442658 tn?1563386491 Most hernias in puppies are umbilical hernias that appear as a little bubble where the umbililcal cord was attached, and they are caused at birth by the mother chewing the cord off too vigorously and too short. The chewing and pulling on the umbilical cord causes a tear in the wall and the hernia is formed. In most cases of umbilical hernias, unless they are so large that they are a threat to the dog's health in the way of the intestines slipping through them, they are left alone.
Avatar n tn I had quadruple hernia repair 2 weeks ago, umbilical, 2 inguinal and spieglian. I have also had a chronic cough. How do I know if I reinatured my umbilical hernia? I am feeling a hard knot and am not sure if it is scary tissue or hernia.
Avatar n tn I still may need surgery for the umbilical hernia, but the diastasis/separation is no more.
Avatar n tn i just had UMBILICAL HERNIA surgery in jan 2009 what type of exercise can i do to start to strenght up my abs again with out hurting my self I just want to get back in shape
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
Avatar f tn How old is the child and has the hernia increased in size.? Has the pediatrician of the child suggested surgery to you .?.
Avatar m tn I'm not a doctor or in the medical field. I just had my umbilical hernia surgery 2.5 weeks ago with mesh. If you have the surgery without mesh you could have another hernia as your putting strain down below and it could come through another weak point. It also can get bigger and quite ugly. It is your intestines that you are pushing and squishing back into your body. It's amazing how much we use stomach. Anything you do while working out, you will use your stomach muscles.
Avatar f tn My husband just now poked me in my belly button .. He knows not to do that because I have an umbilical hernia .. It hurt so bad I punched him , it sends shocks through my body.. It's a terrible feeling ... I'm sorry you are going through the pain of a hernia.. Thankfully mine only hurts when I touch it ..not constantly... Was there anything you could take for the pain besides Tylenol?
Avatar f tn Hi. Iam 32 years old. Before 12 years i had a minor surgery fixing the umbilical hernia right above my navel. During last period of time i was living normal life doing all physical activities as others after fixing my hernia. But now its back again and i can see it while i am coughing or when i pull in my abdomon. I am being fat and overweight since last 6months(height:170cm, weight:90kg).
Avatar f tn Question is your umbilical hernia on your belly button?
Avatar n tn t know if all hernias are the same or not but my husband has an umbilical hernia and the surgery for that is a day surgery. Cysts done via horizontal cut are a 3 - 5 day hospital stay and much more involved.
Avatar f tn 19th which is a week away and couldnt get in sooner however since I have a reductable hernia and no cause for emergancy surgery at this time how can I stay as comftable as possable until appt? and now exsprencing almost constant pain in lower back thatg travels to middle back,,more frequent adomenal pain,my sides hurt now,and Im feeling pressure in pelvic, should I go to E.R.since I was already there and told I was fine and would be ok?
Avatar f tn I have an incisional hernia. Had a gall bladder surgery and this being my 3rd kids in 3 1/2 years it caused the scar tissue to rip open. I have to have surgery after the baby is born. I do believe m most umbilical hernias self correct though. Good luck.
Avatar f tn It is probably an Umbilical Hernia. You probably have had the weakening in that area since birth and the added pressure from being pregnant has caused it to bulge outward/herniate- is where the intestines push out through a small tear in the lining. Nothing will be done during pregnancy or possibly if ever as long as you don't start having problems, such as pain or strangulated intestines. with it.
459969 tn?1398170254 We are getting him every weekend, but he has an umbilical hernia. Do these hurt the baby? It is fairly big. My first thought is that it looked like another penis(enlarged) coming out of his belly button. I just want to make sure when he has tummy time, that this will not be painful for him. and if anyone has had a baby with this, do they go away, ,or will it require surgery. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have a small umbilical hernia. There is no pain, but when run my hand across by stomach above my belly button, it sticks out. My doctor wants to "keep an eye on it" and check it again in 3 months. Can I continue with weight training, swimming, running, and bicycle riding? The doctor seemed extremely vague about what training I could continue. Is there anything I can do to keep from having surgery?
Avatar n tn If there are symptoms of an umbilical hernia even without complications, you should consult your doctor for advice. In adults, most umbilical hernias do not correct themselves unless diagnosed at a very early stage, and they must be treated with minor surgery. Do keep us posted on your progress and follow up.
Avatar m tn This is the second time that I had a HIDA scan and in one year I have gone from 30 down to 26. I have no stones and very little pain. I have an umbilical hernia which has to be repaired with mesh and they suggested that they remove the gallbladder at the same time. Problem is that I lost a foot of intestine several years ago to diverticulitis surgery and I am afraid that if they remove my gall bladder , I will be unable to hold rushing to bathroom after eating.
Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery a year ago, not too long after the surgery i realized that it was back. I didn't think anything about it, but the past month I have had really bad pain, worse pain than when I got it fixed the first time. The doctor just used permanent sutures the first time, is there any way that I could have this surgery without having to have the mesh screen put in this time? Also, my abdominal muscles are separated pretty bad, could I ask the general surgeon about diastasis repair?
Avatar m tn This can be repaired surgically. It may be a reflection of an umbilical hernia. This needs to be evaluated by a plastic surgeon or a general surgeon. The extent of the surgery will determine its costs.
Avatar m tn (I'm a male in my late twenties.) About six months ago I got a surgery to fix a small umbilical hernia. For about half that time, I've felt like the hernia symptoms have returned: there's lots of discomfort and 'itchiness' at the site, especially when laying on my back or swimming, which is how I discovered the hernia in the first place. However, there is no visible lump or bulge that I can see this time, save for some toughness that my doctor identified as scar tissue.
Avatar n tn So after all that aggravation and wasted money now i have to go get surgery again to fix my hernia that he should have diagnosed in feb.I have a ct scan that does show a hernia in that spot.My question is how dangerous is it to do smart lipo over a hernia 3 times?what could have happened?are doctors trained to diagnos suspected hernias before doing smart lipo to avoid rupturing a hernia?
