Avatar n tn But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.
Avatar n tn Try to keep her fever under control with over the counter pain medications(advil or tylenol) to lower the fever. If there is not improvement in a weeks time, take her back to the doctors to be looked at again.
Avatar f tn Had a call from my midwife today to let me know the results of my urine test and they show I have a urinary tract infection (UTI). I've had no symptoms but she said I need some antibiotics. Has this happened to anyone else, should I be worried?
Avatar f tn I had sex for the first time 5 days ago (we used protection) and since then, at the end of every pee I have been burning, it’s just at the end and it’s not horrible, but it burns a little. I'm taking something soft for the urinary tract infection but it doesn't go away, then I thought it might be because I had my first time sex, so could be some pain after it? But it was 5 days ago, is it possible?
Avatar f tn I found that, while waiting for the meds to work, taking pyridium (an over-the-counter urinary tract numbing agent) works to get rid of the burning...Good luck..
Avatar n tn Peppers, alcohol, and other strong foods can irritate the prostate and the urinary tract, so try to avoid them if you think this is causing your problem. Another cause of irritation is constipation and hard stools, which press against the bladder and prostate. Take a stool softener and drink more water if you have hard stools. Take saw palmetto if told to do so by a doctor; this helps with minor prostate enlargement (BPH), but does not treat infections or anything else.
Avatar n tn Ive had a urinary tract infection for going on 6 weeks now. Ive been treated over and over and nothing seems to be getting rid of it. I dont have a regular dr so I am relying on trips to the er to help me. I am now so sick with the infection that I am throwing up and am in so much pain. I have a very serious history of kidney stones as well which doesnt help much either. I just had my last stone removed about 3 weeks ago.
Avatar f tn Yeah theres over the counter things for both yeast and urinary tract infections that you might want to try. But if it's something else then the medications probably won't do anything for you. I guess you could try the over the counter approach first and if it doesn't clear up check a doctor.
Avatar f tn There are over the counter remedies for yeast infections. Are you certain it's a yeast infection. I understand you covering up in front of the parents about your sexual activity. However people can get yeast infections & it doesn't have to mean anything sexual. Incorrectly wiping, called back to front is the main cause of yeast infections. Please ask your parents to take you to the doctor. Keep posting. Thank you.
Avatar n tn s...it sure sounds like one to me! To help with the pain, you can buy over the counter product called "Uricalm". May have other products avail too...it is a urinary analgesic...it will change the color of your urine to bright orange! This will ONLY MASK the symptoms, so PLEASE get the proper antibiotics to clear the infection!
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have a urinary tract infection. Did you buy some pills over the counter? If so, these will only take away the pain for a short time. See your Dr because if this is a UTI you may need antibiotics.
Avatar f tn t test for a urinary tract infection at first despite my complaints. So I believe I went weeks with a urinary tract infection that should have been diagnosed early in my treatment. So I would insist on having a urinalysis too if you are experiencing painful urination. Your doctor will probably request that test, but if not I would insist upon it. I wish I had. Good luck. Don't wait too much longer since a UTI could move up to the kidney and cause complications.
4251679 tn?1370305531 UTIs are exactly what their name describes. and infection in your urinary tract. its not in your vagina, however, ive always been told not to have sex while you have one because sex could be the cause of it. and its best to make sure its all better before introducing even more bacteria. Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.
Avatar f tn A pain-relieving medication can be obtained over the counter, but it only helps by numbing the urinary tract and does not treat the problem. Not treating the problem would lead to permanent problems affecting your kidneys. Brands here in the US are Azo Standard or pyridium. I do not mean a cranberry remedy, although cranberry pills can be helpful as well. they acidify the urine and cut down on bacteria counts, but don't cure a full-blown infection.
Avatar n tn There are different types of bacteria causing yeast infections therefore some can be cured over the counter, some you need a prescription for which can be cheaper than over the counter. I'm not sure what doxy is but I do know that many medicines and especially antibiotics can cause yeast infections. The biggest cause is changes in hormones which are caused by taking these. They are also caused by pregnancy.
Avatar n tn If it is a water infection they are easy to flush out without antibiotics... You just drink it out yourself. And dont go to the loo every 3 seconds like yo think you need to...try to go every hour and a half....
Avatar n tn It could be a UTI (as we call them in the U.S.) which is a Urinary Tract Infection. I would recommend seeing a doctor to confirm this but one thing that usually helps with a UTI is drinking lots of Cranberry Juice as well as lots of water. I think I had one before a long time ago and I just drank Cranberry Juice and I was fine but if it's bad enough or keeps hurting, please see a doctor so as not to jeopardize your fertility or your health in general. Take care!
Avatar n tn In what dose and for what duration might it be prescribed for if the infection was caught early and is considered mild and isolated in the lower urinary tract for the time being? Thank you so much in advance for your help.
Avatar m tn Sounds like kidney or urinary tract infection. Call doc, see if you bring in a urine sample. If it is an infection, only antibiotics will help, nothing over the counter unfortunately - but believe me I love my heating pad. I even bring it with in the car with a power converter. I've had several kidney issues, and now am recovering from surgery for nutcracker syndrome and pelvic congestion syndrome (found both in men and women). Good Luck.
Avatar n tn I've finished my bactrim for my urinary tract infection, so why do I still have the burning when I urinate?
Avatar f tn I believe I have one now, but is there any way I can treat it w something over the counter instead of going to my gyno? I been to my gyno 5 times this year already due to yeast/bacterial infections. Btwn school and work I have no time for a docs appt!! Do you think my dr would prescribe me diflucan over the phone w/o seeing? Also what r some over the counter medications that will clear it up if she won't prescribe me something w/o seeing me?
667829 tn?1297978123 immune system, plus with the physical changes that occur within the urinary tract system while pregnant (dilated urethra, increase bladder volume decrease bladder tone etc etc) and coupled with hormones makes any infection more serious then when you are not pregnant. These infections when serious can cause premature delivery of the baby and high blood pressure. A natural remedy would have to change the pH of your bladder (pH >7).
