I'm guessing that s/he is not a diabetes specialist and that's the type of physician who should be guiding your diabetes care. Specialists might be called endocrinologist or diabetologist. None of us here is a physician, but we're long-time diabetics or care-givers for diabetic children. You didn't mention if you've been diagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2, and the treatment options vary for these types.
Avatar n tn I am a 38yr old female (American living in Australia) and have just received a probable diagnosis of diabetes and am currently undergoing tests to determine type 1 or type II. I am an active person, slender and have relatively good eating habits and what I've been told "an atypical case" for diabetes. But I have recently begun losing weight unintentionally. I have quite a healthy appetite and I do have a biological family member who has Type II.

The doctor checked my sugar levels through urine and then she told the medical assistant to do it with blood. While I was in the room with the medical assistant, she told me the doctor want her to check my blood because I have high glucose levels in my urine. She said I could be pre- diabetic and etc. So when the doctor came in she said your blood is good.

The other causes could be a cervical disc spondylosis, disc herniation, disc degeneration compressing the exiting nerve roots.

Both diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus fall into this realm but both are separate mechanisms. This forum deals mostly with type 2 diabetes, people who have high blood sugar levels [mellitus]. Other possibilities are diabetes insipidus, glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis(inflammation of the kidneys),urinary tract infection, hypercalcemia, hypokalemia(low potassium),hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, diuretic drugs and benign hyperplasia of the prostate(in males).

Only retinopathy and peripheral neuropathy were associated with sclerosing lymphocytic lobulitis. Breast carcinoma or lymphoma did not occur subsequently in any type 1 diabetes patient with or without sclerosing lymphocytic lobulitis. CONCLUSIONS: Sclerosing lymphocytic lobulitis is strongly associated with type 1 diabetes. Retinopathy and neuropathy are associated with the disorder.

I went through them myself and realized there was no point. When I was first diagnosed I was 11 and was very self concious about my diabetes. I couldn't even say the word diabetes for almost 2 yrs. i also didn't want anyone to know what i had to do as far as shots were concerned.
