Trileptal withdrawal

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal withdrawal

trileptal

1011826 tn?1274492712 Anyone had any withdrawal side effects relating to Trileptal? Any suggestions in dealing with it? Anyone who has dealt with the same thing? My symptoms are that I am having horrible anxiety, insomnia and irritability since reducing my dosage of Trileptal this week. Backstory: I am switching from Trileptal to Lamictal over a long period of time.
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar n tn I have been compleatly off this trileptal for 4 days, started weening about 2 months ago. have you ever heard of such a thing like this? and how much longer will it take to get better?
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to the sight but have been doing research on Trileptal and MS. I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist?
4544656 tn?1371593548 This caused a severe withdrawal reaction and I ended in the hospital! I then went back up to 300 for a few months to stabilize. Now, under doc supervision, we are going much slower. I got the gaba in liquid form from my pharmacy. 5 ml equals 250 mgs. I have been able to decrease 10 mgs every 2 weeks down to 200 symptom free! I just started to get symptoms with my last dose drop. I had severe anxiety. I realized it was withdrawal.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
Avatar f tn Trileptal and Seroquel but they are not working. I am taking myself of the trileptal now. i am off the seroquel completely now. Like you said I have grown immune to them. I have an appt to see my psych doc soon. I had printed out a list of meds so hopefully we are able to get the right ones.
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
Avatar m tn It started happening when I started coming off some psychiatric medication that I was taking. I was taking 1200mg of trileptal (600 twice a day), 160 mg of geodon (once at night, and 30 mg of lexapro (once in the morning. This numbness that i am experiencing is honestly debilatating. It is overwhelming and unbearable. I can't help but just lay in bed and sleep because that is the only time I have any relief is when I sleep.
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar n tn My friend was hospitalized and put on Zyprexa, Trileptal and Invega over a period of 21 days. Now he's been released but can not afford the drugs so he hasn't taken taken any for 5 days. The invega was only given to him 6 days ago, and is a monthly injection, so the withdrawl for that hasn't started yet. I know one isn't supposed to just stop anti-psychotics but he hasn't been able to get Medicare and I don't think he'll manage it right now. So this is his reality...
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I suffer from constant pain - pain specialists here have tried injections - burning the nerve, botox and every possible drug - Lyrica, indomethacin, neurontin, dilantin, elavil - opiates make it worse (trileptal was the only one that helped but lowered my sodium to 118 within 48 hours at just 300 mgs a day) 3 neurologists have suggested just living life out on klonopin but i refuse (high gaba covers the pain - ironic - depakote and tomomax make it worse.
728313 tn?1260459629 t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
Avatar n tn To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Any diarrhea? How did you feel on Tegretol ? What was trileptal like?

1168718 tn?1464983535 t have luck with either one. Cymbalta had more side effects for me than Gabapentin. You can try Cymbalta, but the withdrawal is terrible. Be careful !!!
