Trileptal side effects memory loss

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal side effects memory loss

trileptal

Avatar n tn Less common side effects include cardiac arrhythmias, blurry or double vision and/or the temporary loss of blood cells or platelets and in rare cases can cause aplastic anemia. The symptoms you are experiencing may be due to the effects of your medication. However, before starting or shifting to new medication, I suggest that you discuss this with your doctor first to avoid any adverse effects or seizure brought about by changes in medication. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
471949 tn?1236904026 My son takes Trileptal for his Epilepsy...(he is 16)...it's affecting his memory more and more; does anyone else here take this med and have similar problems? His dosage is 900mg/twice a day. Any lower dose and his seizures return. This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn I never had that particular side effect when I was on Trileptal -- but you should definitely speak to your doctor -- find out if it IS the Trileptal causing the problem and if so -- there are definitely lots of other anti-seizure meds out there that you could be switched to.
Avatar n tn Atypical antipsychotics can have a lot of side effects. If you think your memory problems are from the seroquel, talk to your doctor about changing your meds around. If they're for schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, you'll need to stay on some sort of antipsychotic, but different ones have different side effect profiles for different people. If it's for bipolar or as an add on for depression, you can switch drug classes entirely, which might work better for you.
728313 tn?1260459629 t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
Avatar f tn I myself am taking wellbutrin sr and have been experiencing the same side effects along with feeling like i am in a elevator not sure if these are normal side effects or not... but the plus side of it i have been losing weight with it..
Avatar n tn ve been noticing some severe short term memory loss problems. Im extremely worried and concerened about my well being, Im not sure what to do. Is this normal? Is it permanent? Should I switch medications? Also an alternate question regarding Celexa; Is it completely out of the question to take Celexa during your pregnancy?
Avatar n tn I've been on a couple of different SSRI's Paxil(generic) and now on Prozaz. I have noticed that my memory doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be. I've always attributed to getting older and having a ton more stress in my life. I've done a lot of research on SSRI side effects and have never seen anything documented about memory loss. Getting off of Paxil (if that's what you decide to do) is very difficult.
5032487 tn?1365824021 I am currently on Topamax and have been for over a year now.....when I was first put on it I lost 25 pounds. Then as my body adjusted to it the weight loss has stopped. I just has my dosage increased about a week ago and have lost an additional 5 pounds since then.... Topamax is a anti-convulsant and is used in Bipolar patients as an off-label med....
Avatar m tn Trileptal is a newer drug than Tegretol (carbamazapine) and is supposed to have less side effects than Tegretol. You do have to have blood tests every three months because it can affect the sodium levels in your blood, which could lead to kidney problems. I went through 6 doctors before I found a Facial Pain Specialist at a large teaching hospital that actually helped me.
Avatar f tn So today my Celexa dose was upped from half a pill to 1 whole pill and the side effects are coming back like when I first started... Sweaty, can't sleep, headache, stiff neck, clenching teeth... Etc. I don't know what to do. I tried taking stuff for it, including an Oxy but still no change. What can I take to make these side effects not so bad? I don't see the dr till Thursday, so I can't ask her... If anyone has any suggestions?
Avatar m tn and i want to know the side effects, i heard memory loss was one? i took 2 **** tests on it and i passed. if anyone knows for sure please let me know, thank you.
Avatar n tn I've been taking zyprexa for almost 6 months and am still suffering side effects. I get blurred vision and fogginess which makes it hard to concentrate. I'm sleepy all of the time and could fall asleep at my desk if I could. I've had bipolar disorder for 10 years and have never been sleepy all of the time. In the past, prior to this medicine, I've always had troubles sleeping. Does anyone else have the same problems as me?
Avatar n tn Losing a whole day, and having some memory problems for awhile after open heart is not that uncommon. What he might be going through is problems with his meds. You can take a list of all of them to your pharmacist to ask what the possible side effects are. I'm a little surprised his Cardio Dr has'nt thought about this. Or has your husband not mentioned the memory problems to his Dr yet?
Avatar f tn When I was having my bouts with severe nerve pain it worked very well and fairly quickly, so I just started taking it as needed, but still had some terrible side effects, not ones that I was able to withstand, like I said mainly the memory problems and the weight gain was so signifigant that Im still trying to shed those pounds a year later. I really have nothing good to say about Lyrica besides when I did have burning nerve pain it did take it away.
Avatar n tn Most of the side effects are dose related. Here is more information about the medication: http://www.drugs.com/topamax.html . Sometimes, dividing the dose into several doses throughout the day may help. Also taking the smallest dose you can take is best to avoid the side effects. Initially, many people have side effects, but after your body gets used to the med. it goes away (usually after a week or 2).
1011826 tn?1274492712 i was on trileptal as well as lamictal, never really had any side effects to speak of...but i DO know, and forgive the spelling, but those invoulentary twitching momvements that can become permenant is called (sp) tardive dyskanisia...or TD for short. some psycotropic drugs have this as a side effect, esp after long term use, and most dr's dont tell you about this side effect, even though its listed in the side effects. just another little fun dise effect of psych meds, huh...
Avatar f tn After only a week of being on this medication for the stabbing pain behind my right eye I feel horrible do the side effects eventually get better or should I stop taking it
Avatar f tn I experienced a lot of memory loss toward the end also. One of the most annoying things for me was having to go in for a blood test every week! Keep us posted!! Good luck and please don't forget that "This too shall pass" Keep your chin up!
Avatar f tn s not too much of a problem for me. I accept the unwanted side-effects for the benefits received. Short term memory loss at your age sounds odd, Get it checked out asp. Try not to worry meanwhile. Memory is precious, long term seems to stay intact when the short term goes in my case.
Avatar n tn I take trileptal if you would like to look into that, but that is just my opinion again I am no doctor. Trileptal has minimal side effects. Her doctor will probably know what it is. If the seizures are occuring at night they could be nocturnal seizures.
1212999 tn?1272305203 If the Trileptal is raised you may encounter these side effects at an increased rate. It might make sense for your psychiatrist to add another medication but there may be some interactions so he might want to change or adjust the medications you are on but that's their decision. This is a list of all current mood stabilizers that you could discuss with them: http://www.psycheducation.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response!! I am trying remain optimistic but Neurontin nor Lyrica have touched the pain. Here's to hoping Trileptal will take the edge off!!
