size. My symptoms are minimal most of the times, but when I get stressed/upset or nervous I get a lump in my throat where I have trouble swallowing. When I get real nervous my heart pounds hard and fast and most common symptom is the slight tremor sometimes with my hands. My Dr.
I drink on average 12 beers a day, which i know is not good for me, and on the weekends or get togethers more than that. For the past 4 years I've been having heart palpitations, and a 26 beat run of ventricular tachycardia. EP dr thought it to be benign, 1 out of 4 EP's I seen wanted me to do the EP study and "possible" ablation.
Hi Tom. I have never seen any data that Incivek causes elevated "Uric Acid " ,however there are numerous articles and studies done that the other two medications (Peg/Riba) can cause these levels to rise.(see link below) The normal reference range for serum UA is 3.5 -7.2 mg/dl so at 12 yours is quite elevated. I know there are medications to control this so possibly a discussion with your doctor about it. Best to you..
I have been on the meth program at ARF, Toronto, although more than 25 yrs ago, at that time you had to produce clean urine samples for a period of time, to get "carries" to take home. So one could A$$UME that that type of procedure would still be in place. Making it highly likely that "dad" is shooting up meth. As well OP sees father meeting with questionable people. . . My addict gut says he's using. If so, he will get caught and cut off of his supply of meth.
I am not charging you for this, you are not paying me for it, so don’t sue me. It’s a responsibility that you have to assume. If you expect a risk-free life, with massive compensation should things don’t work out, then don't try this. So, why is this book manuscript free? The physician who reviewed it said, “The materials cost less than $5.00, so there’s no income, and if, on the outside chance, a patient falls in the shower, they can sue me. What doctor’s gonna recommend this?
How serious are my enzyme levels? And if I’m dry and sober for 3 days prior to my next liver function test, will those numbers go down? I’m having trouble finding quality information online, and it’s near impossible to book enough time with the doctor to discuss a topic at length. Any insight and/or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.
However, just like rumpled, I have my concerns that you are getting the very best information to make your decision, or maybe they've already made it for you?. The 24 hr urine test for cortisol is a good test if interpreted in the right context. A serum cortisol test is just a point in time test, so it has to be taken at certain times of the day to provide the information you desire, because cortisol goes up and down.
I've been trying to reducing my uric acid levels for years now. I have been changing my diet and get a 24 hour urine test a couple of times of year to make sure it is under control. My cirrhosis is the biggest factor cutting my odds of therapy working plus as of now I don't have enough platelets to due therapy. I go down into the teens at about 12 weeks. So I'm stuck for now. Appreciate the info and will read up on uric acid and HCV.
oh, there is a urine test for a histamine metabolite (methyhistamine), but I don't think that is necessary at this point - and IIRC that's for people who have periodic flushing, in that you take a baseline then test right during/after a flush also there is biopsy for suspected mastocytosis, IIRC
Holy, I think you should take another blood test for H. Pylori. I just got a positive blood test three days ago, after being negative 6 months ago. Tests are not always accurate, and there are false positives and false negatives. So it's best to do it again, just to make sure. Fecalbodyodor, it is interesting that those people associate their PATM with the treatment of H. pylori. In my case my PATM condition is certainly not caused by treating GERD because I just got a positive test.
I would rather take the bus down to see my PO everyday for a spit or P test than have this on. I would buy a case of either at my expense it would probrably be cheaper. Going to church tomorrow, that always helps me to feel better about things. I go to a grat christian church with a great pastor lots of uplifting music and just great people, I always get something out of the service that applies to my and Toms life.
Its been like this for a little more than a month. A few years back, it was like this for nearly 2 years but went away for about 5 months the later part of 2007. Both reactions were right after I had sexual relations with a partner. The coincidence led me to believe std related but negative tests say otherwise. I myself feel lost and not sure what to do because from what ive been reading, it seems like the creams/moisturizers and medications do not really help so much.
It used to be the headache would show up after a couple or three beers or two bourbon and water drinks, but now if I have one sip of wine or one sip of bourbon it will trigger the migrane. I wonder if there is some test for yeast in your system? I just don't drink any kind of alcohol any more. I have just resigned to being the designated driver.
Just wondering if anyone has a 'miracle cure'!! For a few years now, I've been getting a red blotchy chest/neck rash in circumstances where I - am drinking alcohol, anxious, nervous, excited, upset - really feeling just about any emotion. It's gotten to the point where I do not expose my chest/neck ever - and cover up whenever I can. I had read once that taking Niacinimide could help - and I've been taking about 1000mg of it for a few months, but am not seeing much improvement.
