Hey any one awake yet....I have a question...the doc. now has put me on ultracet...it says 37.5 5/325....i had to take 2 yesterday over the cource of 12 hours...my questions is i'm reading that ppl are becoming addicted...i dont understand how....they dont make me feel high.....however the pain is better..not completely gone but better...so my ? is why are ppl getting addicted taking 10-15-20 a day if they dont get you high...can someone enlighten me.
I am a 43 year old male. I am recovering from a herniated disk surgery. This is my second surgery on my L5 disk in the past 16 years. I had immediate relief from the surgery as it related to the excruciating pain that went down my leg and through my hip area and it was quite an emotional experience to say the least. I didn't want to sleep the night I had the surgery because I had endured the pain for several months prior to the surgery.
I didn't realize there were different schedules for pain meds...I have rsd in both hands..I've gone from ultracet to vicodin to my second increase on percocet..Maybe this is why my pm dr is hesitant to up my dosage anymore. I have increased my neurontin increased to 1200mg a day..also on cymbalta and voltaren gel..Thanks for the info....
I am a music minister in an Evangelical Bible Church and have just had my second back surgery. My back feels great! I had unbearable pain for only a year (not much compared to some of the posters on here (7+ years of back pain, how do you do it?)). Throughout my year of pain, my doctor prescribed me hydrocodone (from 5's to eventually 10's) and tramadol 50mg (which I took with tylenol 50/500 - making it basically generic ultracet).
"cet" means tylenol..like ga guy said...not all drugs with tylenol say "cet" tho...lortab does not...percocet and lorcet do...but they all contain tylenol///ultracet is tam with tylenol....Ultram is just tramadol///tramadol is the generic name and Ultam is a brand name

GOOD IDEA! I wouldnt personally mess with the ultracet or trams. The scary factor alone would prevent me. Used them in the past, but didnt know all the dangers involved.
PT might help wonders. What is the back issue? Herniations? Lower back? I injured my back really badly when I was 24. I had prior herniation L4-5 but I didnt bother me.
How many pills a day or for how long do you think you would need to be on Ultracet/Ultram before you would experience withdrawal symptoms? My husband took about 100 pills in a 2 week period (unknown to me - they were mine!) and he had mysterious stomach cramping/pain around the time he finished them/ran out. Sounds like it was related.
I believe Ultram and Ultracet are the same. It is 37.5 tramadol and whatever of acetaminophen. I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination.
I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period.
If ultram is different than that is news to me.
I have been self medicating myself for god knows how many years. I just recently was taking ultracet, percocet and vicodin for over a year. At very low doses but doing it everyday. Today is my second day off. It ***** of course I feel very down and that my only window to being happy is gone. Now I have been diagnosed with depression and it never really felt like that's what it was to me. In talking to my doc (who doesn't know about my addiction) She diagnosed me with ADD.
i just went to the doctor, and he gave me ultracet. does this work for pain and help withdrawl from hydros?
was your tramadol presription for ULTRAM or ULTRACET? If it is/was UltraCET, that contains acetaminophen (tylenol) as well as the tramadol, so therefore, if you took additional tylenol with it, you could have gotten too much of the tylenol ingredient, which could make you sick (and cause liver damage if continued).
Ultracet or tramadol sucks, it's good for squawt. But the Docs like it because the manufacturer says it's not addictive and it's not a controlled substance,but it is very addictive. I hope you find relief for your pain,it's a real tuff road to find.
The meds that they have you on are really not for the control of anything more than minor pain. If more reparative surgery is not an option, it sounds like your condition has progressed to the point where you are going to need to go to an actual pain management doctor, to get meds that most general practitioners are not comfortable prescribing.
Ultracet is not for severe pain even though it is listed as such. Not to mention that it is as addictive as any narcotic.
I was 6 weeks pregnant. She asked me to do a quantitative hcg on monday and another on wednesday, and gave some ultracet for the pain I was supposed to feel during this week. Monday hcg levels were 6800 and wednesday they were 9500. I have felt no pain, and have been spotting only when I whipe, but she told me I would have heavy bleeding like a hevier menstrual period. Is it possible it was just a blood clot and not a miscarriage?
My husband just had his Gallbladder removed and he was addict for 13 years he's been clean for 7 the dr prescribed him Ultracet and he's scared to take it for the pain because of his addictive past. The Dr knew he was a addict and told him they are not addictive but reading online it says it is should he get the script filled or just take OTC meds? If OTC what should he take?
Hey, I am on day 3 and things arn't as bad as I thought, (so far) but I am using ultracet which is a non narcotic that my roommate had left over from a doc's visit! I am also using immodium and it seems to be making it easier on my ***! No offence with the language, hopefully? Anyhow, hang in there, I am!
