operation

595144 tn?1219229276 I feel concerned about waiting, especially for several years, as I feel each year poses a small percentage risk which all adds up I am wondering if anyone has just bound the OUTSIDE of the aorta with the material well sealed at each end. This would seem to be a simpler and much safer operation not requiring stopping of the heart. It would help prevent the aorta expanding and, even if it did dissect, the binding would retain the blood thus preventing possible death.
990631 tn?1274218213 My question is should i be concerned with the findings of the 50 % blockage from a stent that was just put in on march and the heart cath warrants further testing of a 3 D echo ? i have had 2 different open heart surgeries in the past and several stents since then.
Avatar m tn larryjphotos I believe the Cardiologist is saying that he is unable to get the catheter through previous interventions because of the amount of scar tissue which has formed. With Plaque, there are some very good Cardiologists out there who have developed amazing skills with available tools. They can chip away at the plaque and capture large pieces, like digging a tunnel through the hard layer until they reach softer material.
584162 tn?1291731694 I have recently had VATS lung surgery (no cancer, thank heaven), but in the initial consultation with the thoracic surgeon, he asked me if I had a cardiologist. I was kind of surprised at the question, but said no. He said with my family history of heart disease (on my mother's side including my mother), that I should make an appointment with one to have him evaluate whether my blood pressure medication is appropriate considering my risk factors.
328381 tn?1269364102 had a heart attack 3 yrs ago and had 5 stents put in 1 of them in my lad is to hold open a stent that wouldnt stay open. i have since had 2 more stents put in to relieve chest pain 8 months ago. while in there my cardiologist told me the other stents were 45% blocked. i am now experiencing mild chest pain when at work when doing digging or other hard work.
Avatar f tn His INR was not monitored for 2 days (1 of those a surgery day, and reading the following days INR of 8.7 was likely to be out of the theraputic range). He subsequently was given vit K and INR came down to 1.5 at which time a needle biopsy was performed. His kidney unfortunately bled out and is now non-functioning. It showed type 4 lupus nephritis. His right kidney is also impaired with a creatinine sitting around 240.
Avatar n tn I have a blockage somewhere in the area of the heart { lower descending anterior coronary artery region } I am an afib patient with high blood pressure, hypertension, diabetic, thyroid and bleeding from the rectum because of hemoroids and have recently failed my stress test and ordered to have an anteriogram in the stent room just in case... I also have a low blood count.
Avatar n tn I have been unable to sleep laying down now without severe angina inspire of the three new stents. Heart is getting about 50 percent blood. I don't wear my patch at night because I need it in the daytime and you are only supposed to wear for 12 hours max per day. So now I am sleeping sitting up and it is really difficult but cures the severe and scary angina at night. I was losing sleep and spraying every night. Really scary stuff.
Avatar f tn DES is Boston Scientic, a manufacturer of stents who has 40% of the market. Financial statements showed a reduction of DES sales and increase in BMS. This observation was made a year or so ago! The new DES you are referring to is a stent that is coated with a substance that works for a shorter period of time, 3 months, as opposed to 1 year or so with the older type coated Des.
Avatar n tn There are a number of reasons to have leg cramps and different types of leg cramps. I dont think the development of cramps in the legs would have any relationship to stents in the blood vessels of the heart. If there is any relationship beyond coincidence, perhaps it is that medications like diuretics to treat hypertension and heart disease can cause dehydration and electrolyte disturbances which can predispose one to night time cramps.
Avatar f tn Thank you Ed. There was no intervention at all, no stents or any other kind of surgery. Yes, they did prescribe anticoagulants. As far as I know liver and kidney function were fine. I will ask him that question again to be sure though.
Avatar m tn Can the stents be put in bypass grafts? what is the course of action when stents collapse?
595144 tn?1219229276 I had a heart attack two months ago with two stents being necessary. At the time it was found that a heart mumur indicated minor regurgitation due to a biscuspid valve. Further tests showed a dilated ascending aorta measuring 49mm. On seeing a heart surgeon today he suggested just watching the dilation and checking each 6 months. He seemed inclined not to use a metal valve and wanted to delay the inevitable operation.
Avatar n tn I have had two pyleoplasty operations by neith seems to have worked. Today is my fourth day with a swollen right kidney, chronic pain in my left back and flank, and the inability to sleep, drink or eat. I've had these attacks many times before and they usually resolved themselves within 12-24 hours. This one doesn't seem to be going away and I'm looking for help!
1603923 tn?1297767967 Triple vessel Disease 1- Significant stenosis of ostium of the proximal left anterior descending coronary artery(more than 20mm arterylong ,high grade (70-90%) 2-significant stenosis of the ostium of the proximal circumflex coronary artery.(10-20mm ,70-90%) (Type B2 stenosis) 3-Oclusion(10-20mm) of the proximal right coronary artery.
Avatar f tn There are different types of stents, bare metal stents (BMS) and drug eluting stents (DES). There are two problems with stents, stenosis and clotting. Stenosis is usually formed by scar tissue formed in the artery when it tries to repair itself, but scar tissue grows very quickly and a bit out of control, forming a partial or high level blockage. The DES drug coating prevents this, it inhibits the growth of scar tissue and only allows the regrowth of normal healthy artery tissue.
Avatar m tn ing pain again the cath this time showed an occluded LIMA to the LAD and the Cicumflex marginal had a 60-70% lesion, diagonal of the LAD has 60% ostial disease, 55% stenosis in the LAD between the 2 stents, and the right coranary had 35% stenosis. I am on 20 mg of Crestor. I have been having chest pain again even fainting spells, but my cardiologist has'nt done another cath. The Dr.
Avatar f tn How much time has passed after placement of your stents? It can take some time for your heart to recover from the period of ischemia. Also, some anti-coagulation medication that you are taking now, can cause shortness of breath. Slowly building up your ability to exercise during weeks/months after the placement of the stents can show remarkable improvements.
Avatar f tn my husband has had several stents in but he has this spot on his back tat inches really bad he wants me to constantly scratch it I was wondering if one of his stents he could be allergic to and he also breaks out alot and iches all over his body some days of the week please let me know thanks should he see his cardiologist
Avatar f tn The stents themselves aren't affected by alcohol that I know of, I've not received warnings during my history of receiving stents. However, some heart medications warn about the use of alcohol. I'd certainly pose your question to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I exercise by walking hills, have had a number of stents and angiograms, and will tell you from my experience a cold wind is my enemy. The combination of the cold and the exertion almost always causes me to have angina symptoms. I now avoid that kind of stress. Does the angina dissapate when he takes a nitro pill? Hopefully he does when he feels the angina. What Beta Blocker is he taking? Also, congratulate him on his weight loss.
Avatar n tn Many sufferers dramatically reduce their levels of activity in the mistaken belief that that will reduce their risk of heart attack. In fact, on the contrary, in doing that, they increase the risk and, at the same time, their quality of life diminishes. People with refractory angina become frequent attendees at GP surgeries, undergo multiple emergency admissions to hospital and suffer exacerbated chest pain. Many patients and careers live in an unfounded perpetual fear of sudden death".
Avatar n tn You should be on plavix for a minimum of 12 months. Are you not on a beta blocker to stop the effects of stress on your heart from such emotions as anger?
