Tysabri insurance coverage

Common Questions and Answers about Tysabri insurance coverage

tysabri

Avatar m tn Hi DH - Welcome to our group. I am currently getting Rituxan (rituxmab) and before this I was on Tysabri. They are the only two DMDs I've been on. I have had good experience with both meds. Tysabri lasted about 20 infusions before it stopped working. The Rituxan seems to be doing the job now. I started Rituxan in November of last year and finished my second round yesterday. I had no adverse reaction of any kind to either med.
559187 tn?1330782856 Everyone with MS is progressing, albeit some faster than others :-) My initial DX was SPMS. I was started on Tysabri right away. I'm not sure what was written on the insurance claim forms, as my Doc's office handled all of that. I do know that Tysabri seems to be keeping the wolf at bay. I have had no relapses since I started.
645390 tn?1338555377 Pre-ex clauses of of that type, Kyle, were supposed to have been outlawed many years ago. That "Certificate of Creditable Coverage" you get if you ever lose a job through which you get health insurance is supposed to be your ticket in to a new plan, within a specified time. (My late wife was a claims analyst for many years, when that was all enacted). In other words, if you've been covered by insurance, you have to be accepted under a new plan, if you join soon enough..
Avatar m tn Medicare part d is drug coverage but don't look for miracles !

1191960 tn?1280074080 m on my third try of IUI, and I noticed that some of you are covered through your insurance. I was just wondering what insurance helps with the cost of treatments, as SAG does not. Thanks for any input!
Avatar f tn I'm 23, married and my parents insurance did cover the costs of my OB bills all I had to pay was the deductible and whatever out of pocket costs that they can make you pay for I think I paid around 3000 all together and the rest was covered but it may be different with different insurances
1394601 tn?1328032308 ), I go on Medicare with my insurance becoming my secondary insurance. It was the year mark so my neuro gave me a dx. It is Progressive Relapsing MS. I half listened but I knew from her voice it wasn't a very nice one to have...So true to my nature, I half listened nodding with "okay's" and "yes I understand". Then I left the office and finally decided to understand it having my husband explain last night. Not satisfied I googled it.
2047903 tn?1330187549 Get the phone numbers you need, and start talking to your insurance, as well as the drug companies. These drugs are prohibitively expensive without insurance coverage (or help from the drug companies themselves). With insurance , it shouldn't be too bad though. May I ask? Do you have a copay for your prescriptions, or do you pay a percentage? There is also a website called "NeedyMeds" , if your situation is bad financially.
572651 tn?1530999357 ve been researching Aetna insurance coverage. This old thread has a lot of great info (thanks, ladies!), but doesn't quite answer all my questions. One of my main concerns is MRI cost, since I will be getting at least one (and maybe more) MRI's to monitor disease progression over the next couple of years (I just started a DMD this past Feb). I found the following Aetna policy doc online regarding coverage of MRI's: http://www.aetna.com/cpb/medical/data/200_299/0236.
2063887 tn?1337829746 My insurance finally approved Tysabri!! Both neuros recommended it, but we've had issues getting approval. My new one was willing to fight for me. I have my first infusion Monday morning. My son graduates on Wednesday so I'm hoping all goes well!
Avatar f tn Wow, what a mess. This is not unusual, however. The special deals offered by Big Pharma very often do not cover anyone whose drug insurance is provided by any level of gov't. Maybe not to anyone whose overall insurance is via gov't--don't know about this one. I am very lucky that although I'm retired, I can get my drug ins. from my previous employer, a state government, just as though I were an active employee.
2015036 tn?1332997788 Yes, DO try to get coverage from Tysabri. I managed by talking to them that I only pay $10 for each infusion. And when I found out how much it costs to get the extra infusion, I'm trying for help with that too. Otherwise I can't do them. And I think Tysabri wants as many people on as possible - so they can track efficacy, side effects etc. So it is in their best interest to keep you on. Good luck!
Avatar f tn My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 6 years. We finally got pregnant (our miracle baby) I'm about 6 weeks and NO insurance. Deadline for coverage was Feb 15th. Any recommendations for insurance or ideas Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hep C is pre-existing condition for any individual policy, however on group insurance it is not. So if you get insurance through a comapny even after being diagnosed you should be okay.
Avatar f tn Call them again and tell them you need insurance coverage immediately due to pregnancy. You can not be denied. Don't let them send you in circles!
1284791 tn?1271994267 As far as I know, IVF is offered only thorugh group insurance coverage. We delayed seeking fertility treatment in order to get our insurance worked out first. My husband and I formed our own husband/wife group (he owns his own business, I went to work for him, he pays employee taxes on me). Our accountant helpd us with the paperwork. After we set all of this up we applied for group coverage. We did this in order to get maternity coverage, which is otherwise unavailble in Texas.
Avatar f tn I read a few of you mentioning in other posts about 100% insurance coverage which sounds great. Based on the insurance I have right now, I pay Upto 3000 out of pocket for my entire pregnancy and after paying 3000 my insurance pays 90% of any additional expense after that. So my question is, which insurance covers 100% of pregnancy cost. Thank you.
443006 tn?1229201842 Has anyone had experience with Fibrospect test being denied insurance coverage? I have PERS Blue Cross and my insurance is refusing to cover the test, saying it was not medically necessary or appropriate. I am a G-2b and did not have a biopsy since I had planned on being treated regardless of stage of liver damage. I've been fighting with my insurance about this for six months. Any suggestions from anyone?
Avatar m tn Insurance Coverage For Emerging Therapies in the Treatment of Hepatitis C Virus PRNewswire/ -- HealthLeaders-InterStudy and Fingertip Formulary find that only about half (53 percent) of surveyed pharmacy directors expect their health plans to cover both Merck's boceprevir and Vertex/Johnson & Johnson/Mitsubishi Tanabe's telaprevir, when they enter the market for the treatment of the hepatitis C virus.
