trileptal

1011826 tn?1274492712 From manufacturer's information: oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) is cleared from the body mostly in the form of metabolites which are predominantly excreted by the kidneys. ---This would suggest that drinking lots of fluids could help flush it out of your system. They also suggest withdrawing gradually. Here is an article on withdrawing from psychiatric meds: http://bipolarblast.wordpress.com/2008/05/01/ten-practical-considerations-during-medication-withdrawal/ Good luck!
1967424 tn?1325633780 CrazyMeds has a ton of information on different psych meds, including quick run downs of important points, but also the full prescribing information that doctors use if you want to know more than the quick sheet you get from the pharmacy. You can look through and see if there's one you think would work better for you, and you can look through the forums to see other people's experiences with that drug.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I withdrew of off the trileptal first and the geodon second. As i started withdrawing off of the trileptal i started to feel numb in my head. It is now about nine months later and the same annoying feeling is still there. My question is if withdrawing from the medication in the way i did was the cause of this numbness. I was on this medication for about six months prior to that with no numbness or bad side effects, just the inability so sit still and focus.
Avatar n tn Student takes Geodan, Trileptal, Resperdal, Prevacid, and Concerta. He is 19 years old. Could this be anxiety related. I surfed the web and could not find any information.
Avatar m tn I started clinic and was prescribed trileptal; which made me sick everytime I withdrew from it and started it back. My doc also told me to start exercising to increase bone density. The 2nd time it happened, about a year after, and it was worse. It was during theday and I was watching television, it was 3:30pm (That's right, everytime I've had a seizure, I checked the time just before it happens; not strange, as I'm constantly checking the time)...
Avatar n tn However, as with all antiepileptic drugs, it should be taken regularly or as prescribed by your doctor, since if it is not, and you forgot and withdrew from the drug abruptly, the potential of increased seizure frequency happens. More information about Trileptal can be found in this link: http://www.mims.com/Page.aspx?menuid=mng&brief=false#Contraindications Sometimes, it is also important to note the special triggers that cause unexpected seizures.
Avatar f tn Its just not as used much anymore because of the fact that it can interact with antipsychotics (not dangerously, just lower their blood level) and thus in someone who needs both appear to cause psychosis (as it did with me) and of course Trileptal has generally replaced it. That information came directly from my provider so that's been standard thinking for a while but it takes some time for it to be phased in.
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
Avatar f tn Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.
Avatar n tn Keep in mind that everything that works has side effects. Not everyone will get every side effect, and some are more likely than others, but you won't really know without trying, unfortunately. An off label use is one that the FDA hasn't approved the medication for, e.g. trazodone as a sleep aid (it's approved as an antidepressant).
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
397118 tn?1219762250 Hi everyone, I know I have ask you guys about the sub, Trileptal and Lexapro making you gain weight so I ask my psyc. about it and he looked in his little book and said that it is not reported to really increase appetite but there are studies that say that lexapro does but he also said but the pill dosen't weigh 10 pounds so I think you will be ok.
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
359574 tn?1328360424 I am finishing my week of no medication for my TN after tapering off the Trileptal, and my neuro-opthalmalogist wants to start me on Lyrica. I am very concerned about gaining weight on it (if my insurance company even approves it.) I have been very carefully following WW and have lost 35 pounds since August. The Lyrica site says something like 10-16% of people do gain, so I wonder if board members have been experiencing this.
