Ultracet medication acetaminophen

Common Questions and Answers about Ultracet medication acetaminophen

ultracet

Avatar f tn s amazing to me that there are still doctors out there telling people that Tramadol is not addictive. Ultracet is Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Your husband is a WISE man to question this before he takes it! Congrats to him on 7 yrs Clean!!! If he is able to tolerate NSAIDS, he could take those or just acetaminophen (w/o the synthetic opioid, i.e. tramadol). I find that Advil Liqui-Gel Capsules work the best for me and there are generic versions of this too at Walmart or Walgreens.
Avatar m tn I believe Ultram and Ultracet are the same. It is 37.5 tramadol and whatever of acetaminophen. I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination. I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period. If ultram is different than that is news to me.
Avatar f tn was your tramadol presription for ULTRAM or ULTRACET? If it is/was UltraCET, that contains acetaminophen (tylenol) as well as the tramadol, so therefore, if you took additional tylenol with it, you could have gotten too much of the tylenol ingredient, which could make you sick (and cause liver damage if continued).
Avatar f tn The meds that they have you on are really not for the control of anything more than minor pain. If more reparative surgery is not an option, it sounds like your condition has progressed to the point where you are going to need to go to an actual pain management doctor, to get meds that most general practitioners are not comfortable prescribing. Ultracet is not for severe pain even though it is listed as such. Not to mention that it is as addictive as any narcotic.
Avatar f tn Ultracet is Tramadol and acetaminophen. Tramadol is highly addictive and a bear to quit. Those on Tramadol should taper off of it. It is a synthetic opiate. Most here would not recommend it for w/d.
Avatar f tn I am currently 22 wks pregnant and i have also been taking ultracet. My doctor has told me that it was fine. That it wasn't known to cause birth defects but could cause withdrawal symptoms for the baby. How is your baby doing? I am currently taking 2 sometimes 3 a day. Does anyone know if that is bad? Please let me know i mean i feel so guilty for taking this medicine. I'm just hoping there is some light at the end of the tunnel and that i'm not that bad of a person.
Avatar n tn Especially if you have a history of addiction. The problem with it is after taking heavier medication you need more of the Ultracet to get relief but at the amount it takes to feel better, you are risking a siezure. Get off everything all together, it will be worth it. That is what I have to keep telling myself.....
Avatar m tn Hey Aaron... Ultracet is addictive. Many people have gotten hooked on it. Its Ultram/Ultracet/Tramadol I believe they are all related and whehter doctors say so or not, they are addictive and can be dangerous. :( sorry for the bad news. They are also derived from the opiate family. Be careful with them. Ive used them during in between times when I was using -- just to hold w/drawal at bay -- so that should tell you something right there..
Avatar m tn I had my surgery ten years ago and have been in chronic pain for the last year. The doctor said my recent MRI was normal. I take codeine and ultracet but it doesn't help much.
Avatar f tn However the real concern is to monitor all other medications you take that also contains Acetaminophen. Read your labels as so many things now contain Acetaminophen. You must add up all the Acetaminophen you take and avoid exceeding that magic number of 3,000mg. Actually the lower the better. I take 2,000mg a day and no more. I never purchase anything that contains Acetaminophen so I avoid exceeding the recommendations. Regarding the other medications.
Avatar m tn I am just wondering if this is approaching a dangerous amount of acetaminophen and whether I should be worried about liver problems. I spoke to a pharmacist and she said I should be ok.
1064524 tn?1257199755 Once my medication was changed and the acetaminophen was removed my liver enzymes returned to the normal range rather quickly. I was lucky. I take 500 mgs. of Milk Thistle a day to help my liver out with the detoxification of the pain meds and I have found that this works very well with no adverse reactions to any medications that you may be taking. You may want to talk to your doctor about it to see if it may be good for you as well.
1295160 tn?1283136220 I used Tylenol (acetaminophen) as well, as recommended by both my GI doc and my hepatologist. For patients with more advanced liver disease in particular, acetaminophen is generally preferred over aspirin or NSAID drugs because it doesn’t affect the blood’s ability to clot, and likely causes less stomach irritation.
Avatar f tn My friend and I were talking the other day and she said, "Oh, my mom said a lady at her prayer group said that there was "a new darvocet out on the market now." Of course I am more than curious since my mom just had to stop darvocet herself. My friend then tells me this "new darvocet" is called Ultracet! Can you believe this? I knew this was coming since darvocet was pulled by the FDA, now the drs. are going to start prescribing ultracet/ultram/tramadol alot more.
Avatar f tn Ultracet is a straight up 37.5 tramadol and 325 acitomitophene(sp?
Avatar f tn Anyone out there that can feel me in on Ultracet experiences? My doctor put me on this instead of Hydrocodone today and said that since I take Effexor XR that there is a possibility of seizures. I have researched this since and have read all the medical info but would like to hear from real people and their experiences. I have take Hydrocodone since April of last year, 1 or 2 5/500 a day on average and rarely 3 or 4. There are some days that I have not needed it but most days I do.
Avatar f tn whats ultracet? i know its a pain reliever with tylenol, but does it give you the energy and motivation of vike or percs? I ask because I had to change doctors, and while he wasnt too happy to write for the vicodins i have been on for years, he had no problem with ultracet and he gave me a script.....so im basically asking, do people get addicted to this drug? should i not even start it?
Avatar m tn From what Ive been told, Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is one of the worst things you can take when it comes to your liver. Im pretty sure the Rx drugs Ambien and Lunesta are both easier on the liver. The only downside of course being they are quite habit-forming.
Avatar n tn I think the dosages you give is the amount of acetaminophen (tylenol) prescribed with the hydrocodone. Hydrocodone comes in 5, 7.5 and 10 mg tablets that includes acetaminophen. So the prescription will read 5/750 apap. That is 5mg of hydrocodone and 750 mg of (apap) acetaminophen. Sandee has provided you with some good information from the National Pain Foundation. I also suggest that you discuss this with your prescribing physician.
