I am hopefully going to start treatment AGAIN for tussionex withdrawal and treatment. Pray for me. Any suggestions or any other people out there like me? I am so alone.
I have a bottle of Tussionex since the last time i was pretty sick. It was filled may 15 2008 and Im not sure what the expiration date is on it. would it be fine to take?
Had all the allergy shots available on the planet (allergies to dust/dust mites) and today, I read about Tussionex. I control my blood pressure very well with Adalat once a day. I'll be seeing my GP on April 8. I pray that Tussionex (taken only 8 hours or 12 hours prior to my show/s as opposed to taking the narcotic regularly - that's scary) would be permissible for me even when taking Adalat.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Last night and today, I have relapsed yet again on Tussionex. For the past two weeks, I have felt nothing but excruciating pain in my heart from so many losses. My divorce, my ex boyfriend and my recent ex boyfriend. Then, I used last night. I took a tablespoon of the tussionex and I felt numb. I felt happy. I felt like I didn't want to kill myself. So I took two teaspoons today. The pain is still nagging at the back of my head.
My addiction started around 1 1/2 to 2 years ago when I had a chronic cough and was given Tussionex - wow how I loved that stuff. It totally stopped my coughing and made you feel great. I took that stuff for heck months...until I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back - well as luck would have it I was prescribed Vicodin with has the same crap in it as the cough medicine Tussionex had. Well long story short I have finally come to my senses and gave it all up. I can do it...
For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
im am addicted to this and hycodan at the same timw for about 3 years i take about a 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of tussionex a day i have drank 3 and 4 ounces in a day many times with ease thought and put any where from 2 tsp to a whole ounce in sprit and i never dont have a cup i also take klodipin i take 2 to 4 mgs a day and take at least 100mg of lortab about ten 10mgs a day but sometimes it does reach up to 20 tens a day plus the cough syrups how bad is my withdrawl for the codiene going to be i
Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.
I was also given a three day regiment of azithromicin (zythromax) and Tussionex to control the cough. I was also given a DuoNeb. None of which seemed to work. After checking in with my primary care, i was given a flovent inhaler, to no avail. Following that, i was put on 80mg of prednisone, down to 60, then weaned off.
The person is experiencing insomnia (even though Ambien is supposed to keep you asleep for 7-8 hours), wakes up several times per night, is restless, seems to be experiencing some sort of mental confusion during the day, etc. Also, although the cough syrup (Pennkinetic) was optional, they now regularly use it (and if it is not given to them, actually ask to have it).
Thank you for your response. The rx was Tussionex, a hydrocodone based cough syrup. I got the rx filled 4 times between 4 doctors. I did this over a course of 1 month (started in January and got caught yesterday) I had a total of 6 rx (2 I tried to get filled in a matter of one week) the reason I tried to do 2 in one week is bc my dr wrote me a script on Tuesday (this dr had already written me a script two weeks prior). I went to the pharmacy to try to get it filled.
If you prove not to have asthma, aren’t smoking and didn’t have whooping cough,you should contact your doctor and request a prescription for a strong cough suppressant You could try an over-the-counter cough suppressant with “DM” and if that doesn’t provide relief of the cough, then call or visit your doctor to make sure that nothing more serious is causing your cough (you may need a chest X-ray to do that) and get a stronger cough preparation such as Tussionex.
I know addiction is bad no matter what but would that be concidered very high??Thank you all so much for the information and support. Im still terrified but you are making me feel like tomorrow (my day 1) will be "surviveable"....And I can do it because I have you all to help me through it.

It seems to happen mostly when he has a cold. Due to high blood pressure and that medication, he is limited in what cold medicines he can take. It has happened twice in the past two weeks. Me st recently at Christmas with the entire family as witness.
I'm a fairly healthy 21 yr old(except for cervical displaysia that Ive had for 2yrs, not caused by HPV) but lately I've been so paranoid about having HIV that I go into random crying spells where I am begging and pleading to any "being, god or creature" that will here me, swearing to change my life if I come back negative next week(I was tested today). The thing is I'm not a careless person but the past few months I have "bed hopped" from a few men.
After having an endoscopy and going to several gastroenterologist and ENT specialists I found that the only drug that helps is Tussionex which is a narcotic that combines Hydrocodone and Chlorpheniramine. The problem is ofcourse that no doctor will give that on a daily bases for the rest of my life. If anybody know about any other any other non addicting drugs that may be related or not to Hydro that would give the same relief?
t condemned or anything - my allergy was just high enough to warrant changing schools. And some of the other teachers and students who had mold allergies were able to put two and two together as well, and get some help.
I'm wondering about his other symptoms -- is he having chest pain at all that is different from the asthma, or just sore from coughing?
I think I will also try the Mucinex to see if that helps. I do get some relief from taking Tussionex cough syrup. Kind of strange but opiates tend to thin the mucus production and it seems to numb my throat where I don't feel the PND or whatever it might be.
Over the counter meds do nothing. My doctor gave me cough syrup (Tussionex) that seems to have losened everything up. I'm also on Benzonatate. It all seems to be helping, but now my nose has a constant feeling of needing to sneeze. I should not have driven myself to the doctor. It was that bad. My head was pounding, I was getting dizzy, and I felt like I was going to pass out at any minute. I can only wonder if this is a severe allergy because it only happens in the winter.
That is, until here in the Memphis area, Tussionex ext-released cough syrup became very popular. I was totally against using it. I called anyone that used it stupid. Then one day a friend of mine that waz using it told me that he can't ejaculate when he's gotten high off of it. That one comment changed my whole outlook. This could end my p.e. suffering? So, in 1999, at age 23, I tried it.
