Avatar n tn Does anyone else have type 2 diabetes with pregnancy? I'm not eating a ton of carbs but my numbers are still on the high side.
Avatar m tn I have type 2 diabetes and it *****. Any idea how I can get over my crazy chocolate cravings?
Avatar f tn I am sure I am going to get a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes this week. My blood glucose this AM when I woke up was 200. It's been running about 125-130 all week. I also get some pretty low numbers during the day and start to feel weak and jittery. I'd just like to see what the diet looks like before I go in to see my doctor. Thanks.
Avatar f tn The most common types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2. Which type are you? Basically, Type 1 diabetes are hereditary, genetically transmitted from parents to offspring. Normal treatment would be a daily doze of insulin. Type 2 on the other hand, is more on lifestyle (sedentary - without regular exercise), eating habit or being overweight, etc. Normal treatment would be regular exercise, well balance diet with some minor medication as prescribe by a doctor.
Avatar n tn a normal person does not get complications like going blind or loosing toes/feet/legs a normal person never has BG over 120 Joslin Diabetes Center says BG over 136 causes damage that leads to complications. So a lot of people restrict carbohydrates so there BG does not go over 140 some chose 120 some chose 180 (ADA limit).
Avatar n tn I have been told I'm am pre-diabetic but type 2 diabetes is written in my health records. I just got a new meter (OneTiych). My previous readings with the "Freestyle " meter were no higher than 110. Most readings stayed in the 90's.
Avatar n tn Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
Avatar f tn I had to do a urine sample and put it in the car glovebox to drop it in, i have type 2 diabetes, so yeah its a week later and I forgot to drop it in got it out and it now has red bits floating around, what could these be ?
Avatar n tn Given your weight, diet and history you may be adult onset type 1 (research LADA) rather than type 2. Treatment for this is insulin rather than oral meds, usually. Your fasting no. are reasonable now, but your after eating is still too high. Yes, exercise and low carb eating are very helpful in controlling blood sugars and minimising med requirements. Hope this helps.

Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I feel that everyone feels I am so obsessed with my son and his diabetes. We almost lost him when he was 2 1/2. had got bacterial menegitus and almost did not make it thru that. Now he's developed Type 1 diabetes. So yes I am obsessed when it comes to him. I too will not let him sleep over or have anyone to care for him. He has gone low several time while being asleep and has had about 4 seizures.
279230 tn?1259923903 Thanks everyone! Skylynns_mom - They gave me a sample menu to look at, but that's pretty much all of the info that they gave me. If you have any other info, that would be great!
Avatar n tn I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.

Avatar n tn CLBear, You might enjoy a diabetes discussion board that's got topics for Type 2s and Type 1s and for the stuff we share. I highly recommend this site: http://chat.joslin.harvard.edu:8080/~diabetes You don't need to register to read the information there, but you may need to register to post (it's free, tho'). Folks who post can choose to be anonymous.
