ultracet vs darvocet

My friend and I were talking the other day and she said, "Oh, my mom said a lady at her prayer group said that there was "a new darvocet out on the market now." Of course I am more than curious since my mom just had to stop darvocet herself. My friend then tells me this "new darvocet" is called Ultracet! Can you believe this? I knew this was coming since darvocet was pulled by the FDA, now the drs. are going to start prescribing ultracet/ultram/tramadol alot more.

I have been on Darvocet (3 x day) for ten years. I have severe scoliosis, deteriorating disks and bone spurs in my neck. With Darvocet being withdrawn from the market, my doctor put me on Tramadol, 2 x day. Today is my first day on the new meds, I feel rather out of sorts but not too bad yet. Can't tell yet whether it's helping pain or not, since I always hurt. Has anyone else switched to Tramadol? With the Darvocet dose I've been on, can I expect severe withdrawal symptoms?

I just wanted to ask you about your post here about Tramadol/Ultracet.... I have been taking 3/4 to 1 and 1/2 pill a day for about 2 months now, and I am 6 months pregnant. My back Dr. prescribed them to me last year and I had some left over, I take them because of my chronic back pain. My OB doesn't know I take them, she knows I did for almost 2 months before i knew I was pregnant and said to stop and gave me one script for a few Darvocet instead....

I believe Ultram and Ultracet are the same. It is 37.5 tramadol and whatever of acetaminophen. I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination. I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period. If ultram is different than that is news to me.

Can anyone help? Can I get off Hydro's by taking Darvocet? If so, how many Darvocet's can I take, not to be sick?

Still some pain so am taking 3 Ultracet tabs per 24 hours with pretty good pain relief except following 30 minutes on the treadmill and various muscle building exercises and stretches. To calm down those muscles following exercises and stretches I would like to take one 200mg Celebrex daily but one drug interaction cite suggests "Moderate" drug-drug issue involving CYP450 2D6, which means nothing to me.

Hey Aaron... Ultracet is addictive. Many people have gotten hooked on it. Its Ultram/Ultracet/Tramadol I believe they are all related and whehter doctors say so or not, they are addictive and can be dangerous. :( sorry for the bad news. They are also derived from the opiate family. Be careful with them. Ive used them during in between times when I was using -- just to hold w/drawal at bay -- so that should tell you something right there..

well, Oxycodone is a more powerful narcorin painkiller in general.. But you have to rememebr that people react to different meds differently as well. Because I know that for me oxycodone(my drug of choice) gives me a stronger buzz, longer pain relief, and worse withdrawls.. But, I know people that say the Hydrocodone does them better and makes their pain better than oxycodone.

How many pills a day or for how long do you think you would need to be on Ultracet/Ultram before you would experience withdrawal symptoms? My husband took about 100 pills in a 2 week period (unknown to me - they were mine!) and he had mysterious stomach cramping/pain around the time he finished them/ran out. Sounds like it was related.

i just went to the doctor, and he gave me ultracet. does this work for pain and help withdrawl from hydros?

whats ultracet? i know its a pain reliever with tylenol, but does it give you the energy and motivation of vike or percs? I ask because I had to change doctors, and while he wasnt too happy to write for the vicodins i have been on for years, he had no problem with ultracet and he gave me a script.....so im basically asking, do people get addicted to this drug? should i not even start it?

I was taking then every day since. Then maybe about 7 months ago I added ultracet to my poisen. I have VERY easy access to Rx's. and since A family member of mine get vicodin I was getting pills from all angles. So I was taking 1 vicodin and 2 ultracets in the morning, 3 ulracets in the afternoon, 1 vicodin 2 ultracets in the evening and 3 ultracets in the night! I did that everyday, the first time i tried quitting i was going through a nervous scared depressed feeling.

Ultracet needs to be tapered. How much were you taking a day?

was your tramadol presription for ULTRAM or ULTRACET? If it is/was UltraCET, that contains acetaminophen (tylenol) as well as the tramadol, so therefore, if you took additional tylenol with it, you could have gotten too much of the tylenol ingredient, which could make you sick (and cause liver damage if continued).

Hey any one awake yet....I have a question...the doc. now has put me on ultracet...it says 37.5 5/325....i had to take 2 yesterday over the cource of 12 hours...my questions is i'm reading that ppl are becoming addicted...i dont understand how....they dont make me feel high.....however the pain is better..not completely gone but better...so my ? is why are ppl getting addicted taking 10-15-20 a day if they dont get you high...can someone enlighten me.

Um.....If you are taking 6 darvocet vs. 5or10mgs @ say 6 per day, you may be fooling yourself .......I don't get how you can feel any withdrawal at all.......A huge part of addiction is "mental".......that's all I will say. Luv, Nauty............

Anyone out there that can feel me in on Ultracet experiences? My doctor put me on this instead of Hydrocodone today and said that since I take Effexor XR that there is a possibility of seizures. I have researched this since and have read all the medical info but would like to hear from real people and their experiences. I have take Hydrocodone since April of last year, 1 or 2 5/500 a day on average and rarely 3 or 4. There are some days that I have not needed it but most days I do.

The problem is I have a MAJOR job interview today and am not feeling well. chills, runny nose, bathroom, etc. I found an Ultracet lying around. Will this help me get through today? I really need to bring my A game.

What is the danger or addiction potential problem with using Darvocet for pain relieve? And is getting off these things going to create bad WD's?? Any advice on this and some solutions for a plan? Hi, I am wanting to quit my Darvocet use. I take 6 650mg a day and want to stop. How do I taper and what do I expect in the progress and how long should I do this...I am so sick of them.

He did an ultrasound and found my overy is about 3 times normal size. He gave me a prescription for darvocet. He said it was safe to take durring pregnancy but all the info I found said otherwise. Has anyone ever taken it? I'm only 5 weeks and don't want to take anything that may cause birth defects.

I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disk disease, and cervical disk pain from previous cervical surgeries. Up until 2 weeks ago, I was taking Effexor XR daily, and Zanaflex and Ultracet 37.5, as needed. 2 weeks ago my cervical disk started going haywire with pain. I upped my Ultracet to 3 a day as prescribed and started taking the Zanaflex to the maximum dosage too. This did not faze the pain.
