Avatar m tn It was the test for the 24 hour pee thing. I got my test results back; everything was fine except I seem to be low on Vitamin D. There is something else that I would like to add... For the past 2 years of my life I have been suffering from anhendonia... I am just wondering if Vitamin D deficiency can cause that. 770296 tn?1244385841 Catecholamine testing measures the amounts of epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the plasma or urine. The plasma test measures the amount of hormone present in the blood at the moment of collection, while the urine test measures the amount excreted over a 24-hour period.

Avatar m tn There are already tests available to test your monoamines (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine). Those are usually urine tests and they are pretty expansive (about 400-600$ but genetics is an information technology which means it is evolving exponentially which means you will see the price lowered in the years to come) . Depression can be more complicated than modifications in your monoamines. Some have the biological depression and some don't.
Avatar n tn I emailed the doc who said the elevated dopamine is normal and it could be much higher and still be normal.
Avatar m tn Something interesting happened recently that both illustrates this and makes me think dopamine may have something to do with it. First, let me make it clear that I am not a druggie. I've never taken an illegal, recreational drug in my life, not even pot (and I was in high school in the 1980s!) On a couple of occasions, however, I have taken peyote with Native Americans. The reasons for that are another story. The peyote church I attended was in Arizona, several hundred miles from my home.
Avatar f tn I too have all the signs of hormone problems, but all my tests come back normal. (Except one) - Doc gave me a 24 hr. urine test- dopamine came back high. That is released by the hypothalamus. I hope this helps. Maybe we can help one another.
1139187 tn?1355706647 You can buy the saliva and urine test kits online. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully! They aren't cheap and some are better than others. Most doctors won't accept the results as they don't believe in them. This site has a list of the more reputable ones. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.

Avatar n tn Urine analysis: Epinephrine, Norepinephrine, Dopamine, Serotonin, GABA, PEA, Glutamate, Histamine, DOPAC, 5-HIAA, Glycine, Taurine. Indicated for: ADD / ADHD, Autism, mental focus, anxiety, depression, mood disorders. The green tea amino acid L Theanine is used as standard treatment in Japan for ADHD which is one way to boost dopamine without the side effects of chemicals. There are so many supplements on the market that boost neurotransmitters however.
Avatar n tn For cortisol, there is a 24 hour test for cortisol (ah, another jug!), 8am tests for cortisol and ACTH, and if the doc is good, they will test your adrenals for renin, aldosterone, dhea-s, and do more comprehensive testing of the entire endocrine system as cortisol pretty much can effect most hormones. Cortisol lowers testosterone - that is why I am thinking Cushing's. I don't know if a pheo does that. Or at least, I have not heard that. I hope your doc calls you soon.
Avatar m tn Malabsorbed food particles can trigger serious reactions that can cause kidney or other damage. She may do a simple urine test for this:The mannitol and lactulose test. 4. She needs to have a nutritional panel and a mineral tissue analysis to rule out deficiencies. Ferritin levels, Vitamin D3, B12, Magnesium, Selenium, Iodine, Zinc are all important for Thyroid function. Please do not go by serum hormone levels, as these do not represent cellular function.
Avatar f tn I am no doctor and do not suffer from adrenal insufficiency that I know of yet. I see and endo next week for testing, but I think the high dopamine levels may indicate more of a psychological aspect. Perhaps mood swings, aggression, anxiety or hyperactivity? Also, I think it might indicate trouble with the GI tract? They also see this in people who are schizophrenic- not saying that you are, but it's characteristic. The opposite is true for low dopamine levels.
Avatar f tn You can order you test on the internet and test various neurotransmitter levels. This is very likely to cost around 200-400$. Yes they can know quite accurately the neurotransmitter levels with a simple urine test. Think of it as a dope test, It's basically the same way of detecting substances and making ratio.
1015629 tn?1251146888 0, also waiting on blood results for epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine, cate. Does this appear to possibly be subclinical hyperthyroidism or possible Pheocromocytoma. You may need the epi, norepi, and dopamine to answer completely. I appreciate any information you can share with me.
Avatar m tn For the past 2-3 months I've been waking up really tired, unmotivated, everything from my view is seen as dull and I really can't take it anymore. I brought it up to my parents, we did a blood and urine test, everything is perfect and exactly where it should be. This state I'm in everyday used to come every here and there and would just let it pass. Right now it's too much and I have no idea what is happening.
Avatar f tn My doctor has an assistant, not a nurse, who assists her with checking patient vitals, etc. the assistant makes frequent demands for a urine test...4 in the last 8 months which seem excessive to me. She gets quite testy if I am unable to comply and has left an unpleasant message on my phone once. Today she brought me a full paper cup of water and insisted I drink it. Am I legally required to submit to these tests? Is there a certain number of urine tests required per year?
Avatar m tn Anyway please note that dopamine is triggered when you are having fun and vice versa (even eating trigger dopamine production) or by directly stimulating the receptors with drugs... You can't just not swallow a precursor to dopamine and hope to give you a high moral boost or high sex drive... Anyway.. Rhodiola rosea might give you a little boost.
Avatar m tn So,i read researches on this area that says the dopamine agonists have been working well for those young people that the treatment with PDE5 inhibitors and psychological therapy has not worked. So i decided by myself to take high dosage of pure vitamin B6 and my erection improved amazingly, but these high dosages can cause damage on the central nervous system after a time range.taking it into account i would like to do a doctor visit to ask to him a dopamine agonist, what do you think?
Avatar m tn I appreciate the info on this and know what I have to do if I give in again. When I feel like using I'll just ask my wife to smack me in the nose and break it so I can get a dopamine dump and if it goes away just break a few fingers here and there who needs em anyway I can type with a pen.
Avatar f tn L phenylalanine breaks down into tyrosine, precursor for dopamine. Dopamine is the energy neurotransmitter and involved in the reward system underlying addiction. Cocaine and amphetamine act like dopamine substitutes and become depleted during use of those stimulants. Glutamine is another recommended, associated with GABA (which can be taken on its own). These are related to stress reduction and relaxation. It is supposed to help with alcohol addiction.
Avatar f tn No problem. :) I've read the gold standard for neurotransmitter testing is cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). I believe this test is seldom used outside of research settings. How accurate other labs are i can't say. You could ask for a blood test. There is also companies that test urinary neurotransmitters such as NeuroScience (testing is performed by Pharmasan Labs), and Sanesco.
Avatar f tn Avinza is a long acting morphine compaound...Avanza is a brand name for remeron//used for depression and also for anxiety/sleep..it enhances dopamine availability and can help some who have a deficiency in that area..it is similar to trazodone in ways//anothe sleep dpression like drug/and yohimbee which is not a rx drug but is also a dopamine enhancer..after u r on it for a while, the sedative effect lessens...so ur dr is either rx-ing it to u for depression, anxiety/and or sleep....
Avatar m tn Good Day Doc, I had a protected sex encounter with a sex worker about 3 weeks ago. At the third day of my exposure, i did an Urine Culture Test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. Test result is negative. However, these few days i am having some weird tickling feeling on my penis. Sometimes, i can feel some sharp tickling at the tip of my penis, especially when i am walking. But, I do not feel any pain during my urination. My questions are: - Is the urine test on the 3rd day conclusive?
