Avatar f tn Secondary headache disorders are due to an underlying problem, there are many many causes but some include medication side effects, systemic illness, nervous system infection, tumors, bleeds in the brain or clots in the veins of the brain, and others. I would suggest you continue following up with your physician to accurately diagnose the etiology of your headache. This will require additional history and examination.
Avatar n tn The vast majority of headaches are not brain tumors. Brain tumors are actually very rare, and headaches can be caused so many different things. Headaches are just one of many symptoms of brain tumors (and they are rarely the sole presenting symptom). Also, in 3-4 years you would have most likely developed other symptoms (or be dead by now) if it were a brain tumor. That said, it might be appropriate to have an mri to help figure out what is going on.
328799 tn?1276565732 In general, brain tumors are one of the less common tumors and it's pretty uncommon for a 17 year old to have a brain tumor.
Avatar m tn First off, despite more people being diagnosed with primary brain tumors, they are still relatively uncommon. A good percentage of people develop brain tumors while fighting another form of cancer such as lung or colon cancer. Also know that a good number of people diagnosed with brain tumors do not present with headaches. I think you should see an ENT because it could be something as simple as an inner ear infection which can cause dizziness and ringing in the ears.
Avatar f tn t know why the thought of a brain tumor doesnt come to any of these doctors. Google says that those are exact brain tumor symptoms and that I should get immediate medical attention blah blah blah. And trust me I do NOT want a brain tumor. Its the most terrible, cruel disease anyone can have. But somehow I'm convinced, because these symptoms are not going away. I finally convinced my doctor to get me a CT scan. So I did and it showed up clear.
Avatar m tn My mother started taking Enbryl in 1998 or 1999, and was diagnosed with a large menengianoma brain tumor, which she had removed in 2003. Since the surgery, she has been on Remidcade. And during the hole time on Celebrex that has had a class action lawsuit. She now is totally disabled, can hardly walk or communicate, in diapers, with nerve damage similiar to MS symptoms. Belive it or not, her doctors still have her on the meds. I getting her off ASAP!
Avatar m tn An MRI with contrast looking for MS would find a brain tumor. That is how mine was found. If no tumors were found 2 years ago, it is highly unlikely that you have one. Have you seen a neurologist? If you are experiencing seizures, you should see a neurologist as soon as possible. The symptoms you describe may be related to seizures.
Avatar f tn Yes, I have thought for a while that I've had a brain tumor or some other neurological disease. I have all these weird symptoms. I get dizzy, feel nauseaus, feel off balance, and I have twitching in every part of my body. I have not had an MRI or any other testing done but my dr seems to think it's anxiety and there is no need for testing. I also went to the er last week because of these symptoms and they told me I was perfectly fine.
Avatar n tn However, when pain worsens or affects vision or mental alertness, a slow-growing tumor should be considered. Head pain from brain tumors is often described as deep, steady, aching, or dull, but rarely cause throbbing headaches. The sudden development of sharp intense head pain with no previous history of headaches increases the possibility of a brain tumor. If head pains do not resolve with over-the-counter medications, it might be best to see a neurologist for evaluation.
Avatar m tn For those of us who ultimately fear a brain tumor when our eyes get whacky, what the typical red flag symptoms for such a thing? Which visual symptoms make you send the patient straight for an MRI of the brain?
765439 tn?1292960414 sorry but the tumor you have is where? symptoms, what type?
Avatar f tn Headaches front and back, dizziness, passed out, tremendous right facial pain and right eye pain. Neck pain. Then separate neck pain when having the eye pain and facial pain. Slurring of speech at times. Clear watery drainage out my nose when bending over or leaning over - this is not mucous - I know the difference, having chronic sinus problems. I know when I have sinus problems. I have gotten used to knowing when and when not. I also have ct scans to find out when and when not.
Avatar n tn I need help. I've been experiencing several symptoms: First, for the past several months I've had pressure behind my right eye Second, Ive had a pulse in my right ear for a few weeks. Finally, for the past week over been experiencing stabbing pains in my head, I don't have a history of headaches nor migraines, and I've never experienced these stabbing pains before this past week. On 8.29 I had nitrous for the removal of a large tattoo on my back.
Avatar f tn You may be having some mini-stroke activity (though they should check for brain tumor and think about migraines as well with those symptoms)- this is something you should be very concerned about and not wait around because you have no insurance. Call a triage nurse and find out where they think you should be seen. While you're at the medical facility, you or a loved one talk with them about applying for medical financial aid, making a payment plan, etc.

Avatar m tn Brain Tumors are more common the older you get- and primary brain tumors are much less common than secondary brain tumors. Do you have any other symptoms like nausea/vomitting, vision problems, speech problems? Sounds like to me your neck is out of alignment- you might want to think about visiting a chiropractor. If your neck is out of wack it can cause symptoms similar to what you are experiencing.
Avatar m tn Brain tumors will most likely include neurological symptoms such as uneven pupil dilatation, no reactions to light from pupils (uni or bilateral) and impairments of cognitive functions such as speech and vision. What could make you sure you don't have a brain tumor is a CT-Scan of the brain. That would also rule out any sings of lesions. When it comes to neuroimaging it's good to know that CT-Scan is not the best way to go as it exposes you to useless radiations.
671285 tn?1292660161 I posted a similar question in the Neurology sight and I have yet to get a responese. I will keep my eye on your post. I had three MRI's and two CT's which brought back no resluts for brain tumors. I was told by one doctor that brain tumors do not hurt and another told me they can be bothersome. I have relatives on my both parents side who have passed on from brain tumors, one younger than me, so I also asked on my post is they are genetic.
Avatar f tn Carcinoid tumors are a type of tumor which produce hormone-like substances such as serotonin, catecholamines, histamine and kinins. An excess of these substances in the body can produce what is called "carcinoid syndrome", characterized by right heart failure, skin flushing, diarrhea and abdominal pain, and asthma-like symptoms.
Avatar f tn Not all brain tumors cause the same symptoms (my cousin has a cancerous brain tumor - never got a headache). Brain tumors are pretty rare so the doctor you saw would look for signs in your eyes and reflexes. You have to rule out the common before the rare so I would go see an ENT and eye doc and get all that ruled out first. I get tons of sinus issues and don't feel it when I bend over so...
