trileptal vision

I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.

I have headaches that cause blurry vision. I see these color blobs that move in my vision that shouldn’t be there, they don’t show any connection to stimuli so I don’t have synesthesia. I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi. When I was on oxcarbazepine (trileptal) and levetiracetam (keppra) I started having these weird headaches where I would lose my vision, hearing, smell, and coordination, but I could still speak and feel. The doctors are pretty much stumped.

I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?

Less common side effects include cardiac arrhythmias, blurry or double vision and/or the temporary loss of blood cells or platelets and in rare cases can cause aplastic anemia. Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!

The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.

After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!

I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.

I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?

DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??

Hello, I am an 38 yr old male and for the past 2 yrs I have been out of work due to constant head aches and migraines, fatigue, dizzy, constant pain, ringing ears ( very loud ), sensative to sound causes myoclonic episodes, eye pain, blurred vision when hot, eye floaters. Extremely sensitive to heat, when hot have glazed vision and dry eyes, very short rapid breathing and muscle jerking and sweating ( it looks like i am having a seizure ).

My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????

I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?

I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.

I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.

I was told by my PCP and 2 neuros that the drug of choice for TN is Tegretol or Trileptal. Have they tried prescribing that yet? I used Trileptal for awhile and it worked well but I had to stop due to side effects. I think you might need to add another drug since it neuropathic pain and it seems that 2 drugs have a synergistic effect. Have you read the Health page on neuropathic pain? I hope you get some relief from the zaps...there are so annoying and painful!

t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?

To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?

I've had problems that began in my 20's with my right eye greying out and looking in a different direction, problems figuring out how far away the ground was when walking, and a jumping kind of gate like clonus. About 10-12 years ago I began to have tingling in my hands and feet with what I call stripes of pain up my arms. I had normal MRI's at that time and was told I didn't have MS.

Any diarrhea? How did you feel on Tegretol ? What was trileptal like?

Well i want to start by saying that i am 18 years old and have been suffering with these really bad headaches for about 4 years. I know that everyone get headaches and migraines but when i get them it always seems like something is wrong. I started to go to a neurologist about two years ago but after two visits i stopped going because he was claiming that my headaches/ migraines where related to food i ate which i know is not true.

My son takes Trileptal for his Epilepsy...(he is 16)...it's affecting his memory more and more; does anyone else here take this med and have similar problems? His dosage is 900mg/twice a day. Any lower dose and his seizures return. This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.

I know all these drugs are pretty much the same and their for people with seizures and doctors now give it to people with chronic pain like me! Well I have tried all but not for more than a month. With Elavil I didn't like the way it made me feel. Neurontin and Trileptal I didn't take it long b/c I noticed nothing. I just started taking Lyrica 75mg 3x a day started about almost 2 weeks ago.

Just wanted to ask if anyone is on or has taken Trileptal. My neuo office called me at work last week and said the EEG showed I could have a seizure at anytime and needed to start this medication ASAP, it might be temporal lobe epilepsy, not sure what else they will have to do to find out for sure. I started on the medication that day. Spent Friday and Monday working from home because I wasn’t sure how the drug would make me feel.
