s gonna be like that untill someone extraordinary finds a way to completely fix type 2. Type 1 will never be fixed, but one day we may understand why it happens and will be preventable. For now it's either drastically lowering the consumption of carbs, or the drugs. There's no inbetween.

Hi. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is different from type 1 diabetes, which isn't reversible. Type 2 can generally be reversed by changing your diet and getting plenty of exercise. The reason is that type 2 is caused by the body not being able to absorb or use the insulin it creates.

For this reason Type 1 is considered more serious but both are treatable and controlable so that the person may live a relatively or almost completely normal life. It is always possible to go from Type 2 diabtes to Type 1 Diabetes but never the reverse. Many times a Type 2 Diabetic will be treated as a Type 1 (on the same medications etc) but will not actually BE a Type 1. Reason being the treatments for a Type 1 are also effective on a Type 2 if that severity of treatment is needed.

Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.

Hi all, Can somebody help me by suggesting the ways to prevent children from developing diabetes. Especially, if the family has the heredity of Type 2 diabetes. Anybody there to share the facts and truth of the having grown up children without diabetes though parents have it and though its present in heredity. Thanks!

I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.

Hello everyone..I have been Type 2 Diabetic for 19 months now and I am on a few Medications such as..Humalog 50-25 units 3 times per day and Byetta 10 unitis 2 times per day and Metformin 2 times per day and Atrovastatin once per day..when I was diagnosed I weighed 120kg now I weigh 154kg, I have been in Terrible pain over the past year..

Keep it simple. Cure for type 2 diabetes is Eat less, exercise more. Watch the scale and eat healthy whole foods.

I had type 2 diabetes before I got pregnant. I'm 8 weeks and I inject insulin twice a day. They said if I don't control my levels my baby will be too overweight . any suggestions besides eating right and exercising? Is anyone else experiencing this?

a 68 year old person with type 2 diabetes has pneumonia. she is lethargic with a headache. blood pressure 104/72. heart rate 118/min. respirations 30/min. flushed and feels warm and dry. urine output is over 800ml in the morning. glucose is 310 mg/dl. what is happening with this woman??
