Avatar f tn 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) is a synthetic drug that alters mood and perception (awareness of surrounding objects and conditions). It is chemically similar to both stimulants and hallucinogens, producing feelings of increased energy, pleasure, emotional warmth, and distorted sensory and time perception.

Avatar f tn I was afraid of that :( Thank you!
Avatar f tn Is it bad or not recommended to take anything that effects the CNS? Are CNS depressants and stimulants bad for us to take?
Avatar f tn I wanted to add 11 yrs ago it wasn't perscription drugs I quit I hope this isn't a new addiction
Avatar f tn Even though that sounds like the side effects are from a stimulant, they are completely the opposite they are downers, central nervous system depressants. in too high of doses they will cause enough respiratory depression to where you stop breathing and then OD. both opiates and stimulants are extremely addictive , but opiates have severe physical wds along with mental where stimulants generally only have the mental aspect of wds.
1211960 tn?1272974502 Thanks for your comment. I am very aware of the side effects of these medications. I have also done research on these kinds of medication and learned that they have been using them since the 1930's and over 1 million pills were given to the soliders in World War 1. I also know that these medications can be neuro toxic meaning they can deplete your brain chemistry and fry your brain. I just have never heard of it dialating pupils.
Avatar f tn If he continues down this path, he might not live to see 40. These combo of drugs is bad bad bad. I hope he goes to see a dr and also gets the help he needs with rehab etc, there is help out there. As far as the crystal meth goes, that is one of the most addictive drugs and many don't come back from it. I am glad you want to help him, but he has to want to help himself, first and foremost. Keep us updated and I wish you both the best. Please take care of yourself.
Avatar n tn For PMDD, the treatment is with anti-depressants which are a big no-no for those with bipolar disorder. Since the symptoms of bipolar and PMDD seem so similar, why are anti-depressants the choice of treatment rather than mood stabilizers?
Avatar n tn Multiple sclerosis is another thing that should be seriously considered. So also depression. In depression ante-depressants of all types do not help, hence you need to consult the doctor for a change in prescription to see what suits you. Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Drug themselves into stage one sleep (and likely drugging themselves against stage 3). Or they take stimulants during the day. Or both! Depressants at night and stimulants in the morning. Consider this incongruity: Caffeine is the only socially celebrated addiction. Drugs just modify normal body chemistry. Far fewer people have "defective" bodies than the more common problem: lifestyle and culture are ruining sleep and sanity.
348629 tn?1212325673 s especially to people who have abused pain pills or other types of drugs in the past or currently,, you really have to talk with your doc and tell the truth of everything you have and are taking. Anti-depressents will not take the though of pills away but wil help some of the emotional problems that could have caused you to start taking the pills in the first place if thats your case. Always be truthful with your doc because there are other methods of curbing pill sick syndrome.
Avatar m tn As for drugs there are a few, however, you should consult your doctor, before taking any of them and secondly they are prescription drugs, which have an ability to decrease libido not as desired effect but more as a side-effect. Regards, John.
5452968 tn?1368196243 I've always had a problem with my heart racing but normally it takes about a half hour to stop or at least slow down to a managable rate. But I'm 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant as of today and last night I woke up to my heart racing and pounding so badly you could see it thumping in my chest and against my clothes. I didn't start to even slow down until an hour later and a full two hours later I was finally able to go back to sleep.
Avatar n tn im 19 years old and I've been on xanax the .5 ones but im not sure for about 4 months. i got prescribed them because i went to my doctor complaining of panic attacks, hyper ventilation, and chest pains. well i'm out of pills and i'm not sure but i think im going through withdrawals. first day it was pretty easy but after i woke up the next morning my whole body ached i had a massive head ache and i was extremely depressed.
Avatar m tn m not a Dr. either. I do know that they can help you greatly! And when coming off of them, you can have some types of withdrawal effects. Anti-depressants also come with side effects as you take them too... but those side effects usually leave after 2-3 weeks. And remember, not everyone has side effects or withdrawal effects. We are all wired differently. =) And the most common side effect with an anti-depressant is a "sexual" side effect. Don't be scared of what your Dr.
Avatar m tn s why they do the trials. However, the drugs generally outperform placebo by enough of a percentage to get approval, and placebo effects generally wear off while drugs keep working. Some people also get worse side effects from placebo than from the real drug, just showing how complex the human brain is. Opiates would be a bad choice for depression, as they cause depression in many people because they're a downer drug. Benzos can do the same thing if you take them too often.
Avatar f tn Seems like I caught my husband's cold :-(
Avatar n tn I have taken dozens of different types of anti-depressants in the last 18 years and only two did not give me any sexual side effects. Remeron and Welbutrin. Only two problems with them. Remeron WILL absolutly make you gain weight. It makes Paxil look like a diet pill. Remeron works ok, but in the long term I found it not to be as effective as I had hoped. As for Welbutrin. Some people say that with Welbutrin alone that they have eliminated their depression and anxiety.
Avatar m tn Sometimes these drugs are prescribed if you are having headaches and tremors following head injury. These drugs are not stimulants. Infact they depress the high stimulant activity of the brain. Please discuss with the neurologist before starting these, its benefit in your case and the adverse events you are likely to face while on these drugs. The effect may vary depending on the type and extent of head injury. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I also wanted a more natural route of treatment I have not even turned 25 yet.
Avatar n tn Hi all. Day 40 clean from about 160 mgs of oxycontin daily. Finally went to Doctor and he gave me a 3 week supply of Cymbalta. I could no longer deal with the depression caused by quitting the Oxy. Can anyone tell me about any experience with Cymbalta. I have never taken anti depressants before. Apparently takes a week or two to work.

Avatar m tn So first off to make things clear I am honestly about 90% wanting to stop all drug use but that 10% part of me still loves them... Iv been forced stimulants and asorted amphetamines, anti depressants since six years old due to my ADHD and depression..
