Avatar m tn I was hoping you guys could help me.I was having some minor stomach issues. swallowing was a little hard, so I went to the DR. We did a endoscope. He found: H. Pylori associated moderate chronic gastritis with some signs of intestinal metaplasia. Right now I'm taking the Prevpac (triple therapy) for the bacterium. Will this type of gastritis eventually resolve itself when the bacterium is removed?
Avatar f tn H.Pylori leads to Peptic Ulcer disease, which needs to be managed with 'Triple Therapy' consisting of Antibiotics(Amoxicillin and Clairithromycin), Proton Pump Inhibitors (Omeprazole or Rabeprazole), may also include Ulcer Protective Gels like Sucralfate,Irsogladine etc, antacids,Adjuvants like Okrin may also help.In case of resistant bacteria,Amoxcillin can be replaced by Metronidazole and other combinations of H2 antagonists and mucosal protective agents and multi vitamins help a lot.
Avatar f tn The doctor prescribed Prevpac. This medicine is very strong and always have bad taste in my mouth. Now I have been taking this medicine for five days. I still feel pain in the stomach especially in the early morning time close to 5 am. My question is if I am having pain due to the bacteria then by taking this medicne when should I start feeling comfortable. Could it be I have some other condition?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion. During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.
304573 tn?1345577338 Hey guys........anyone doing or has done triple therapy with Teleprivir/Incivek? I was pretty sick last time I tx'd just on Peg/Riba and heard the third one makes you even sicker. I am terrified and have been acting a winmpy girl and been crying because I know all the crap I will have to endure AGAIN. That being said, also heard the SVR rate is awesome....
Avatar f tn is anyone else out there trying the new triple therapy w/ Incivek?
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum there's lot of great information here. Every person has a different situation. Did you have a liver biopsy? That's important in your decision on whether to treat now or wait depending on your liver, your living situation, other health concerns, insurance, your support system. If you are the sole cg of young children will be harder then someone without. Every situation is different. This is great place to gather information. This triple therapy is tough.
Avatar f tn My mom is 56, she has got Hep C genotype 1a and she is going to start triple therapy on Monday, 12th of May. More I read about the side effects, more I scared... Any suggestion from people who has gone through this?
Avatar f tn The recommendations of the doctor were that for the polyps I should go on a control in 3 months because if the polyp grow to 10mm they would prefer to remove my gallbladder and about the H. pylori I will have a 7 days triple antibiotic therapy (Omeprazole, Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin). In 8 weeks they want to make me a breath test to see if the bactery is gone. But in the last hours I have thought about many things and have some questions: 1. Is there any relation between the H.
519575 tn?1212079035 I just finished my two weeks of Prevpac, the best answer I found was sucking on cough drops. Believe me I tried everything. Don't be surprised to have that taste even a few days after you have finished the pills.
Avatar m tn Dr. Pho, I went to internist / gastroenterologist a few weeks ago with my problem. Initially, based on what I've read, I suspected that I had candida overgrowth, but my doctor told me that candida overgrowth in the intestine is a myth. We did the following tests: - Breath test for some bacterias (was normal) - Blood test (not sure for what but came back normal. Do you know what this could be tested for?) - Breath test for h.
619150 tn?1247048274 Colon was fine, was diagnosed with Gastritis. Was given PrevPac, while taking that I had upset stomach in morning. But after vomiting one morning that went away. Started to feel good again. Then PrevPac ran out... Started to feel ill again. Now on Prevacid. I was 220 lb when this all started in Sept. It lingered at around 195 for awhile when I was feeling better. Now I am down to 188. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn My husband started on 14 days of prevpac 4 days ago and is now experiencing extreme lack of energy and tiredness--very hard for him to get up in the a.m. and he is exhausted by 2 or 3 p.m. Could this be a side effect of the drugs? Traci This discussion is related to Prevpac treatment.
Avatar f tn Has anyone completed incivek triple therapy and had a healthy baby afterwards? It's been over 1 yr since I completed triple therapy and we would love to have another child. Thanks!
3246768 tn?1346936807 I start Triple Therapy tomorrow and I am absoluteky TERRIFIED!!! Im only 26 but have an infant and 4 year old and while medicaid is gonna pay for my meds I figure I better jump on it! Im taking the following medicines: Ribavirin 200mg tablet, INCIVEK 375mg tablet, & Pegintron Redipen 120mcg My nurse said first few shots would be rough but I read this not to be true, that they get worse and worse the further u go along!!
Avatar m tn I completed 24 weeks of incivek triple therapy around two weeks back. Last I saw my doctor was after 22 week lab. My doctor says it is not necessary to take VL after 24 weeks (last VL was done after 4 weeks and 12 weeks, I was UND both the times). I am scheduled to be done a VL after three months.
Avatar m tn Start triple therapy on Day 1 and complete the INCIVEK dosing portion of the regimen in 12 weeks. An additional 12 or 36 weeks of pegIFN-RBV alone is required.
1747881 tn?1546175878 I am very lucky and live close to Denver Co where they have a clinical trial that is the triple drug therapy, that is studying effects of a wieght based ribovirin dose compared to a standard mg dose Keith
Avatar n tn I had to stop the triple therapy for Hep C after 2 months due to an infection in my toe. My platelet count dropped to critical levels and I had no immune system. After 6 weeks of IV antibiotics I have returned to good health. I have never had any symptons of liver disease although I am at Stage 4 Cirrohsis. In the next few weeks I will restart the triple therapy. I am 59 and have had HEP C for 30 years. My doctor informed me there is little information on starting and stopping the therapy.
Avatar f tn My mum started INCIVEK triple therapy yesterday. So far she is ok.. But I am confused how she supposed to take INCIVEK with food or 30 min after food.. Please advise..
Avatar f tn When I felt like you described, I had anemia hypoxia, which was/is caused by my triple therapy (Incivek). Anemia hypoxia is a lack of oxygen to the brain (& body) and is caused by low red blood cell ccounts. It can be aggravated by altitude. I see you live near sea level. That helps. You symptoms could be related to something other than hypoxia. Make sure you discuss them with your doctor. I'm very interested in your hemoglobin test results.
Avatar m tn Just a quick poll to see how many cirrhotics have done triple therapy and what their experience was?
1763947 tn?1334055319 An ulcer? Yikes. Have you tried a Prevpac for that? I tested high in h.pylori early on, so they had me stop my abx to take the Prevpac (which includes Biaxin and Amoxicillin.) It definitely reduced my stomach pain.
