5681139 tn?1372268736 It seems very unusual for people to be prescribed Tysabri right off the bat. I am very confused as to what drug to go on, if any. His first choice for me is Tysabri, followed by Gilenya, followed by Copoxone. I have a Naturopath (who actually has MS) who is vehemently against all of the drugs and questions their efficacy. The neurologist says it's my decision but I feel completely unqualified to make such an important decision.
1760800 tn?1406753451 He feels that Tysabri is the way to go. I know that there are others here on it or used to be. I would love some insight on what to expect, how long it takes, etc... Thanks!
989689 tn?1333548520 I was wondering what happened to you...good to see you here! I had an MRI some six months after starting Tysabri, and I, too, had no new lesions. Good medicine, that! And ain't love grand!! I'm glad you have such a kind and caring girlfriend. Keep in touch, eh?
Avatar f tn The fact is that at certain points in our relationship it did go financially well, but even then he never went to the trouble to ask me to marry him. I am a religious person and I believe that it is not right in the eyes of the Lord to stay together without being married and I have mentioned to him on several occasions that this may be the reason that we cannot get out of the financial crisis we are in.
6990909 tn?1435275816 Some things work awhile, then I have to move to the next level. Each time I have to change my program it is just above my comfort zone. If I get to comfortable, I may stop growing. Sharing this shows your commitment, we'll be waiting for a report. Kids do make a huge impact on recovery, both making it obviously worth it and extremely difficult. My kids were jealous of AA at one time. My kids have seen a difference in me and in turn, a better life and environment for them.
Avatar m tn I hope you realize I wasn't trying to 'panic' anyone for any reason. I simply said that I am at the 'highest risk' for PML, cause I've HAVE had other meds for MS than just Tysabri in the past. I HAVE tested positive for JCV and I've been on Tysabri for over 3 years. Those are the facts.
572651 tn?1530999357 I had a relapse in between the two falls and that took time and energy for treatment. I am also still traveling to Columbus monthly for my Tysabri and had an extra two days of trips this month to complete the Tysabri study I have been in. Monday—Friday are still work days for me, although if I had to give up anything, this would be it! Unfortunately that is not an option since our health insurance is through my job. On Saturdays, at least half of the day is devoted to the MS Swim group.

Avatar f tn If you guys are desperate take her to the ER and have her say she is suicidal and by law they have to keep her and commit her to a psych ward where she will see a psychiatrist who will then help her to detox. Let me know your location and I'll find you the help in that area that you need. I've been dealing with things such as this for over 30 years and I would love to help. In the meantime,if you have access to a mild opiate, give it to her for the wd.
645390 tn?1338555377 I have really backslided since I stopped. I see neuro soon to figure out next step. I am going to ask if doing Tysabri every other month might be ok. Anyone know this?
Avatar f tn had my Tysabri last week, after being off 2 months and have done nothing but sleep all day since. They drew blood (going to Oncology Clinic) and my WBC was high as was 2 other values but no one said anything about it. Considered a UTI but leukocytes high but nitrates? normal and no s/s. Feeling a bit better today, but sure hoping next dose in June will make me feel better. Figure extreme fatigue but this much this long is new for me.
233622 tn?1279334905 AH!! Ok. I knew I would get some great advice here. It is my wondering where I am and NOT my wanting anything else put into my records. but I do see both of your points. I will skip the letter and just go on as normal. I can't say I would try Tysabri. The risks to me seem too high at the moment. One of my questions or wondering has been will insurance cover a wheel chair for someone who is not progressive.
Avatar f tn As always, we have to make sure we know enough about our own health and medical equipment to have the confidence required to make good use of our personal 'STOP' and 'GO' choices (officially known as informed consent). Sounds like you came here to educate yourself so you can make a good decision from the get-go. Brave to you! Wish I had more than this to offer. I will try to get you some additional personal input here.
572651 tn?1530999357 ve looked into this already, but it seems to me it would make sense for BC/BS to fly you and a friend to NZ once a month for your Tysabri infusion. If your hubby is busy (or bored) I am sure that you could find someone here to help you navigate the airports once in a while. Just a thought.
294425 tn?1288528395 Hey Guys, Just wanted to give you all a heads up, in the interest of us all being informed patients... :) I saw this article this morning, and here's the crux of it: "New Case of PML Confirmed in U.S. A new case of PML, or progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, has been confirmed in the U.S., in a patient receiving Tysabri for the treatment of MS. After 14 treatments, the patient reported a change in health status, and the patient’s physician began testing for PML.
497015 tn?1209737845 who wanted to put me on Tysabri, I, after many arguments with him declined this treatment, due to the s/e and have opted for Copaxone again with another Neuro. Like Lulu said, I also think that Tys. is a last resort - so why do you want to come off Betasaron?
