trileptal

222267 tn?1253302210 I just started OXCARBAZEPINE. I am really sick. I am on 600mg at night. I woke up this morning with a headache and I have felt like I have the flu all day. I cannot eat or drink anything. I'm exausted. Does anyone have experience with this med? How long will these symptoms last? I have to somehow work tomorrow. I am getting so tired of being sick and tired. I'm not depressed. I'm just coming back from hell. I had major surgery. It made me have a severe manic episode.
Avatar m tn I am taking tablets for my minor neural problem for the past 4 years, The tablets i am consuming are Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) -300mg and Levetiracetam (keppra) -250mg. Now I am looking for a tablet which should have both of this content in the same. I feel guilty that I am taking more tablets and my health condition is improved now. so I planned to reduce my tablet dosage. so I look over this- i.e.
Avatar m tn Have been taking Carbamezapine and lately Gabapentine, which both cause Erectile Disfunction. Have read that Oxcarbazepine does not have this side effect. Have not convinced my neurologist to let me switch meds. What success have people had using Oxcarbazepine for TN, and does it also cause ED? I don't want to use either carbamezapine or gabapentine if possible.
1011826 tn?1274492712 From manufacturer's information: oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) is cleared from the body mostly in the form of metabolites which are predominantly excreted by the kidneys. ---This would suggest that drinking lots of fluids could help flush it out of your system. They also suggest withdrawing gradually. Here is an article on withdrawing from psychiatric meds: http://bipolarblast.wordpress.com/2008/05/01/ten-practical-considerations-during-medication-withdrawal/ Good luck!
1108262 tn?1273179266 I just found this post. Yes I take trileptal or also known as oxcarbazepine 300mg for about 3 months. 3 a day everyday. I know it's not long. The very first day I took the medicion I started laughing on it for no reason. I felt really happy and I didn't want to argue. I just wanted to sit around laughing and having a good ol time. And for several weeks same thing but sometimes I felt like I was dying to get out of the house and do something. Then in the third week nothing.
Avatar f tn I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi. When I was on oxcarbazepine (trileptal) and levetiracetam (keppra) I started having these weird headaches where I would lose my vision, hearing, smell, and coordination, but I could still speak and feel. The doctors are pretty much stumped. Has anyone ever had a situation like this?
Avatar n tn I have a 4 `/2 y/o male with intermitten petechiae on his chest, neck, and shoulder. He has also had 3 nose bleeds and easy to bruise. He was on Trileptal for a month and it was D/Ced because of these symptoms. He has been off of the med. for a week now and more showed up two days ago. His CBC, comp. and Oxcarbazepine level were fine. What could be causing this?

471949 tn?1236904026 Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.
Avatar n tn Then in 2007 she had a grand mal seizure due to some of the scar tissue had broken off or moved.. The Dr started her on 300 mg of trileptal. Then Aug 2008 she had another grand mal seizure. So, they up the meds to 900 mg. Her absent seizures went completely away. But, she had another seizure in Feb 2009. So, they up the meds to 1200mg. She keeps losing feeling in her left hand like she normally feels right before she has a seizure, but no seizure. The absent seizures are back.
Avatar f tn t use it often because of its interactions with other drugs. They substitute it for oxcarbazepine (trileptal) 1200-2400mg. The latrter has less interactivity with other drugs. This one appeared later as an alteration of the first by changing an oxygen molecule. What is strange to me, your pdoc used the generic name of the drug, usually they write the brand name so that the pt is also aware of what he is taking. e.g.
Avatar n tn There are lots of other options to try. You should ask your neuro what is available to you. Have you tried others? Carbomazapine is Tegretol, the 'go-to' drug for TN and is often used by some doctors as a diagnostic tool at the start. But it's not for everyone. I am one of those. I am allergic to it. (my rash is seen in my photos if you need it). For me, the side effects are worse than TN itself for me, but others have said it's life changing.
Avatar f tn I was put on Depachine (valproat) 600 mg and Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) 600 mg. The deja-vu feeling after that was no more, and there was no more twitching, but despite upping the dose to the maximum I still get the heart-pounding and that sudden feeling in my head like a shock and like I will drop to the ground. So the attacks are less severe, but definitely still there. Sorry for the long intro, here are the questions for which I would love to hear your input.
5544493 tn?1369608788 ll need a typical or atypical antipsychotic (Seroquel and Abilify are both atypicals). Carbamazepine interacts with a lot of other things, and oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) seems like a better choice, even though it's off label. In the end, there's a huge number of meds that can be used in BP, and it really depends on the individual how well any particular one will work. Check out the crazymeds page (just google it) to see a lot of info on different options for BP.
Avatar f tn s normally used for epilepsy such as gabapentin/neurontin, tegretol/carbazepine, or trileptal/oxcarbazepine. A doctor who is knowledgeable in TN will slowly wean you onto the drug -- slowly increasing the dosage until the pain is controlled. Follow your doctor's instructions with these types of drugs.
Avatar m tn Since I was diagnosed with BCFS, my neurologist prescribed me Clonazepam (generic form of Klonopin) to take at bedtime which has not gotten rid of the muscle spasms 100%, however it knocks me out so I have been getting restful sleep which has helped me quite a bit overall. Then during the day I take Oxcarbazepine (generic form of Trileptal) which is supposed to reduce symptoms, it may help some but not 100%...
Avatar f tn After only a week of being on this medication for the stabbing pain behind my right eye I feel horrible do the side effects eventually get better or should I stop taking it
645390 tn?1338555377 He said I could D/C Amitriptyline with no weaning off, and to start decreasing the Trileptal. I am almost done with the Trileptal, only taking 1/2 tab every other day. (started with 4 pills per day.) Here is the problem: for the last 2 days or so, my Left leg, AKA my "good" leg, has been stiff, getting stiffer. Today, it is very painful and I can't bend my knee hardly at all. My knee hurts as well, as most of my leg.
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar m tn You may want to post this on Neurology forum if you are using Trileptal for seizure disorder or using it off-label for anxiety, depression or Bipolar Disorder. http://www.medhelp.
