Truvada and alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Truvada and alcohol

truvada

Though I am still very strong showing no symptoms except minor pains on at upper abdomen when I overwork myself and most times not feeling anything, and dirty and yellowish urine. I visited a specialist hospital on 7th October, 2011 and I was assigned to a gastroenterologist who ordered a fresh test. He confirmed the results but stated my LFT showed minor inflamations. He prescriped Truvada to be taken for six months as a solution to bring down the high viral load.
How effective is PEP at preventing HIV when used correctly and taken within 12 hours?
I have never been on meds, and since I made some serious lifestyle changes last year, such as quitting smoking, limiting alcohol, and eating a lot better, I feel pretty good! My cd4 was 294 last summer and its now 500! I put on 10 pounds too. All this without any hiv meds. I also take daily multivitamin. My question is, my doctor gave me the option of either Atripla or Norvir/Truvada/Reyataz. I chose the latter. I dont want any wasting to happen with the meds. Is this just a myth?
I rinsed my penis and swabbed with alcohol after. I also commenced Truvada that evening ( approx 4 hrs post exposure) . Is this adequate . I have now been on it for a week . I was considering commencing kaletra as well . Is my risk high ? would you recommend anything else? thanks for advice worried !!
I am male, partner was male who had recent HIV (-) test from a week prior (physically confirmed with copy of report), and was on Truvada for PrEP (could not get a read on how often he took his pills, but from limited conversation 50-75% of the time). We had sex (I was insertive anal partner) for approximately 10 minutes after trying sex with a condom; alcohol was involved, I had poor decision making, but I'm working on forgiving myself now.
Jose, As you know from my posts to you before, I have considerable anxiety about HIV and sex. I have also decided from this point onward I will not mix alcohol with sex. Just not worth it. On Saturday evening I went out and had sex with a man I met a bar. We were drunk and I bottomed. It hurt really bad and so didnt last long, and he ejaculated outside of me. We had sex the next morning and he came outside again.
I cant believe I just got over a scare and now this! My pep meds are Truvada and Isentress. The docotor said these were the best drugs with the least side effects but after reading things online the side effects sound like thiese drugs can really screw me up? Is anyone familiar with these - does everyone have these side effects? Are these drugs as damaging as HIV and should I stay on them? Is there any chance of me living through this??
I knew she was HIV+ so i was freaking out right away. As soon as it happened i bled the site and washed it with soap and alcohol. I started PEP 2 hrs later (truvada, norvir, raltegravir, and preszita), my initial results are negative. I do not know the viral load of the patient yet, i can only pray that it is low. I know odds are 0.3% but that doesnt settle my fears, i am young and want to live a happy healthy life with KIDS! DR.
- and there's a huge change for the better in my viral load and LFTS are dramatically reduced. Haven't touched alcohol and I feel ok. Been living with this for years .... and I guess I will be for a few more years too! Thanks for your support, guys. steven.
I have a person that is very close to my family walk past he is defiantly hiv positive and a drug user heroin, dope, crack and alcohol and he doesn’t take any medication from it and is in late stages of having aids. He said oh you probably did it with your nail from your pinky it must have scrapped the finger with the nail and he grabbed my hand he moved my pinky to show how it might have been done so he then rubbed his finger along the cut to say see how it looks.
Started with Lamivudine when I was 17. Then I moved to the U.S., and found a liver specialist and did a comprehensive blood panel to evaluate my current state of Hep B. My doctor told me that the virus mutated, and resisted to Lamivudine. My HBV DNA at that time was 24 million copies. I also did a liver biopsy, and that came up with a stage 2 (I think I was told there were some visible scar on my liver) Started treatment with Truvada 2 years ago, got undetectable HBV DNA within 5 months.
There was no alcohol involved in my case and the act was quite short - may be less than 3 mins. and I am sure I didn't have any difference in 'feeling 'feeling' I hope and pray I am safe. Many many thanks to you and God bless you!

I vaguely remember the remainder of the night , at some point I was led to a hotel room with a latino woman, I remember being in and out of it and I snapped back to reality with the feeling of pain on my pubic bone...and Im on my back with her on top of me and Im inside her and she's grinding me so hard it hurts and I push her off of me, I stand up and, thank god theres a condom half on my penis... Im so dizzy that my coordination is fumbled and I grab at the condom virtually tearing it off...
1) If she had HIV, would I have been infected as soon as there was contact with mucous membrane of the urethra? 2) Would the fact that I ejaculated short after exposure have any affect? Pushing fluids out? 3) Was it a bad idea to use the hand sanitizer? I thought the alcohol would kill the virus on impact, but it can also cause inflammation and increase risk. Would this matter if it was AFTER the exposure? Did I make the situation worse by doing this?
I've also lost about 15-20 lbs over the period of April - May, though I think that may be due as much to curtailment of alcohol and stress during this period. Still, not sure though. I haven't noticed any fever over this time, so I thankful for that! Additionally, I haven't had any classic genital outbreaks that may be associated w/ HSV. My greatest concern at this point is the possibly of infecting others.
My ALT never get normal during these two years. Lots of fluctuations. I do not drink alcohol and I am in pretty good shape.
(thats another conversation, she had lied all along, we got to find out she was seeing a hiv specialist at the same hospital , we dont have access to her records but im thinking of taking her to court, as my doctor stated) on same day (day 3)the doctor carried out hep b and c tetsts (core) and vrld testson me and they all came back neg and they gave me pills to cover syphillis, gonhorea, vaginitis, syphillis jab etc After 80hrs of exposure doc also added alluvia PEP two pills each morning 10 am
My doc said it could be something as simple as not enough sleep and too much stress. Is that true? My doc and radiologist say the tumors are suggestive of hemangioma but I'm still really scared." You already have an MRI ordered, that will clarify the nature of the tumors. Probably hemangiomas, but HCC is always a high risk for chronic HBV patients - much more once the cirrhotic stage is reached BTW-. Your ALT is not really normal.
that's just marketing to avoid use of more potent drugs with higher seroconversion, seroconversion means no more money for the company who produce antiviral. truvada is tenofovir+embricitabine ftc and you will find hbv therapy under this combo and not under truvada but they are exactly the same thing, probably you save money with one pill truvada instead separate tdf+ftc.so that is just marketing exactly like they wrote for tdf until 2008 that is to say tdf doesn't cure hbv....
you might use hbsag and see if it increases and start immediately if so (hbsag increases before hbvdna and all other tests) but you cannot be 100% sure you don't develop resistance
