Common Questions and Answers about Tussionex no prescription

tussionex

Avatar f tn I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
Avatar n tn sober 20+ years in 12 step program. Take Tussionex for chronic cough, 1 tsp. per day. I don't abuse it by taking more. But, if I don't take it every day I start to feel like I am getting the flu. Is that withdrawal, just the level in my blood is dropping off after 24 hours? Would appreciate anyone's input, especially if you have experience. Thanks and bless you all. One day at a time, because that's all we've got.
636562 tn?1223667445 I recently had a bad reaction to Tussionex Suspension and had to go to the ER. I agree with the doctor that I had a reaction to the Tussionex, but I'm wondering why it affected me so long after I initially took it (I didn't have any symptoms for the first 7-8 hours). I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I thought a pharmacist would be the best one to answer my question. How do extended release medications work?
286124 tn?1214938528 wow!!! now thats a word i havent heard of in years, tussionex... what do you mean "back you up?
Avatar f tn I am hopefully going to start treatment AGAIN for tussionex withdrawal and treatment. Pray for me. Any suggestions or any other people out there like me? I am so alone.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know anything about this cough syrup.?it is supposedly time released and I don't how that works. What is the deal with this stuff everyone says it's very dangerous but no one says why.
Avatar n tn Had all the allergy shots available on the planet (allergies to dust/dust mites) and today, I read about Tussionex. I control my blood pressure very well with Adalat once a day. I'll be seeing my GP on April 8. I pray that Tussionex (taken only 8 hours or 12 hours prior to my show/s as opposed to taking the narcotic regularly - that's scary) would be permissible for me even when taking Adalat.
1003776 tn?1360197582 So the tussionex was prescribed again and again and again, hoping that after many tests, the problem would be solved and she could come off the tussionex. But lo and behold no problem could be found for that fair maiden and she remained on the tussionex for many, many months. She started taking this med according to the instructions, 1 pill every 12 hours, not to exceed 2 in 24 hours or the consequences could be grave indeed.
Avatar n tn I have a bottle of Tussionex since the last time i was pretty sick. It was filled may 15 2008 and Im not sure what the expiration date is on it. would it be fine to take?
Avatar n tn No, there is no type of antibiotic in it. It has narcotic in it (hydrocodone) and the antihistamine. You can google it for more info...but the info above is what I've read about it as well.
Avatar f tn hello, i have always been allergic to acetaminophen( swelling with rashes all over body)..recently was diagnosed with ITP( thrombocytopenia)adviced to stop all NSAID's forever.ineed a D&C with hysteroscopy( for a possible polyp) with twilight anesthesia..yet to be scheduled..my gyn not called yet..what options do i have? i'm scared they would put me thru local anesthesia now b'coz of all this..my pain tolerance is almost zero..
Avatar n tn If you prove not to have asthma, aren’t smoking and didn’t have whooping cough, you should contact your doctor and request a prescription for a strong cough suppressant You could try an over-the-counter cough suppressant with “DM” and if that doesn’t provide relief of the cough, then call or visit your doctor to make sure that nothing more serious is causing your cough (you may need a chest X-ray to do that) and get a stronger cough preparation such as Tussionex.
Avatar f tn Last night and today, I have relapsed yet again on Tussionex. For the past two weeks, I have felt nothing but excruciating pain in my heart from so many losses. My divorce, my ex boyfriend and my recent ex boyfriend. Then, I used last night. I took a tablespoon of the tussionex and I felt numb. I felt happy. I felt like I didn't want to kill myself. So I took two teaspoons today. The pain is still nagging at the back of my head.
Avatar n tn im am addicted to this and hycodan at the same timw for about 3 years i take about a 1 1/2 to 2 ounces of tussionex a day i have drank 3 and 4 ounces in a day many times with ease thought and put any where from 2 tsp to a whole ounce in sprit and i never dont have a cup i also take klodipin i take 2 to 4 mgs a day and take at least 100mg of lortab about ten 10mgs a day but sometimes it does reach up to 20 tens a day plus the cough syrups how bad is my withdrawl for the codiene going to be i
Avatar f tn My addiction started around 1 1/2 to 2 years ago when I had a chronic cough and was given Tussionex - wow how I loved that stuff. It totally stopped my coughing and made you feel great. I took that stuff for heck months...until I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back - well as luck would have it I was prescribed Vicodin with has the same crap in it as the cough medicine Tussionex had. Well long story short I have finally come to my senses and gave it all up. I can do it...
Avatar n tn ve been given every cough suppressant from tussionex to robotussin with codine, to no avail. The cough only stops for a few hours once i'm so exhausted that i fall asleep for a few hours. I've had a CT (for elevated DDimer) and a chest xray within the past week, both clean. I'm now to the point where my normal breaths wheeze on the way in and out, and even if i try to breath through my nose, i still make wheezing. I'm clear so far as pertussis.
Avatar n tn For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Avatar f tn ive been presribed vicodin and tussionex alot lately? it was a miracle i got pregnant, because of my past with cervical cancer surgerys i have an incompitent cervix.in less than 5 days they are taking my cervical cerclage out and i may go into labor. will the hydrocodone be in the babys system and can they take my baby if it was prescribed?
Avatar f tn You already were willing to take pretty big risks (you seem to have known that what you were doing was a big no no) to get the hydrocodone, which is a trademark sign of addiction. People struggling with addiction will often do all sorts of things they never imagined to obtain their DOC. Keep talking to us. Try not to get too overwhelmed thinking the worst. I know that's easier said than done.
Avatar m tn Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.
Avatar f tn because my daughter and I were standing right in front of him, leaning over him, we probably looked like we just saw a ghost. I see on here alot of people asking the same questions and NO ONE has any answers...that is just lovely! I FEAR this is how my husband is going die right in front of me. And yes he is a smoker, but he is a healthy 55 yr old and only weighs 175-180 lbs. I am scared and apparently, I will get him to the Dr's just to be told...what? NOTHING!!!!
Avatar f tn Can my doctor refuse to fill my prescription for diabetes unless I get the covid test? Is this legal?
Avatar m tn No, don't do any of the above! Narcotics are to be filled 30 days after your last refill. It does not matter if your doctor gave you a new script you must wait. Why would you need to refill early? you stated you have some left.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear your doctor is being so dismissive of you. Tussionex works great; I've had it for bronchitis and pneumonia in the past. I'm thinking maybe your doctor should have seen you again and at the very least listened to your lungs again. I've never had pleurisy but my mom used to get it and I know the pain from it can be severe. Since you probably can't be seen by your doctor until Monday, is there an Urgent Care you could be seen at?
1967424 tn?1325633780 Sure, I knew I could have I could have probably taken a couple without her even knowing it but I had no desire at all. I have even opened the bottle, put one in my hand, poured her a glass of water and taken them to her when she was too sore to get out of bed. I know I'm kinda playing with fire but it makes me sick to even think about taking one. I honestly almost gag. I've come too far to throw it all away.
Avatar n tn They can only be prescribed by a written script (no phone ins, no faxes) and they MUST be PRINTED. There is NO refills given on a Schedule II drug. It requires a visit to the Dr. monthly. Schedule III Opiates are: Vicodin, Vicoprofen, Tussionex, etc... and thay may be called in or faxed in to a Pharmacy and can have up to 6 refills.
Avatar f tn I know being on Vicodin for 6 years is wrong, but my pain is chronic and my doc recently dropped me from 4 pills a day 10mg/650 to 2 pills a day I realize he will soon be cutting me off because of new Vicodin laws in New York and a script can no longer be refilled , vicodin can only be taken for no longer than 90 days says the new law, anyway I am struggling on the tapper to a 1/2 a pill every eight hours my pain is so intense Will my body adjust to 1/2 pills every eight hours in time, I wan
