Common Questions and Answers about Upset stomach gas nausea

gas

hello doctor , i have been having some stomach problems where i feel a bloated type feeling in the area of my lower chest / upper stomach . when this happens i feel fatigue and nausea setting in. I am on a birth control for almost a year now , but i have just begun to feel this way so im almost sure that the pills are not the cause. i have in the past been diagnosed with sickle cell anemia and i dont know if the way i'm feeling is because of this.
nausea (lightheadedness),fatigue, shortness of breath, gas, stomach churning, bloating, constipation and or diarrhea. The episode lasts around 24 hours. This did not begin to occur until about 9 months ago. I typically have 2 glasses of wine a night with more on the weekends. I have had an endoscopy, (normal results with mild gastritis). CT scan of the abdomin (normal), full blood work, (normal with the exception of a slightly elevated liver enzyme.
I am just getting worse as this goes on daily now! I can barely leave home I feel sick. Does anyone else wake up with upset stomach and nausea? What the heck causes that? I don't know if the one Nortryptoline made it worse or not.
Hey birdlover, I had a lot of nausea. It was the worst first thing in the morning. I could always stomach oatmeal so I'd eat some and climb back in bed. Sometimes I ate it in bed. Eat often in small amounts. Ginger is supposed to be good for it as well as peppermint and there's always medipot.
I have what I believe to be excessive gas in my stomach, I belch a lot and it's worse when I drink water, even just sips. When I rise in then morning I feel the air in my stomach and the need to belch, so I do it. I take antiacid medicine daily and some Dimeticone to help with gas but it's just a temporary relief. Why could this be? it started like 2 weeks ago, I have no abdominal pain, just too much belching! I've tried eating really bland and still the water makes me do that!
I have belching, loads. Gas pain, gas in general. Heartburn. Abd pain. Nausea. It's terrible. I have a SLEW of GI meds in my medicine cabinet. Like I told my MD yesterday, I HATE taking all these meds...but like you even just water bothers me. Until someone figures something out...I've been taking prescribed prilosec 20mg a day. Zantac over the counter when the heartburn gets real bad. Just an FYI, both of these medications cause increased gas. For me, especially the zantac.
This particular problem started about two years ago when I began to have episodes where I became very sick with nausea and stomach spasms (tight gripping sensation in the abdomen) that came in waves, peaking at about seven hours, easing up at about fifteen and leave me feeling lethargic and mildly ill for about two days. When I feel a wave coming on my whole body is nauseated, my stomach feels like it's cramping and the sensation moves around from just below my ribcage to an ache my back.
Pepcid AC helps me. So does peppermint tea.
About a week later it all subsided except I had terrible sinus drainage which caused terrible stomach upset and nausea. I went back to the dr and he gave me Ceftin and told me to take tylenol sinus. I immediately started to feel better. The problem I am having now is that my stomach constantly is upset (gurgling) and I cant seem to get rid of it. I had my gallbladder removed four years ago and about a year ago I had elevated liver and pancreatic enzymes.
All of that stress can do a number on our bodies! Some of it is immediate and we see it right away like a headache, gas, upset stomach, sweaty palms, nausea, dizziness, heart palpitations, racing thoughts. All of these are a flight/fight response our bodies take when it feels threatened or fearful.Long term effects can be worse if we don't learn to get our stress and anxiety under control. I think we just need to learn ways to cope with stress better.
well, its been more than a month now, i feel like having gas in my stomach, i am eating good and drinking lots of water, but stools are not proper , the amount of stool passing has decreased and i feel vibration in my stomach and chest , i cough a lot after having a meal , can it be due to anxiety ? how can i clean my stomach fully ??
Referring to your post regarding A/Fib and bloated stomach/gas, I too have had the same experience. I believe it is a mechanical effect in that the gas inflates the intestine which in turn pushes on the vagus nerve or the bottom of the heart and triggers the A/F episode. The sensation is located under the left rib cage not in the chest. I can also induce A/F by swallowing something very cold on an empty stomach. This freaks out the nerve and the A/F proceeds.
00 AM sweating then stomach started getting upset and bloated. Took Gas-X, Xanax and Pepto Bismol with little relief. This is a nightmare as I am like this daily now and just about housebound. The gel type mucus I spit up is getting worse also.
** Long but please read ** Okay guys, this is my first post here but I think I fit in well. I'm hoping that someone can help. Starting early 1999, age 22, I began having stomach problems. Upset stomach, heartburn and that "lump in my throat" that would never seem to go away. After a couple months I went to my Dr. and it was diagnosed as a mild stomach ulcer with mild reflux (causing that "lump").

I've had some burping, more than usual but not enough to really bother me. The pain is very slight and pretty much feels like an upset stomach. I have a feeling it may be stress or IBS, irritable bowel syndrome. But yes, if nothing changes I'll go see my doctor.
I started out with a sore throat, headache,, gas, nausea, back pain upper right side.I thought that I had a severe sore throat. The Dr. prescribed antibiotics(cefuroxime). I felt worse(stomach) and stopped the medication. I had acid reflux problems three years ago and was on medication,so the Dr. thought it might be acid reflux..He prescribed Nexium(once a day) and Ranitidine (twice a day). I have been on this medication for a week. I still have bloating and gas attacks with some back pain.
I having problem with gas round in my stomach. my stomach is very upset. I have no problems with constipation. I having problem drink milk and eating cheese. I get this burning sensation in my stomach. I also take Proilosec.
I am on a anti-spasmatic medicatication for the IBS wich seems to be helping a little bit. I take an anti nausea, and also nexium for the heart burn. My stomach always hurts. If i stick to just plain white rice or baked potatoes, grilled chicken (things of that nature), I am usually safe. If I venture outside of that I am asking for trouble. I take immodium before I go to work in the morning and I try not to eat anything that would not upset my insides.
Here's some good info on possible causes for the gas and stomach problems. I've been having gas and PVC problems as well. [url=http://www.medicinenet.com/small_intestinal_bacterial_overgrowth/article.
H- pylori, gerd, polyp's no cancer, acid reflux, ibs, constipated (always have to take stool softeners and/ or miralax to go), sometimes diarrhea, gas, some belching to a lot, nauseas, some stomach pain, feelings of heaviness in the middle of stomach to upper pain, some stomach sounds like gurgling, whining, grinding, squeaking. I take a stomach pill, it starts with an O..think it's for acid issues. I had an upper and lower gi colon check about 4-5 years ago and was fine. Sometimes I'm okay.
I am taking one capsule effexor xr(venlafaxine) 150mg & Neuxam(alprazolam) 0.5 mg 1 & 1/2 tablet at night prescribed by Psychiatrist for about 12 days.My urine color has changed to dark and I have nause. Before starting the medicine I had upset stomach, gas & acidity. Is my dark urine color due to the medication? should I stop the medicine? or it is temporary and will get back normal when I stop the medication?
Have any of you had a stomach bug to drag on and on while you've been pregnant? Sorry, here comes the TMI- I've had a couple of spells of diarrhea the last couple of days. And here and there some stomach pains, cramps, nausea, lightheadedness, loss of appetite and fatigue. I just feel worn out. But it's nothing severe and I'm keeping food down, drinking water, etc. Just wondered if anyone has experienced it dragging out for a few days.
This initally had good results, but I have evolved into mild constipation and the stomach distress and gas seems to be escalating again. I am taking 300mcg Synthroid, 5mcg Cytomel, daily, vitamins, one HCL and a Digestive enzyme with each meal. I feel pretty good with current thyroid regime, though I do need 10hr of sleep to feel normal, it takes awhile to get going am, and still feel moody. I eat well, lots of veges , cooked and raw, fruit, low meat intake, lots of water.
I have been off tx for about a year now, i was on a phase III trial for virimadine w/peg from 10/04 until 4/05 dropped for non-response, about half way thru tx i developed annoying stomach trouble, mostly churning & upset and diarrea for like a month, they never determined if it was from the tx or what... i am still having stomach problems and it seems to be getting more frequent, at least 3 weeks out of the month i have either upset stomach & nausea or constipation & gas...
Is it ok to drink a sprite or 7-up or ginger ale for an upset stomach? What does the carbonation do?
At first I thought it was just an upset stomach, or that I had eaten something bad. I have tried not eating dairy products as I then thought it might be lactose problems. This helped a little bit, but I am still having awful diarrhea with lots of gas and only a very few times have had solid exretments. I am really worried that I have crones or ibs. I went to my school doctor and he referred me to a gasroenterologist but I don't have insurance to cover this.
I wake up with my back hurting a little and stomach feeling full. After getting up and taking a shower and passing a little gas my back and stomach are in no pain. While driving to work, I may eat some oatmeal for breakfast and usually drink a cup of coffee. When I get in to work I still feel great. After about an hour or so after getting in, I'll need to have a BM. The BM is usually smooth.
