If they have somethig inside it is a full pill undigested. Metformin XR has been reported to come out in your poo. Check tht out also if u are on Metformin XR. Be glad these are coming out and not remaining inside. I also had them just recently and I disinfected everythng and disected it, white mash potatoe substance inside, everyone says the same thing when directed. This is not a ghost pill, but if a shell only yes.

Did you ever find out what the elongated capsule shaped thing was in oyur moms stool? I have been having the same thing and i managed to pick one up with a tissue and squish it and there was white stuff inside. Very strange. Please let us know.

i have been having these pea-sized white balls in my stool. When broken open they have pus in them. I have been to a gastroenterologist and he did a colonostopy and found olny hemorriods, They sent the samples off and got a negative on parasites and then sent it to pathology and said it is undisgested medication. Hi there. Yesterday at night i had the feeling i need to go to the WC. The only thing i had was a little bit of mucus on the toilet paper, that smelled very, very bad. I had these issues as well, when disected the entire pill insides are inside this little graped sized object, undigested Metformin XR, yes, undigested. My dr and I wondered why my A1c went from 7 to 12, well here is the answer I was not digestng the new Metformin XR. If you see anything in your stool, get gloves on and get it out, rinse it off i sink and lay on paper towel and than DISINFECT EVERYTHING. Inspect this, if it looks like undigested food tomatoe or bellpepper etc. you know what it is. If you dont call your dr and pick up a stool test and hve it examined by a pathologist. Your body is cleansing itself, it sheds the lining of your colon and thats a good thing. Better out than in.

the last two days I've had food come out of my stool undigested the first time was a baked potato the second day it was my vegetables like I had corn carrots and either been or peas. I'm pretty scared about this seems not right. What should I do?

I am pretty sure it is one of my metformin, but slightly swollen due to absorbing liquids in my stomach/bowel. My question is... if it is able to absorb liquids...why didn't it just dissolve like it is supposed to?? I am a little concerned as this is more than once it has happened, and I NEED those pills. WorriedOne, you're not the only one who checks their stool. Everyone does it. And anyone who has a brain would worry if they saw their medication - apparently whole - in the stool. You don't have to tell them you looked in the capsule, but at least call and see if the whole of the capsule should dissolve in the digestive system. If they say yes, then it's time to call your doctor.

Black, tarry stool as opposed to bright red bleeding may be an indicator of upper GI bleeding. (Peptobismol can cause harmless darkening of stool and iron in the stool can also cause it to darken.) If it is determined you are not properly digesting your food, you might want to get tested for celiac disease to make sure that isn't the cause. Also, are you able to/do you chew your food well?
