Avatar n tn Hello I am a 30 year old woman. I used to suffer from urinary track infections (e-coli) and have been ok with it. It usually does not bother me if I drink alot of water every day. A month ago, I felt a burning, irritation sensation, so I went for an analysis and culture just to check and it turned out that the e-coli had disappeared and the analysis was negative. I went to my gynocologist who did a culture which was also negative.
Avatar m tn In all probability your father has uncontrolled diabetes with low grade urinary infection. Please consult a doctor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn In sexually active men, Chlamydia trachomatis is responsible for two-thirds of cases, followed by Neisseria gonorrhoeae and E. coli (or other bacteria that cause urinary tract infection). Particularly among men over age 35 in whom the cause is E. coli, epididymitis is commonly due to urinary tract obstruction.[2] Less common microbes include Ureaplasma, Mycobacterium, and cytomegalovirus, or Cryptococcus in patients with HIV infection. Avatar f tn It sounds to me you have a chronic E. coli infection which is surprising to me. How were you diagnosed with the E. coli? Where is it in your body? E. coli is an Enterococcus and this is what the major food borne infections are. They can be quite serious therefore I would not put off going back to your doctor and getting checked out again...and I mean pronto.
Avatar m tn Actually, you can get septic with E. coli. She may have had the E.coli that was in the urinary tract infection get into the blood stream or she could have had a problem with her bowel such as a tear and the E. coli (which is normal in the intestines) get into the blood stream. They would then give antibiotics and try to get rid of the E. coli in the blood. E. coli isn't always food borne. So, it depends on the situation. I hope this helps you resolve your question.
Avatar f tn About 3 months ago I started having pain, burning, etc.... I went to the doctor and found out I have an E. coli infection in my vagina. I know that it is much easier to get vaginal infections when you have a IUD. Well, I have taken two rounds of antibiotics as well as vaginal suppositories for the problem, and the problem persists. I am miserable and scared. I do not understand why the problem will not go away? I am probably having the device removed.
Avatar n tn I went to a urologist and he told me I had E Coli in my urine (I believe he did a urine test of some kind). There is something strange though. Besides the urinary symptoms, I'm experiencing premature ejaculation (not sure if it's because I laid off the masturbation for a while) and another symptom that freaks me out: Sometimes when I ejaculate, I can't urinate for over an hour.
Avatar n tn my doctor's office diagnosed me with e-coli in my urinary tract infection in this serious do i need to go to the hospital this is scaring my the doctor's nurse acted like it was serious but the doctor said to just take ceftin and i would be alright do you agree? what do i watch for?
Avatar n tn Hi there. Actually, E.Coli is the most common cause of all urinary tract infections. It takes place often when someone has a bowel movement and wipes back to front rather than front to back. E coli then transfers to the uretha and gets into the urinary tract. She was on IV antibiotics so was in the hospital?
Avatar f tn Hi, Lower back pain can sometimes be associated with Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), Kidney Infections, and various other health issues. Sometimes bacteria (usually E. Coli) from loose stool or diarrhea can find it's way to the urethra and can travel into the urinary tract causing an infection. If left untreated, the infection can cause pain and eventually extreme illness.
Avatar m tn What type of specimen did you give them? Coliform bacteria are normal intestinal flora. Examples are E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter. If you get E.coli in say a urine sample in sufficient numbers and you have burning on urination you would have a urinary tract infection. It is NOT an STD. E.coli and other coliforms can be spread easily after using the toilet or not washing your hands and touching something or a body part. It is totally common and nothing to worry about.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed wit having e-coli in my urinary tract I was given medication to take for 7 days but I still feel ill what do I do and what are the causes for this?
Avatar n tn The cipro was effective at knocking out the discharge both from my penis and anus within 24-48 hours. Could I have had some kind e coli infection spread throughout my digestive tract? I had no stomach problems or problems defecating. I know this out of the scope of the forum, but any suggestion from wise Dr. HHH is appreciated.
Avatar n tn One has done two times of urine culture test. The first time it shows E-coli >=10,000 cfu/ml and one of antibiotic Ampicillin is Resistant >=32. A few years late the second time of urine culture does not show E-Coli but Enterococcus 1,000 – 10,000 cfu/ml and the same antibiotics Ampicillin changes to Sensitive <= 2. Why does two urine culture show different bacteria?
Avatar f tn I have a spayed 8 1/2 yr old tabby who has had intermittent urinary issues for years. Starting in August she had frequency, urgency and straining; along with small droplets of blood outside the litter box. I work for a Vet, ive been a tech for a total of about 8 yrs now. My vet put her on pred 5mg 1 BID x 7 d, then 1 SID x 7 d then PRN. He said it is usually a behavioral issue and not always infection ( for cats) i treated her as i was instructed until i saw that her issues began again.
Avatar n tn Generally bad odor is due to infection, mainly by E coli. This can be diagnosed by urine culture. Strong fruity odor is due to uncontrolled diabetes. Interestingly urine odor changes in menopause too. Urinary bladder infection and kidney infections do produce strong smelling urine. Another reason is dehydration. Strong ammonia smell is due to protein breakdown. With increased frequency of urine UTI, bladder infection and diabetes have to be ruled out. Please discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Could it be e coli or any bateria, and can i get it outside the anus? Then, i lost apetite, i got a littlebit of fever and chills with some cold feeling with white tongue and alittle bit more yeast infection on my penis, the yeast on my penis, i had it before sex, but had them more red spot on the shaft of the penis. Avatar n tn The bacteria that is most frequently causing UTI is Escherichia coli (E. coli), which are naturally found in the colon, stomach, around the anus, and in the stool. Infections happen when these bacteria are spread from the rectum or vagina to the urethra and then to the bladder or kidneys. Presence of nitrates is considered normal, but presence of nitrites is considered abnormal and indicates UTI.
Avatar f tn coli infection was taken care of by the cipro, but another more persistent infection like a yeast infection or urinary tract MRSA (methecillin resistant stapholococcus aureus) has taken its place. Perhaps a different antibiotic like erythromycin, or one of its family would work better. I hope this helps...
