Ultram er narcotic

Common Questions and Answers about Ultram er narcotic

ultracet

Avatar m tn was doing some reading and it seems the dol hcl is like the hydrocodone and the regular dol is like ultram--- however the ultram er is totally different than the regular ultram??? anyone know the diff on these nightmares??
Avatar m tn My physician prescribed these for me because I have a bad knee issue. I avoided heavy narcotic pain meds (taking hydro instead of percs for 6 weeks) and didn't want to take ultram either after reading the stories here but I have to travel for work. I'm stopping the hydro but wanted to give me knee a couple of more weeks to adjust...the meds mask the pain so I can move and interact with my clients physically, i.e. walking, communicating, lunches & dinners, etc.
Avatar m tn I was going so nuts I called my sis from 40 miles away to come help me at home I was losing it ( God give her soul her peace ) She came down but I had already jumped in my car and drove to the er by then. The er doc gave me that med they give for nausea and the nerves cant remember the name green capsule. Before I got home I was back on Oxycontin and here I am after switchin to Morphine. Sorry about telling my story lil at a time just the way I am. Will confess more later if I think of it.
Avatar n tn I have been having really bad headaches and my doctor gave me Ultram. He says its not a narcotic but it makes me nervous. Is it addictive - if so, how? I am nervous because I just recently stopped taking Lortab- I dont want to go down that path again.
Avatar m tn is anyone switching ultram tramadol for pain management, How does itseem to be working fro you?
Avatar f tn The problem I have is that before when I was taking 100 mg Ultram ER twice a day with the methadone as listed above my pain was controled, but since I have tried going down on it I have pain all the time again. I was wondering if there was any other long acting medication out there that works simular to the Ultram ER?
Avatar n tn I Agree with ballgame get off the ultram its only going to make things worst in the end........you cant get off a narcotic with a narcotic dont work that way......
Avatar f tn I really despise Ultram. My doctor refuses to even prescribe it to any of his patients. Ultram is promoted as being "non-narcotic", but it works by affecting the narcotic sensors of the brain, so effectively you can become addicted to it even though it's not a narcotic. If you're going to risk addiction, you might as well take something that's strong enough to do something about the pain and take an actual narcotic!
Avatar f tn Ultram Effed me up i was told it was non narcotic so non addicting. Ha i had no idea what i was doing to myself untill i stopped taking them...Wow that was hell the withdrawls were bad physically but mentally worse because of the antidepressant thats in them. That drug is bad news.
Avatar n tn ) Although I do try to keep my mind over the pain through meditation and other positive mind-thought methods, I continue to take pain medications (ultram-er/flexeril) daily as well as loveox injections for the clots (of which, I may be on for life - at last check the clots had not recanalized - both clots are becoming thick and fixed.) Do you have suggestions on how I can better manage my daily pain as well as maintain mobility and some flexibility, oppose to stiffening of the hips and spine?
Avatar m tn Ultram is not a narcotic therefore not addictive like vicodin. If you take it only as prescribed and in frequently you shouldn't have any problem or withdrawal.
439522 tn?1214951189 Well I can just tell you my experiences, but you should know that with withdraw everyone can react differently. That said, I was on Ultram ER (200 mg 1x daily) and Ultracet (37.5 mg 4x daily) and was taken off of them to switch meds temporarily but then switched back recently...anyways while I was getting off of them I had little withdrawl symptoms and not even close to comprable of when I had withdrawls from oxy/percocet/morphine....
469210 tn?1219188128 Can someone please tell me why you cannot take Ultram and be on AD's? Is it all AD's ? Do you take one Ultram and it kills you? What';s up with this? I'm looking for a non-narcotic, non-acetominiphen, pain reliever and Ultram was looking pretty good until I read that it can kill me.
Avatar n tn I would like to know if I take Ultram for these w/d symptoms, will I then have to go through w/d symptoms when I stop the Ultram - and if so, what are they like? How safe or unsafe from a narcotic standpoint is Ultram? - and is it actually considered a narcotic? I've had a Dr. tell me no it is not a narcotic and a good replacement for pain control for other narcotics.
Avatar f tn it is NOT a narcotic, but it works on the brain the exact same way a narcotic does. Tramadol (Ultram) is an analgesic just like OTC pain relievers. This is why so many professionals thought years ago that it was a safe alternative to narcotics. But because it binds to opiad pain receptors in the body, the body responds as though there were a narcotic on board. It blocks the reuptake of brain chemicals (serotonin & norepinephrine) & changes the "message" it receives.
2074300 tn?1340591085 These are very addicting so you need to be careful. You dont need anything waking up the beast that lives within us. Have you discussed other non narcotic options with your doctor?
Avatar n tn i have been put on 50mg of ultram 2-3times a day is ultram addictive and how long does it take to work , stop the pain????
Avatar m tn Im not sure what ultram is but I bo know xanax and wellutrin can be taken together. I take zoloft and occasionally zanax with it. Is there someone close to u that can slap your hand and give u one pill at a time to ween off. I tell u I think getting rid of the meds and cold turkey work better. I tried to ween but It was torture and could never get under 4 a day. so when I was out my family helped me alot, I couldnt of done it by myself.
Avatar f tn Let me explain better.....he was weening me off of Ultram and I was doing really, really well but my insurance would not pay for as many Ultram as I needed. So, He didn't want me going c/t so he wanted to give me something that was like Ultram to replace it. He told me that the MS ER was the same "kind" of med as Ultram. He said that it is the "sister" to Ultram. Right now I'm on the next to LOWEST dose there is so it is a very, very low dose.
Avatar m tn On another note, I know that Ultram is supposed to be non narcotic and you would think therefore non addictive, but I used to know a girl that lost her house, her car, and eventually her two children because she was spending all her money buying Ultram from people illegally. She was absolutely addicted to it. I guess you can become addicted to just about anything.
Avatar f tn Because it is technically not a narcotic, doctors prescribe it with impunity, seemingly not worried about people getting hooked on it, but Ultram has ruined as many lives as any narcotic, and the sad part is that in many cases, that ruination has come without the benefit of pain control because as a pain med, it is quite weak.
Avatar f tn Hi Pajo, I'm so sorry you are feeling bad. Try to hang in there and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. When is your next appt? They should be able to give you a proper taper schedule to help minimize your withdrawals. I'm a little confused about the Ultram. Is this the first time you've taken this? It's Ultram ER, and they are telling you to take 1/2 pill at a time? In addition to the Oxy?
Avatar n tn i recently started taking ultram after seeing my doctor and asking for a non-narcotic pain reliever. i have had serious problems with norco and lortab in the past. i recently started going to aa and have quit drinking and smoking, so naturally even though i have serious back pain i wanted OFF THE DRUGS. well, i switched from norco to ultram and when i ran out, i have started withdrawal REALLY bad. this is worse than i have ever experienced with the previous "narcotic" drugs.
Avatar m tn He is recommending that I start taking Ultram and see how that does for increased pain on an as needed basis. I remember that there were a lot of negative remarks about Ultram way back when and I am leery about adding something else that can be addictive. Any thoughts?
