Trileptal numbness

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal numbness

trileptal

Avatar m tn I withdrew of off the trileptal first and the geodon second. As i started withdrawing off of the trileptal i started to feel numb in my head. It is now about nine months later and the same annoying feeling is still there. My question is if withdrawing from the medication in the way i did was the cause of this numbness. I was on this medication for about six months prior to that with no numbness or bad side effects, just the inability so sit still and focus.
2047903 tn?1330187549 I'm wondering if anyone else has numb fingertips as a side effect from Trileptal...I am currently taking 600 mg. I'm also being worked up for MS, so I don't know if this is from the drug I take for TN or from some other cause?? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I have been taking trileptal for about two months now. At first it was fine, but then i noticed noticed some leg irritation and muscle tightness. That went away and now its light weakness and numbness in the left side of my body. I am taking 1200 mg and am supposed to see a neurologist tomorrow hoping he will take it off. Any advice or feedback???
Avatar m tn For the past nine months or so I have been experiencing severe head numbness in the back of my head on top. It started happening when I started coming off some psychiatric medication that I was taking. I was taking 1200mg of trileptal (600 twice a day), 160 mg of geodon (once at night, and 30 mg of lexapro (once in the morning. This numbness that i am experiencing is honestly debilatating. It is overwhelming and unbearable.

400099 tn?1282954864 That's how it started with me, numbness from toes to knees. It went after after a while with no help. Now 10 years later it is here again. Only for me its the right leg and right arm and a bit in left foot and hand. So frustrating! Every day is a new day with MS. Hang in there!
Avatar m tn My first symtom was a puffy right eye (edema) one morning. Shortly afterward a numbness starting at my right temple working its way downward to the center of my face (over about a month period) . The numbness then starting from my left temple downward to the bottom and center of my face. Now my eyes are still puffy in the morning, my face is numb from the eyes down, my nose is constantly running, my mouth, lips, tongue and palette are numb. It is difficult to eat.
Avatar f tn Due to the severe burning sensation I have in my hands from my current MS flare up, my neuro has put me on Trileptal. I have read great things about this med in regards to TN but not much about peripheral nerves. Anyone have any experience with this med for burning sensation NOT on the face? Hope you all are well!!
Avatar n tn The pain was an 11 on the 0-10 scale. Since the pain has only calmed down to a 7, my neuro added trileptal with the neurontin. The trileptal is being titrated and I'm at 750 mgs per day right now. Can anyone tell me at what dose of trileptal you got some relief from the constant crawling, burning, crushing type pains? Also does the side effect of nausea and just feeling crappy all over from trileptal eventually subside. I also have MS. Thank you.
1011826 tn?1274492712 After 3 months, I am down to 900 mg of Trileptal, 2 mg Xanax, and 150 mg daily, down from 1800 mg daily of TRileptal originally, and a VERY slow introduction of Lamictal into my system. Of course this happens on the weekend, otherwise I would have called the pdoc by now-- anyway, let me know. Help is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I am on 900mg of trileptal and had a healthy baby boy in 2013. I am still on the same meds and currently 10 weeks preggo again. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start trileptal this morning but worried about the side effects particularly dizzines. Has anyone had these symptoms? what are the likelyhood that I would become dizzy and nauseas while taking trileptal? I will be starting out w/ 150mg twice daily for 3 days then increasing?
Avatar m tn Review this site for manufacturer patient assistance programs: http://www.needymeds.org/index.htm And specifically for the drug Trileptal: http://www.needymeds.org/drug_list.taf?
1108262 tn?1273179266 DOES ANY ONE TAKE TRILEPTAL FOR BIPOLAR ??? IF SO HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TAKING IT??
Avatar f tn I am so very tired of the pain, numbness, burning, cramping, et al. Any ideas? Since October I have tried Lortab (3 strengths), gabapentin, Lyrica, Ultram, Relafen, Zonegran, and Trileptal. I am also on Cymbalta and Ambien. Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn My wife has been taking Tegretol 200mg X 3 tines a day, this has caused her to be disorientated and nauseous & still in pain, she is trying Trileptal 300mg X 3, whilst cutting out the Tegretol. My question is how much Trileptal can she take ??????
1212999 tn?1272305203 I've been taking these two for 2 months. 1800 mg trileptal 10 mg abilify. i'm doing a lot better (rages getting under control, manic moods lowered) but i'm still so depressed. my irritability is still off the charts. do you think adding another med will be the most likely next step or will my doc just keep raising my dosages?
Avatar m tn I was on Trileptal for a while. After that my psychiatrist transferred me to Lamictal. It took some time to have the withdrawal symptoms to pass (and the efficacy of the other medication to start) but it settled after some time. Generally things begin to improve within a few weeks. As long as you followed your psychiatrist's titration schedule it should be fine. Keep your psychiatrist updated on how you are doing and they will know how to follow up.
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
728313 tn?1260459629 t have epilepsy, but my questions is what happens to you possible long term effects from taking it;s medication. I had a Shoppers Drug Mart give me Trileptal 300mg instead of my medication. My memory had changed some what and don't know if it's from it or not. No one has an aswer to why I am still living after taking those meds? For 5 days I had to put up with barely keeping my eyes open and my husband couldn't wake me for two hours?
Avatar f tn Hi, clinical experience would suggest that the combination of low dose amitriptyline (10 - 50 mg at night) plus gabapentin (300 - 1800 mg per day) or pregabalin(lyrica) (50 - 600 mg per day) produces the best pain relief with the lowest incidence of side effects. Taken from http://www.****.
Avatar n tn To take this test my doctor weened me off Trileptal over a three week period. After off the drug for a couple weeks my symptoms returned - full force. Now after two weeks back on, I'm feeling much better. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Any diarrhea? How did you feel on Tegretol ? What was trileptal like?
471949 tn?1236904026 My son takes Trileptal for his Epilepsy...(he is 16)...it's affecting his memory more and more; does anyone else here take this med and have similar problems? His dosage is 900mg/twice a day. Any lower dose and his seizures return. This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.
738075 tn?1330575844 I missed your orignial posting. I am sorry to hear of your TN. I, too, have bilateral TN. Trileptal is a wonder drug when it comes to TN. Once you acclimate to the Trileptal it's a life saver. Unfortynatley , I had to stop taking due to too much sodium loss (my kidneys were misbehaving). I am SO glad to hear that it is improving!! Wishing you continued sucess with treatng this extremely paiful disorder.
