You should ask your pharmacist. I don't know how much hydrocodone Tussionex has in it, but I wouldn't take both of them. Both medications contain hydrocodone, which you probably already know. That is a very strong narcotic and not one you want to OD on. You can take as much as 10 mg of hydrocodone at a time. That could leave yoy feeling quite out of it though if it is too much for your system. I would probably wait 6 hours from the lortab to take the tussionex.

This cough syrup combines an anti-histamine (chlorpheniramine) with a codeine-like cough suppressant called hydrocodone. Tussionex stops coughing well, but it carries a risk of potential side effects, including drowsiness, constipation, lightheadedness, and vomiting. The hydrocodone component is also an addictive medication and should be used with caution.
Each teaspoonful (5 mL) of TUSSIONEX (hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine) Pennkinetic Extended-Release Suspension contains hydrocodone polistirex equivalent to 10 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine polistirex equivalent to 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate. TUSSIONEX (hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine) Pennkinetic Extended- Release Suspension provides up to 12-hour relief per dose. Hydrocodone is a centrally-acting narcotic antitussive. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine.
Well, tussionex is part hydrocodone which is a semi-synthetic opioid and part chlorpheniramine which is a type of antihistamine. So some people can be more sensitive to the hydrocodone (vicadin) part of the cough syrup. It is a fairly addictive drug and some people have genetics (an enzyme called cpy 2d6) that increases the duration the hydrocodone is elevated in their blood. This leads to exaggerated effects or feeling of euphora and other symptoms.
The diagnosis, establishment of cause and the treatment of chronic cough can be most difficult. Tussionex® (hydrocodone bitartrate and chlorpheniramine maleate) is a potent cough-suppressant. There is no significant drug interaction between it and the Adalat® (nifedipine). Your concern about the use of a narcotic is appropriate. This is an addictive narcotic. It suppresses cough but does not address the specific cause of an individual's cough.
For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Jking is correct....and to answer you question again, no, Morphine does not contain Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol) is the generic name for Vicodin, Vicodin ES, Anexsia, Lorcet, Lorcet Plus, Norco.

Your body is known to hypersensitive to quinolones to which levaquin belongs to. Tussionex contains hydrocodone which may also be responsible. But it is difficult to tell, which one is the offending drug.

After having an endoscopy and going to several gastroenterologist and ENT specialists I found that the only drug that helps is Tussionex which is a narcotic that combines Hydrocodone and Chlorpheniramine. The problem is ofcourse that no doctor will give that on a daily bases for the rest of my life. If anybody know about any other any other non addicting drugs that may be related or not to Hydro that would give the same relief?

I have a bottle of Tussionex since the last time i was pretty sick. It was filled may 15 2008 and Im not sure what the expiration date is on it. would it be fine to take?
A lot of factors would determine if someone is charged, and how severely they are charged, including which medication was involved (for example, a schedule 2 narcotic, like Percocet/oxycodone would be treated more seriously than a schedule 3 narcotic like hydrocodone/vicodin), how many scripts were involved and how many pills were Rx'ed (difference between being charged with distribution or not), whether insurance was used or not to pay for the subsequent scripts, if you have any criminal
Last night and today, I have relapsed yet again on Tussionex. For the past two weeks, I have felt nothing but excruciating pain in my heart from so many losses. My divorce, my ex boyfriend and my recent ex boyfriend. Then, I used last night. I took a tablespoon of the tussionex and I felt numb. I felt happy. I felt like I didn't want to kill myself. So I took two teaspoons today. The pain is still nagging at the back of my head.
Then low dose formulations of oxycodone such as Percocet where it only contains 5mgs of oxycodone and 325mgs of tylenol is often prescribed where some doctors feel that its about as potent as a higher dose of hydrocodone like Vicoprofin, tussionex, 10mg Lortabs or Norcos. Then you have strong opiates/opioid. Some are alot stronger than the other one, but are all only prescribed for severe pain and are a lot harder to obtain.
I went out this morning with only two percs which is nowhere close to my usual dose and decided to buy ingredients for thomas recipe.Hope this helps as I am already hurtin for a good dose. This addiction *****!
My addiction started around 1 1/2 to 2 years ago when I had a chronic cough and was given Tussionex - wow how I loved that stuff. It totally stopped my coughing and made you feel great. I took that stuff for heck months...until I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back - well as luck would have it I was prescribed Vicodin with has the same crap in it as the cough medicine Tussionex had. Well long story short I have finally come to my senses and gave it all up. I can do it...
The lowest amount of tylenol that I know of that comes with hydrocodone would be in Norco tablets. They contain 10mg of the hydrocodone and only 325mg of tylenol. Maybe talk to your doctor about switching you to oxycodone instead? Oxycodone comes in tablet form that's just pure oxycodone, it has no tylenol or acetaminophen in it at all. It's stronger than hydrocodone, too, so the 5mg tablet (the smallest one they make) might even work as well for you as the 7.5mg vicodin.
The vicodin (hydrocodone) has acetaminophen as well. I'm not sure about the percoset, I've never had it before. BUT, if it weren't for the hydrocodone, I would not be able to work or get through even a day at home unless I lay curled up on the couch or in bed thanks to FMS and MPS. When I have bouts with extreme MPS in my back however, the pain pills don't help a whole lot. Just take the edge off barely.

If they do a serum testing, they can differentiate between Lortab and Vicoden because of the amount of hydrocodone and the filler ingredients by the levels in your blood, but in a urine test, they can not, unless they do a gas chromotography. The GC breaks it down by the metabolites left in your body and the amounts of each chemical.
If you don't have a valid prescription for either drug, and you are taking both, you will get caught if they use GC testing.
However, in the US, all opiods have another type of pain med with them. For example Lortabs are hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Tylenol-3 - acetamenophin and codeine.
I didn't know that opiods cause the release of histamine. No wonder I itch like crazy when I take them. I just knew that the itching was a side effect.
I wonder if you could use an opiod cough med for pain? I know a lot of people use the pain meds for cough.
The back pain is back and the surgean referred me to PM and gave me the same meds gabapentin and hydrocodone, so I started smoking again otherwise I get sick dont eat, puke bile. PM did a drug test, which I told them about the pot and they said no injections without it but would put me on tramadol due to FDA law.
I was also given a three day regiment of azithromicin (zythromax) and Tussionex to control the cough. I was also given a DuoNeb. None of which seemed to work. After checking in with my primary care, i was given a flovent inhaler, to no avail. Following that, i was put on 80mg of prednisone, down to 60, then weaned off.
