I did Trileptal instead. I had no issues with it. Then I went to a pain clinic where they think outside the box. They had me on so much medication before the pain clinic it was not funny with each symptom they upped dosages or added pills. I was a walking Pharmacy. I was on 4 anti seizures at once. Now I am on none. They have to keep tweaking at the pain clinic and it takes time, but I take way less medication and do not feel as gross from side effects.
very good they are continuing research, rna interference was discovered years ago by a US company but after this discovery it was bankrapt because other durg makers sueing them, don t remember why i only remember they stopped everythign and even website of this company dissapered
so rnai research continued in israel and other countries outisde US, i am very happy to know that research is being conitued in china/australia where infuence of US drug makers is close to zero, especially china

t say which is best to use but Lamictal was the most effective for me as well as other people and generally used more than the others. Trileptal unlike Tegretol (which its clinically similar to) does not require a blood test. Neurontin and Topomax don't but they are generally used as adjuncts. I was not able to tolerate Keppra because of personality changes and its not used often for this exact reason.
Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
I for one, take several drugs that are anti-seizure meds taken and sub-therapeutic doses but heir combined effect is pain relief. I take nortriptyline, gabapentin, Trileptal and Cymbalta. Others taken different combinations that work well for them. It is a process of trail and error though.
Again, welcome and feel free to ask about anything...nothing is really off-limits unless it is disparaging to others.
I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?

Lithium is one of those meds that you just have to play with. It's a trial and error type of med. Honestly, even a level of 0.9 is not therapeutic for bi-polar disorder. It should be at least 1.0 if not up to 1.5. And 0.6 is definitely not therapeutic. I was on 1500mg of Lithium once daily, extended release, and I still wasn't at a therapeutic range. Everyone is different. My metabolism just happens to metabolize lithium at a higher rate than it does for others. That might be your issue.
My seizures were under control for a couple of years even thought my blood results said I was not within the therapeutic range. I moved out of state and my new doctor wanted to increase my dose's so I would fall with the range. I did not care at the time and
let her raise my dose.
Talking with my new neurologist who is the Newsome chair of epileptology and director of the Epilepsy Program told me that in short the therapeutic range is different for everyone.
My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred
me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass
(and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long
as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine.
Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they
will know how to follow up.
I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better.

After joining the Forum and learning about the importance of FT3, I got mine tested and found that even though my FT4 was very high in the range, my FT3 was very low in the range.
After a med change to a combo T4/T3 med, my dosage has been tweaked until now FT4 is .90 (range is .60 - 1.50) and my FT3 is 3.8 (range is 2.3 - 4.2). I did not take meds until after the blood draw. Testing also showed a low level of Vitamin D, which is quite common with hypothyroidism, so I supplement that.
Any diarrhea? How did you feel on Tegretol ? What was trileptal like?
